TOSS: Proteas captain Temba Bavuma elects to bowl in World Test Championship final at Lord's

Proteas captain Temba Bavuma has won the toss and elected to bowl in the World Test Championship final at Lords against Australia.
Lord's has been bedecked by cloud cover all Wednesday morning and Bavuma had no hesitation in sending the Aussies in to have first strike.
"I think we have selected the best team for these conditions. Massive [occasion]. You can hear the South African accents as well in the stands. Should be a spectacle," Bavuma said.
Australian captain Pat Cummins says his team are ready for the challenge of batting first.
"Preparation has been unreal. All the guys in the team are ready to go. Everyone's come together and we have had about ten days of preparation," Cummins said.
"I don't think there's any extra pressure. We've been here before and won it. So it's just about going out and enjoying it."
Former England fast bowler, Stuart Broad, who assisted the Proteas with their preparations, did the pitch report.
"The clouds are intriguing me. I think the pitch looks nice, particularly on day two when the sun comes out. Captains have leant towards bowling here but the results have leant towards teams batting first. If you bowl first, the new ball bowlers need to be on the money," Broad said.
"You need to get used to the slope early on and settle. When you are bowling at the Pavillion end, bowling to the right-hander, you try to move it towards the stumps for bowled and lbw and from the Nursery end, you try to move it away to get the edges."

'Brighton coach favoured Trossard'
Former Al Ahly striker Percy Tau has explained his decision to leave Brighton and Hove Albion. The 31-year-old joined The Seagulls in 2018, but due to work permit complications, he was loaned out to Belgian side Union SG for a year. Following that, he had successful loan spells at Club Brugge and Anderlecht before finally making his debut for Brighton in 2021. However, Tau only made six appearances for Brighton before leaving for Al Ahly later that same year. Speaking to Robert Marawa on Radio 94.7 , Tau expressed that he felt his former coach, Graham Potter, did not give him a fair chance. 'We feel like it's a league where you can go and test yourself,' he said. 'And what it also requires is a lot of hard work because there's not much training in the Premier League. The games are more intense, so there's a lot of recovery, which is something that affected me when I was there. 'I'm a guy who prefers training because that's where I prove myself, and then I find that we play on a Saturday, off Sunday, off Monday, then we train on a Tuesday and we're off on a Wednesday, Thursday, then play. Tau mentioned how it was difficult for him to feature as Brighton were fighting relegation at the time. 'It was frustrating and I spoke to the coach many times, telling him that I wanted to play. He will say to me, 'but [Leandro] Trossard is doing well' and I said, 'yes, he is doing well because he is getting so many opportunities' Tau said he asked the former Brighton coach to play him more to impress. 'The following season, I stayed; I did not go to the Olympics. I tried to impress the coach and I did well in the friendlies,' he said. The former Mamelodi Sundowns player featured for Brighton in most of their friendly pre-season matches; however, he was benched when the season started. Perfect Cummins flattens Proteas
Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets minutes before lunch to keep South Africa's hopes aflicker after a devastating spell from Australian captain Pat Cummins put his side in the ascendancy on the second day of the World Test Championship final. As he did in the first innings, the spearhead of the Proteas attack dismissed Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green in one over to put smiles on his teammates' faces. Australia went to tea on 32/2, a lead of 106 runs, with Marnus Labuschage on 16 and Steve Smith on 4. South Africa will need a lot more magic in the final session on Thursday if they are to narrow the gap to the Australians, for whom Cummins was magnificent as the spearhead of the effort that saw the Proteas bowled out for a miserable 138. His post-lunch spell read 4.1—1-4-4 and saw him finish with 6/28, the kind of performance that, coupled with his display in the 50-over World Cup final against India two years ago, will only strengthen the argument that he belongs among the greats of the game in his own country.
