Polytechnic Jelajah Hawana 2025 promotes responsible social media use

SHAH ALAM: The Jelajah Hari Wartawan Nasional (HAWANA) 2025 Bersama Siswa programme aims to cultivate responsible digital behaviour among polytechnic students.
Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PSA) Polytechnic Director Zainah Rujihan highlighted the importance of ethical internet and social media use.
She said the programme provides valuable exposure to students on managing digital platforms responsibly.
'As digital society members, we must be guided and ethical in using digital media,' she said during the launch.
The event was officiated by Communications Ministry Senior Division Secretary Mazlan Abd Mutalib.
Bernama CEO Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj also attended.
Zainah emphasised the need for media support to promote polytechnic and community college initiatives.
She noted POLYCC's role as Malaysia's largest Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) provider.
'Media collaboration will help elevate TVET's impact nationwide,' she added.
PSA student Muslihuddin Farihin Mustapha said the programme teaches authentic news verification via MyCheck.My.
'This helps us distinguish genuine information,' the 20-year-old mechanical engineering student said.
Marketing student V. Keertna Pilaay, 22, gained insights into photography and video production techniques.
'These skills will enhance my marketing career,' she said.
The 2025 edition expands to polytechnics after last year's success in public universities.

Perlis Connect boosts digital literacy and local entrepreneurship

PADANG BESAR: The 'Perlis Connect' programme was held here to expand digital literacy and empower local entrepreneurs. Organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Bernama, the event featured interactive initiatives. Key activities included an information session on international roaming services and cybersecurity under the Safe Internet Campaign (KIS). The MCMC NEXUS application was also demonstrated to showcase digital advancements. Local entrepreneurs from the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) exhibited and sold their products. 'This programme aims to expand digital awareness and support the local innovation ecosystem,' said a joint statement by MCMC and Bernama. The event also featured an MCMC Complaints Counter for public reports and inquiries on communication services. Bernama amplified the event through live interviews, news coverage, and broadcasts from its Mobile Studio. The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, officiated the programme. Also present were Perlis State Legislative Assembly speaker Rus'sele Eizan and Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa. Anwar said the large-scale project, fully driven by the private sector through a strategic collaboration between Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) and Railway Assets Corporation (RAC), involves a total Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM6.25 billion. In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ipoh Sentral Development project this evening, the Prime Minister expressed hope that Ipoh Sentral would serve as the best example of development, grounded in MADANI values.
