Waqf Khair Madinah provides 619,000 meals

Arab News11-03-2025
MADINAH: Waqf Khair Madinah continues to provide iftar and suhoor meals to Madinah's visitors.
Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Harbi, vice president of the council of NGOs in the Kingdom, said that during the first third of this year's Ramadan, 619,619 people were provided meals, with a daily average of 61,961 people across various locations.
The scheme distributed 398,693 iftar and suhoor meals, 46,740 cups of juices and tea, 165,270 water bottles and 6,550 kg of fruits and vegetables.
Al-Harbi said that the distribution operations extend across a wide network of locations, with the Prophet's Mosque and its courtyards being the primary sites due to the large number of worshipers and visitors.
The distribution operations also included the Quba and Al-Qiblatain mosques, as well as hospitality centers at the Haramain Train Station, Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport and Sayed Al-Shuhada site, where a large number of people benefited from the program, particularly visitors and Umrah pilgrims arriving in Madinah.
Additionally, meals were provided to fasting patients and their companions at hospitals, as well as five labor housing sites, to support the most vulnerable groups and ensure that Ramadan iftar meals reach them.
Waqf Khair Madinah is operating under a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth and efficient meal distribution while adhering to the highest standards of food quality and safety.
This is achieved through the efforts of a supervisory team of nine supervisors, and an executive team of 74 members working around the clock to ensure that the meals reach all designated locations.
About 100 female and male volunteers, organized into seven volunteer teams, are taking part in the organization of the iftar distribution and communication with beneficiaries to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for fasting individuals.
The program is implemented in collaboration with official and charitable bodies in the region, reflecting Madinah's values of social solidarity.

Fakeeh group delivers 1H 2025 revenue of SR1.51 billion, up 13% year-on-year

Dr Soliman Abdel Kader Fakeeh Hospital Company and its Subsidiaries ('Fakeeh Care Group', 'FCG', 'Fakeeh Care', the 'Company' or the 'Group'), a leading fully integrated academic healthcare provider listed on TASI (SYMBOL: 4017 and ISIN code SA562GSHUOH7), announced its financial results[1] for the second quarter ended 30 June 2025. Growth during the quarter was supported by higher patient volumes and a richer case‑mix as activity normalized post‑Ramadan. The total number of patients served reached 465 thousand+ in 2Q‑2025 (+16% YoY), taking 1H‑2025 volumes to ~900 thousand (+8% YoY). Outpatient and inpatient volumes grew 15% and 16%, respectively, in the quarter translating into combined revenue growth of 18%. Pricing and case‑mix tailwinds added support to the average revenue per outpatient visit and inpatient admission contributing 3% YTD on a consolidated revenue level. Jeddah's double‑digit growth was central driver, complemented by accelerating throughput in Riyadh and early activity in Madinah. At the headline level, the Group delivered 2Q‑2025 revenue of SR812 million (+24% YoY) and Net Profit after Zakat of SR68 million (+59% YoY); 1H‑2025 revenue was SR1.51 billion (+13% YoY). Commenting on the Group's performance, FCG's President Dr. Mazen Soliman Fakeeh said: 'In the second quarter of the year, Fakeeh Care Group revenues reached to SR812 million, posting a solid 24% year on year growth thanks to a 16% year‑on‑year growth of patients served and a richer case mix. Jeddah's year-on-year expansion in census and revenue continues to demonstrate the strength of our brand and clinical depth, while Riyadh's disciplined ramp‑up continues to progress—together with the recently opened DSFH Madinah—our geographic reach continues to broaden. Our platform remained a robust earnings engine with Attributable to Shareholders profits reaching SR154 million in the first half (SR82M in 2Q25) or 28% up year-on-year, after absorbing the anticipated start‑up operating losses from ramping facilities—investments that are underpinning our multi‑year growth trajectory. In Riyadh, operational beds increased to 102 (from 71 a year earlier), supporting mid‑30% growth in outpatient and inpatient volumes and a sharp rise in surgical throughput as higher‑complexity services scale. In Madinah, the Group admitted its first patients in the initial 48 beds (of 200 beds) under a disciplined, quality‑first ramp that is expected to build steadily. In Jeddah, the flagship network remained the primary revenue center, sustaining double‑digit volume growth and strong pull‑through across service lines. The Group broke ground on DSFMC Al Zahraa in Jeddah—developed in partnership with Yasser Yousef Naghi Investment Company—a key spoke in the hub‑and‑spoke strategy. The center will bring comprehensive, high‑quality care closer to the community via one‑day surgical suites, a 24/7 emergency department, an integrated diagnostic hub, and key medical specializations. Dr. Mazen Soliman Fakeeh added: 'Our integrated ecosystem—with tertiary hospitals, medical centers, home healthcare, emergency medical services, medical education, technology and retail medical offerings that complete our service continuum—continues to differentiate Fakeeh Care. We continue to invest in our digital infrastructure, embedding tools that optimize patient journeys, enhance resource utilization, and reinforce our value-based care model, elevating patient reported outcomes.' 'Looking ahead, our priorities are clear: drive utilization across our ramping facilities with strategic case mix refinement in Jeddah and Riyadh; execute a disciplined, quality first ramp in Madinah; advance milestones across our growth agenda; and continue embedding digital and data driven workflows that unlock efficiency while elevating care standards. We aim to further broaden our preventative medicine and early intervention offerings, strengthening longitudinal patient engagement. Throughout, we remain disciplined in capital deployment—preserving a conservative balance sheet as we fund expansion and cement the foundation for a highly scalable and sustainably profitable healthcare ecosystem. With a resilient mature platform, a scalable operating model, and a deepening role in the Kingdom's healthcare transformation, we are well positioned to create enduring value for patients, staff, students, shareholders and the broader community.' he concluded. During the quarter, the Group achieved JCI Enterprise Accreditation, becoming the first private healthcare group in the Kingdom to earn system‑wide endorsement—validating governance, safety culture, standardized clinical pathways and enterprise risk systems, and ensuring the quality DNA of the flagship facilities scales consistently as the network grows. In parallel, Fakeeh Emergency Medical Services (MedE) supported the Kingdom's Hajj operations through the mobilization of ambulatory teams and ambulances and the CSR operation of Namira Hospital at peak demand, deepening the Group's partnership with national health authorities and reinforcing its role in serving broader societal needs. Gaza Faces Deadliest Day for Aid Seekers as Malnutrition Threatens Children

Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians trying to reach food in Gaza on Sunday, in one of the deadliest days for aid seekers in the war-torn enclave as malnutrition is threatening Palestinian children. Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for areas crowded with displaced people and international aid organizations in central Gaza, raising alarm over a new ground operation amid the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Strip. Largest Death Toll On Sunday, at least 85 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire while seeking aid, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. Most of the victims, were in northern Gaza, as at least 79 people died while trying to get aid entering through the Zikim crossing with Israel, the head of the Health Ministry's records department, Zaher al-Waheidi, told the Associated Press (AP). Moreover, Israeli troops killed 6 Palestinians in the Shakoush area, near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in the southern city of Rafah, according to al-Waheidi. However, the US-backed organization said it was not aware of any incident near its site. Another 7 Palestinians were killed in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, including a 5-year-old boy, according to the Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital. Tragic Incident The UN World Food Program (WFP) said a convoy of 25 trucks carrying vital food aid had entered into the area to help starving communities, but the convoy faced large crowds of civilians desperately waiting for needed food supplies. Hospitals said they received more than 150 casualties, some in critical condition. 'As the convoy approached, the surrounding crowd came under fire from Israeli tanks, snipers and other gunfire,' the WFP said in a statement. It voiced deep concern over this 'tragic incident' that resulted in the loss of many lives. 'These people were simply trying to access food to feed themselves and their families on the brink of starvation. This terrible incident underscores the increasingly dangerous conditions under which humanitarian operations are forced to be conducted in Gaza,' the statement added. Israel Blames Hamas The Israeli military put the blame on Hamas, accusing the Palestinian movement's elements of creating chaos. It said Israeli forces opened fire at a gathering of thousands of Palestinians who posed a threat. The Israeli military acknowledged some casualties, but said that numbers reported by officials in Gaza were far higher than the findings of its initial investigation. Malnutrition Risks The WFP warned that the hunger crisis in Gaza has reached 'new levels of desperation' due to lack of humanitarian assistance and the spread of malnutrition among women and children. 'Malnutrition is surging with 90,000 women and children in urgent need of treatment. Nearly one person in three is not eating for days,' it said. As a result, the UN agency called for an immediate ceasefire to scale up food supplies distribution. 'We urgently call on the international community and all parties to advocate for, and facilitate, the delivery of life-saving food aid to starving populations inside Gaza – safely, securely, wherever families are, and without obstruction,' the WFP said. New Evacuation Orders The Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for parts of central Gaza, one of the few areas where Israel has rarely operated with ground troops. These areas also host large crowds of displaced people and several international organizations trying to distribute humanitarian assistance. The military also reiterated evacuation orders for northern Gaza. The new evacuation orders direct residents and displaced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah to move south towards al-Mawasi, saying that the Israeli military 'continues to operate with great force to destroy the enemy's capabilities and terrorist infrastructure in the area.' In response, the UN OCHA warned that the new evacuation orders 'dealt yet another devastating blow' to humanitarian efforts in Gaza, as Deir al-Balah hosts between 50,000 and 80,000 people, including some 30,000 people sheltering in 57 displacement sites. 'The newly-designated area includes several humanitarian warehouses, four primary health clinics, four medical points, and critical water infrastructure: the Southern Gaza Desalination Plant, three water wells, one water reservoir, one solid waste dumping site and one wastewater pumping station. Any damage to this infrastructure will have life-threatening consequences,' it said in a statement. Short link : Post Views: 81
