Suryvanshi will open the innings for the Ayush Mhatre-led India U-19 team in the upcoming five youth ODIs and two youth Tests against England.
14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, after making headlines for his explosive batting for Rajasthan Royals in the recently concluded 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League, has kicked off his preparations for India's upcoming U19 tour of England. The India U-19 team will travel to England later this month to take on the hosts in five youth ODIs and two youth tests. The first youth ODI will be played at County Ground in Hove on June 27.
17-year-old Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre will lead the India U-19 team. The Mumbai-based top-order batter was announced as India's captain last month. He will open the inning with Suryavanshi.
Suryavanshi, who won the Superstriker of the Season award in IPL 2025 for amassing a total of 252 runs in seven matches for Rajasthan Royals with a strike rate of 206.55, has kicked off his preparations ahead of the month-long tour. In a video going viral on the internet, the left-handed batter can be seen hitting towering sixes during the NCA U19 camp in Bengaluru.

In IPL 2025, Suryavanshi made his debut against Lucknow Super Giants on April 19 in Jaipur and opened his account with a first-ball six. During RR's 10th league match played against Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 28, Suryavanshi hammered a 35-ball century and helped RR chase down the target of 210 runs in 15.5 overs.
By crossing the 100-run mark in just 35 balls, Suryavanshi became the youngest batter (14 years, 31 days) in history to score a century in a T20 match, and he also broke the record of being the fastest Indian batter to score an IPL century.
In that match, Suryavanshi hammered 11 sixes, which helped him equal the record of hitting the most sixes in an IPL match by an Indian batter.
In RR's last match of the IPL 2025 season, which was played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 20, Suryavanshi scored a fifty (57) against Chennai Super Kings. He faced 33 balls during his stay at the crease in the 188-run chase and hammered 4 fours and as many sixes.

KSCA officials quit hours after HC shield from arrest

Karnataka State Cricket Association's (KSCA) secretary A Shankar and treasurer ES Jairam have resigned from their posts, owing moral responsibility for the tragic stampede at Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday, hours after the Karnataka High Court granted them protection from police arrests. In a letter to KSCA president Raghuram Bhat, they said they wished to own moral responsibility though their role was very limited. The stampede and congestion near the stadium led to the death of 11 cricket fans and injuries to scores of others. The resignations followed the state government launching a crackdown on the agencies involved in organising the felicitation events at the Chinnaswamy stadium after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the first time. On Thursday, chief minister Siddaramaiah ordered the arrest of senior executives of RCB, KSCA and event manager DNA Entertainment Network. Shankar and Jairam, along with Bhat, moved the High Court on Friday after the police charged the three organisations with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. In their petition, the KSCA office bearers said the association was only a governing body of cricket in Karnataka with affiliation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It has nothing to do with IPL events and Wednesday's celebrations were organized by RCB franchise and managed by its vendor DNA Entertainment Network, they argued. KSCA's role was limited to making the stadium and its infrastructure available to RCB and DNA. The police, the petitioners alleged, registered the FIR against them under intense pressure and compelling circumstances without any preliminary enquiry.

India Stars Return Empty-Handed After Shambolic Run At Archery World Cup 2025

India's 16-member squad endured a shambolic campaign at the Archery World Cup 2025 Stage 3 after falling short in securing medals across recurve and compound events in Antalya. The Antalya leg, which commenced on Wednesday and will conclude on Sunday, will not feature an Indian archer competing in the singles event for medals, according to Four-time Olympian and India's seasoned archer Deepika Kumari, who had clinched bronze in Shanghai, was defeated 6-0 by Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion An San of the Republic of Korea in the second round. An San later squared off against Simranjeet Kaur in a closely contested quarter-final on Saturday. Simranjeet, ranked 54th after qualification, came close to orchestrating an upset, leading 5-3 at one stage. However, Simranjeet floundered in the fifth set, which allowed An San to equalise at 5-5. An San went on to dominate and delivered 11 in the shoot-off to win the contest with a 6-5 scoreline. In the men's category, Parth Salunkhe, bronze medallist in Shanghai, suffered a shock first-round exit in the individual recurve event along with Olympian Tarundeep Rai. Meanwhile, Dhiraj Bommadevara, India's top qualifier at 13th, allowed a 4-2 lead to slip from his palms in the second round encounter against Chinese Taipei's Tang Chih-Chun by a 6-4 scoreline. Atanu Das was also ousted in the second round, after succumbing to a defeat against Paris 2024 silver medallist Brady Ellison of the USA. The recurve men's team of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Atanu Das and Parth Salunkhe crashed out following a 5-1 defeat against France in the third-place playoff. In the compound archery events, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, the reigning Asian Games champion, returned empty-handed after losing to Estonia's Meeri-Marita Paas 152-150 in the second round. Madhura Dhamangaonkar, who secured a gold medal in women's individual compound in Shanghai last month, suffered a bitter defeat against Mexico's Mariana Bernal 159-152 in the quarter-finals. Reigning women's world champion Aditi Swami was overwhelmed by Mexico's Andrea Becerra 152-147 at the same stage. Listen to the latest songs, only on
