
Puri police plan security upgrade for Debasnan Purnima
Puri: Anticipating massive influx of devotees and tourists during Debasnan Purnima on June 11, Puri police is making elaborate security and crowd management arrangements while it has also come out with a detailed traffic advisory.

Special arrangements have been made for four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers coming from different entry points to Puri.
Puri SP Vinit Agrawal said security will be tightened across the city, especially around the Jagannath Temple. Inside the shrine, one SP or commandant-rank officer, six additional SPs, 13 DSPs, 27 inspectors, 105 sub-inspectors, 122 constables and 84 home guards will be deployed.
Additionally, 34 platoons of police force will be stationed within the temple premises. Outside the temple, for crowd control, two SPs or commandants, five additional SPs, eight DSPs, 26 inspectors, 109 SIs or ASIs, 49 constables and 50 home guards will be deployed. They will be supported by 24 platoons and one section of police force.TNN

Cops arrest 6 criminals, seize illegal weapons in Puri
1 2 3 Puri: In a major enforcement drive ahead of Rath Yatra, Puri police busted an arms smuggling racket, arresting six criminals and seizing illegal weapons on Friday. The operation follows intensified security measures for the chariot festival on June 27. "We have seized six country-made firearms and 20 rounds of ammunition from the accused, effectively preventing what could have been a serious security threat during the festival," SP (Puri) Vinit Agrawal said. The accused, all with previous criminal records, were identified as Ramesh Parida alias Denga Muna (29), Babu Das (24), Gudu Panda (27), Harichandan Das (20), Pabitra Behera (25) and Chittaranjan Purohita (23). "Under the new provisions in criminal laws, we are booking the accused under Section 111 of the BNS for organised crime, along with violations of the Arms Act. Our investigation continues to uncover the full extent of their smuggling network," the SP said. Senior police officers said the accused were involved in multiple offences, including theft, robbery, assault, and hooliganism. Puri collector, SP review Alarnath Temple security
Puri: District collector (Puri) Siddharth Shankar Swain and SP Vinit Agrawal on Tuesday reviewed the security arrangements at Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri. As per tradition, after Snan Purnima on June 11, there will be no darshan at Jagannath Temple for 14 days. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now During this period, lakhs of devotees visit the Alarnath Temple for darshan. To ensure the safety of devotees, additional police forces will be deployed. Traffic arrangements, including parking, diversions and one-way traffic flow will be implemented on the roads leading to Brahmagiri. Police personnel will be stationed at every junction for traffic control. On the occasion, a coordination meeting was held between Swain, Agrawal, Alarnath temple servitors and the local administration. Puri police will also set up a 'feedback centre' on the temple premises. Senior officials, including additional SP Sushil Mishra, additional SP Deba Pratap, additional SP Soumya Ranjan Mallik, tehsildar of Brahmagiri, BDO and SDPO (Sadar) were also present.
