According to the IMD-Amaravati, around ten locations in the state recorded above 40°C on Thursday. Nandyal was the hottest in Rayalaseema region on Thursday with 42°C, followed by Kurnool (41.6°C), YSR Kadapa (41.6°C), Anantapur (41.1°C), Nandigama (41.1°C) Tirupati (41°C), Nellore (40.6°C), and Amaravati (40.2°C).
Despite a maximum temperature of 36.2°C, high humidity — ranging from 68% to 75% in Vizag city, caused discomfort for Vizagites on Thursday.
The weathermen explained, as the temperature increased and land heats up in coastal regions, it draws moist air from the sea, leading to high relative humidity, thus increasing the discomfort level.
IMD said humid and uncomfortable weather with gradual rise by 2 to3 degrees in maximum temperature were likely over coastal AP and Rayalaseema regions on Friday and Saturday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely at isolated places over north coastal AP from Friday to Monday.

A section of the Gangotri highway near Dharasu has reopened, while work on Yamunotri's blocked stretches at Kuthnaur and Naradchatti was completed after two hours of effort,' district disaster management officer Shardul Gusain said. Water levels at a temporary lake formed in the upper reaches of Harsil following the Dharali flash flood receded by 1 to 1.5 metres on Thursday after manual channelisation carried out by irrigation department teams. 'Embankments were being strengthened to protect nearby habitations and apple orchards, which are central to the local economy. Marshy conditions due to fine silt deposits are hampering the use of Army-provided machines. The IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Bageshwar and Champawat on Friday, warning of extremely intense spells at isolated spots. Heavy showers are also likely across hilly districts and Udham Singh Nagar. On Saturday, Dehradun, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh face an orange alert, with thunderstorms and lightning predicted. Officials have urged pilgrims and tourists to remain cautious, warning of possible landslides, flash floods, and travel delays. The state disaster response force (SDRF) and local police have been instructed to remain on high alert, with continuous monitoring of vulnerable zones along highways.

In the past day, Alipurduar's Buxaduar recorded 19 cm of rain, while multiple tea estates in Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling have logged 7-13 cm. Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Kolkata stated that 'an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal at 5.8 km above mean sea level. The monsoon trough now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Datia, Sidhi, Ranchi, Bankura, Digha and thence south eastwards to east central Bay of Bengal and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Under the influence of the above meteorological condition, light to moderate rainfall at most places over West Bengal, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over some districts, (is) very likely to occur in the next two days.'
