TAQA Distribution, ADGM enter digital billing solution deal

TAQA Distribution, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), has signed a strategic agreement with ADGM, a leading international financial Centre in the region to enhance utility management services for residential tenants withing its jurisdiction on Al Maryah and Al Reem Islands.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Omar Al Hashmi, CEO of TAQA Distribution, and Hamad Al Mazrouei, CEO of ADGM Registration Authority.
Under this partnership, TAQA Distribution will manage billing, payment processing, and customer relationship management (CRM) services related to authority fees, streamlining the tenancy experience for over 16,000 residents across both islands.
By integrating tenancy related fees into a bespoke power and water utilities bill within the ADGM system, this collaboration simplifies the process from lease application to bill payments and account closures. This initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi Program for Effortless Customer Experience, ensuring a seamless, fully automated journey at every stage of the tenancy lifecycle.
Over the next 12 months, tenants will transition to the new system, benefiting from enhanced service efficiency and digital-first solutions. As part of the agreement, TAQA Distribution will manage the collection and administration of Authority fees related to tenancy contracts, further streamlining processes for residents.

The MoU was signed by Omar Al Hashmi, CEO of Taqa Distribution, and Elena Sorlini, MD & CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, in the presence of senior officials and industry stakeholders. Al Hashmi said the deal allows Taqa Distribution and Abu Dhabi Airports to join forces to advance Abu Dhabi's vision of becoming a global aviation hub. "Our core expertise in conceptualising, implementing, and operating utility assets will facilitate our seamless integration within Abu Dhabi Airports' operations, significantly enhancing infrastructural efficiency to better serve millions of passengers and support the Emirates' economic and logistical goals," he stated. Zayed International Airport (AUH), a key aviation hub for the UAE, benefits from collaborations with strategic partners like Taqa Distribution, focusing on sustainable and innovative growth. These partnerships bolster Abu Dhabi's commitment to increasing capacity and improving operational efficiency, ensuring its status as a premier gateway for the region, he noted. On the deal, Sorlini said: "As the aviation sector evolves, utility resilience and sustainability are indispensable for long-term success. The Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of ADGM in Abu Dhabi on Monday announced Dh610,000 fine on 23 companies for violating reporting and tax regulations. The companies have been fined under the Common Reporting Standard Regulations 2017 and/or the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Regulations 2022, which require entities to collect and report information on foreign account holders to help combat international tax evasion. The regulator added that action has been taken for compliance breaches and failures to submit risk assessments, required annual information returns, follow due diligence procedures, report information in a complete and accurate manner, and collect valid self-certification forms. The UAE entered into agreements with other countries for global tax transparency by facilitating the automatic exchange of financial account data between different jurisdictions. In April, FSRA imposed millions of dirhams fines on the Hayvn Group of Companies, its former CEO Christopher Flinos and related entities after an investigation found serious regulatory breaches and misconduct into regulatory breaches and misconduct. Emmanuel Givanakis, CEO of the FSRA at ADGM, said this decision reflects UAE's commitment to financial transparency and alignment with global commitments to information exchange. 'We are committed to identifying and addressing practices that do not meet our commitment to combat tax evasion through implementing robust and effective regulations in line with leading global standards of compliance and reporting responsibility,' said Givanakis.
