Kim Kardashian's Offer To Get Sentimental Family Item From O.J. Simpson's Estate Slammed As Low

Kim Kardashian's Offer To Get Sentimental Family Item From O.J. Simpson's Estate Slammed As Low

Yahoo14-03-2025

Kim Kardashian's attempt at reuniting her famous family with an item connected to her late dad is proving difficult.
"The Kardashian" star's move to purchase a rare item from O.J. Simpson's ongoing estate auction was blocked by legal restrictions and perceived low price.
Kim Kardashian's late father, Robert Kardashian, famously represented O.J. Simpson in court while he was on trial for the murder of his estranged wife, Nicole Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
The item in question was a Bible Robert gifted to the convict the day after he was taken into custody for the murder of his ex-wife. Malcolm LaVergne, the executor of O.J.'s estate, who is in the process of selling his assets to settle outstanding debts, received an offer from Kim for the bible.
The business owner reportedly offered $15,000 for the sentimental item, but Malcolm turned it down because it was already under contract with the court to be auctioned off. The executor said:
"The amount is why I had no choice, because why would I spend $15,000 of estate money —why would I spend $15,000 in attorney's fees — to sell it to Kim for $15,000?"
Malcolm added: "That's a zero-sum game. That's a bad business model. If Kim had offered $150,000, we would've been in court getting this approved outside of the auction."
According to PEOPLE, the executor noted that the budding attorney can still bid on the bible online, and while it already has a bid of $9,800 on it, Malcolm said that Kim may eventually purchase the item for less than her bidding price.
Malcolm shared that the bible came with a heartfelt note from Robert to his dear friend. The note was reportedly dated June 18, 1994, which was the day after O.J. was charged with double murder.
"O.J., this book will help. God loves, and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book every day. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child, and he will use you again. I love you, and God loves you," Robert wrote in the note.
Robert and O.J. shared a close bond, and his decision to represent him during the murder trial led to O.J.'s acquittal on all counts. He was, however, found guilty in a civil trial in 1997.
Kim's father passed away in September 2003 at the age of 59, only eight weeks after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
In 2008, O.J. encountered another legal issue and faced time in prison. Nine years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping. He died in April 2024 from prostate cancer at the age of 76.
Since his death, all the Kardashian kids have continually honored their father's life in various ways. The mogul, her sisters Kourtney and Khloe, her brother Robert J., and her mother Kris Jenner have all been vocal about upholding the late Robert's legacy.
Kim has gone a step further by enrolling in law school to become a legal luminary like her father. She famously passed the baby bar exams in 2021 and has lent her voice to numerous pleas for criminal justice reforms.
In her 2020 Oxygen documentary, "Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project," Kim shared insights into how her legal work has made her feel a deeper connection to her late father.
She described moments when she experienced frustration while studying late into the night, reflecting on how these challenges often reminded her of him and their shared passion for justice. Kim said:
"I could be frustrated and studying really late and have to get up and wonder how he did it, having four kids and must've been going through some of the same things that I have gone through," she said. "So it would have been exciting to talk to him about that, and I know that he would be so, so proud."
The Kardashian clan came together once more in 2019 to pay homage to Robert's legacy by attending the opening of UCLA's Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health in Los Angeles in 2019.
As reported by PEOPLE, Kim and Khloe attended the event and were supported by their half-sisters Kendall and Kyle Jenner, as well as other members of Robert's family. The SKIMS owner took to her Twitter (now X) at the time to announce the goal behind the center:
"So proud to announce the Robert G Kardashian center for esophageal health being launched at UCLA. My wish is that other families can have more information and we can also focus on health and prevention."
Khloe informed the public that the wing will "provide resources for groundbreaking research, patient care and education/training, in addition to support of efforts in esophageal health."
It is no doubt that after Robert's death, Kris swung into action to make something out of his memory and their children, a mission that paid off with billions of dollars.
Now, The Blast noted that Kim is set to replicate her loving mother's feat by painstakingly managing her first daughter's career and finally getting a taste of Kris's world.
According to inside sources, Kris is beyond thrilled about Kim following in her footsteps and is more than willing to offer her all the helpful tips to help advance North's career.
The source highlighted the significant sacrifices made by the momager in dedicating her time and effort to managing her children's successful careers.
Despite her relentless work, there is a sense that her contributions often go unrecognized by her family. According to the source, balancing a momager's demanding role can sometimes feel thankless.
The source added that the family matriarch is "pretty happy that Kim's getting a taste of what it's like and how exhausting it is. Kim's already complaining about all the time it takes out of her own schedule, and she's asking Kris for her help."
Will Kim Kardashian eventually clinch the bible and further preserve her father's memory?

Glen Powell's Ex Gigi Paris Breaks Her Silence on Sydney Sweeney Romance Rumors After Their Public Split: 'I Hope They're in Love'

Gigi Paris appeared on Emma Klipstein's Too Much podcast on June 10 and opened up about her public breakup with Glen Powell The model and actor's split was confirmed in April 2023 amid speculation about Powell's chemistry with then-costar Sydney Sweeney as they promoted their rom-com Anyone But You, though a source told PEOPLE there was no truth to rumors about Sweeney playing a part in the breakup Addressing the rumors, Paris said of her ex and his costar, "I hope they're in love"Gigi Paris is speaking out about her highly publicized split from Glen Powell more than two years later. The model joined influencer Emma Klipstein for an honest conversation in a recent episode of her Too Much podcast. During the episode, which was released on Tuesday, June 10, Paris broke her silence on their split and how a phone call from Powell changed everything — and addressed the romance rumors between the star and his Anyone But You costar Sydney Sweeney while they were dating. Paris revealed that the pair's relationship, which PEOPLE confirmed was over in April 2023, began to break down six months before their eventual split, which came amid fan speculation about a romantic relationship between Powell, 36, and Sweeney, 27. While not naming Powell or Sweeney, Paris referenced the speculation online about the pair and shared, "It was just, this is what I have to do for my job. I had two options. I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, 'Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this? What the f---?' Or stand up for myself and say, 'No, I'm actually not okay with this, and I'm walking away.' So that's what I decided to do ... I was shattered." "I just wanted respect, especially if it's gonna be public," she continued. "Like, don't make an ass out of me. Like, just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know? And at the end of the day, it was like, well, work comes first. And if that's the case, power to you, that's your priority. I gotta walk away. What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs." Paris then went on to criticize Powell for not shutting down the rumors at the time. "Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, 'No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn't do that.' That's all that needed to be said. And that wasn't said ... Never once." "It was serving them for their PR. Later on, it turned out that it was all, I don't know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship. Like, it was just crazy." "Just to sell a movie or not, who knows?" she continued, "And I honestly hoped that they'd end up together, because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me, you know? I hope they are in love or whatnot." Representatives for Powell and Sweeney did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. During the promotional tour of Anyone But You in April 2023, Powell and Sweeney touted their chemistry during an appearance for the rom-com at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Months later, Sweeney addressed the romance rumors during an interview with Variety. "It's a rom-com. That's what people want!" she said. "Glen and I don't really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he's such a hard worker, and I'm a hard worker." The Euphoria star added, "They want it. It's fun to give it to 'em.' During an interview with Insider in December 2023, Powell opened up about the tension in his personal life, between his breakup with Paris and his promotional appearances with Sweeney ahead of their rom-com's premiere. "Well, look, the only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour," Powell said of his and Sweeney's decision to "lean in" to their onscreen chemistry. is now available in the Apple App Store! "I was with someone that I really loved and cared about and was trying to kind of make sense of a lot of stuff," the Twisters star shared. "It was a lot easier for Sydney to lean into something like that because she's in a very committed and wonderful relationship and she's very happy. So it was a little harder for me." (At the time Sweeney was engaged to Jonathan Davino, though they called it off earlier this year.) Klipstein went on to ask Paris if she ever got "clarity of whether or not you were cheated on," to which Paris responded, "I have heard so many different sides of the story. I have no confirmation of what actually happened. I just know what my standards are. And for me, it just wasn't okay the way it was handled, period." In April 2023, PEOPLE confirmed that the actor and Paris broke off their relationship after three years of dating. According to a source, their relationship had previously been on the rocks, and his various filming locations put a strain on the dynamic. "Gigi and Glen had broken up several times," the source told PEOPLE in 2023 at the time of their breakup. "They had been on the rocks since Top Gun came out. Gigi was never happy with the long distance filming and when she came to Australia [where Powell was filming Anyone But You] they both decided to break up for good." During her podcast appearance, Paris denied distance was behind the split and detailed flying to Australia — where Powell was filming Anyone But You — to end things with the actor after a phone call she got from him changed everything. "I got a phone call from him right when I was about to go to Australia to work," Paris said, adding that "all this s--- was coming out on the Internet." "And he called and said, the producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to visit ... And that's when I hung up. And I was like, this motherf----- is done to me," she added. "That phone call really is what broke me," she continued. "I thought we had hope, like, maybe when I got there that, like, things would maybe get better. But once I got that phone call, I just knew it was done. I had lost whoever that person was that I loved." "I went anyways just to look him in the eye and break up with him," Paris said, adding "it was the hardest thing I'd ever had to do." "But then I was stuck there for two weeks doing my jobs. And there was a rule, like, I was not allowed near set. I was not allowed anywhere near production. It was very bizarre," she added. The Hit Man star and Paris were first linked in early 2020 when they were spotted on a romantic vacation in Mexico. The couple made their relationship Instagram official a year later. Amid their split, some speculated that Powell's chemistry with Sweeney played a role, especially after Paris unfollowed the Euphoria actress on Instagram. However, another source told PEOPLE there was no truth to the rumors. "Gigi only unfollowed Sydney on social media because Sydney never followed her back. This had nothing to do with Glen and Sydney. Gigi is aware that Glen and Sydney never hooked up," the insider said, adding that the model felt the distance when Glen was on set. "He takes his work very seriously, and it was tough on the relationship." Paris also addressed the more recent rumors about Powell and Sweeney amid Sweeney's breakup from her fiancé Davino. "Like I said, like, I hope that if they're meant to be, that they're meant to be. It's really none of my business anymore. Like, that's what I really wanted the end to be, is to just to walk away from that, because it's a f------ circus," she said, adding, "Like, the way that they handle things for headlines or whatnot, like, I don't live that way. So you do you. It's none of my business anymore." Read the original article on People🚨 Do you have a relationship problem that could use the help of Amy Robach and T.J. 5 new to Max movies to stream in June with 90% or higher on Rotten Tomatoes

Summer is heating up, and so are the best streaming services with plenty of great new movies to beat the heat. Max is no exception, but with so much on offer, it can be tough narrowing down which movies are worth adding to your watchlist. That's why we've combed through all the new movies to Max in June 2025 to highlight the best of the best. Only movies with a 90% or higher critics' score on the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes make the cut. Granted, not every movie with a high rating is guaranteed to be a hit, but it is a useful metric to see which films are beloved by critics and audiences alike. This month's batch includes everything from iconic sci-fi movies to MGM classic musicals and award-winning documentaries. So let's dive into five new to Max movies with a 90% or higher on Rotten Tomatoes that you need to watch right now. Bong Joon-ho made cinematic history with "Parasite," the first Korean film to win an Academy Award and the first non-English language film ever to take home the coveted Best Picture crown. If you missed the buzz the first time around, I can't recommend "Parasite" enough. It follows the struggling Kim family, who get a rare stroke of luck when son Ki-woo (Choi Woo-shik) lands a job tutoring the daughter of the wealthy, unsuspecting Park family. With a forged diploma crafted by his sister Ki-jung (Park So-dam), he secures the gig and paves the way for the rest of the Kim family to infiltrate the household under false identities. Ki-jung poses as an art therapist for the Parks' young son, while their father Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho) and mother Chung-sook (Jang Hye-jin) replace the family's driver and housekeeper through a series of calculated deceptions. Everything goes according to plan until one mistake unravels their carefully constructed façade, setting off a chain of events that spiral into chaos. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Rotten Tomatoes score: 99%Watch it now on Max The 1978 version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" is a perfect example of why some remakes are worth the wait. Donald Sutherland stars as Matthew Bennell, a health inspector in San Francisco who realizes too late that something sinister is happening. When his colleague Elizabeth (Brooke Adams) notices that her husband hasn't been acting like himself lately, together they start to uncover a terrifying truth: that a parasitic alien race has quietly begun taking over Earth. Unlike most remakes, this one was both a critical and commercial success. The 1978 "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" stands out for its eerie atmosphere and thoughtful approach, blending science fiction with sharp social commentary and a growing sense of paranoia that still hits just as hard today. Rotten Tomatoes score: 93%Watch it now on Max This 2016 documentary "I Am Not Your Negro" draws from the powerful, unfinished manuscript "Remember This House" by acclaimed American writer James Baldwin. Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, the film delivers an unflinching examination of racism in the United States, weaving Baldwin's words with historical footage and contemporary context that questions Black representation in Hollywood and beyond. Critically acclaimed, the documentary earned an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature and won a BAFTA in the same category. While it may not be the easiest or most entertaining watch on this list, it stands out as perhaps the most essential. Baldwin's words, brought to life through director Raoul Peck, come together in a powerful watch that confronts and questions the very core of what America claims to represent. Rotten Tomatoes score: 99%Watch it now on Max I'm a sucker for a musical, and "Meet Me In St. Louis" is an old favorite, featuring the legendary Judy Garland in one of her most memorable roles. She stars as Esther Smith, one of four daughters in the close-knit Smith family, who has her eye on the boy next door (Tom Drake). Rather than following a single plotline, the film unfolds through a series of seasonal vignettes, capturing moments in the lives of the Smith family as they navigate life, love and progress at the turn of the century. "Meet Me in St. Louis" is best remembered for Garland's unforgettable vocal performances. The film also introduced several timeless earworms like 'The Trolley Song,' 'The Boy Next Door,' and the beloved holiday classic 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.' All three songs, written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, remain iconic to this day. Rotten Tomatoes score: 99%Watch it now on Max All four of the original "Hunger Games" movies landed on Max this month, and whether you're a long-time fan or curious newcomer, I highly recommend diving into the series. Only one managed to crack a 90% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, though: the standout second film, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." It's a direct continuation of the first movie, so it's not an ideal place to jump in. If you haven't seen "The Hunger Games" yet, consider watching that first before adding this to your watchlist. "Catching Fire" picks up with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) returning to District 12 after surviving the 74th Hunger Games. But their victory hasn't freed them from the Capitol's grasp. As they embark on the high-stakes Victory Tour, it becomes clear that rebellion is brewing across Panem. In response, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) devises a chilling plan to extinguish the growing unrest once and for all. Rotten Tomatoes score: 90%Watch it now on Max

Conner Smith's Rep Gives Update After Nashville Fatal Accident

Rising country star Conner Smith's representative has now responded to the news that Smith was involved in a fatal accident in Nashville, TN, that left an elderly woman dead. Smith's rep told People that he was 'involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life.' Smith was not injured. The crash occurred on the evening of June 8, and Dorothy Dobbins, 77, was killed after being struck by a pickup truck driven by Smith, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department wrote in a news release. 'His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins' family during this incredibly difficult time,' Smith's rep's statement said, according to People. 'Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.' People noted that sources told the publication that Smith was not impaired at the time of the crash nor "distracted by his phone." Smith has 200,000 followers on Instagram. According to 9News, he is best known for the "viral hit 'I Hate Alabama' and released his debut album, 'Smoky Mountains,' in 2024." He "was nominated for New Male Artist of the Year at the ACM Awards last year," the station reported. "The pedestrian killed Sunday night after she was struck by a vehicle on 3rd Avenue North near Van Buren Street is identified as 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins," police wrote. "The preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by Conner Smith, 24, was traveling north on 3rd Avenue North as Dobbins was crossing the roadway," the release says. "It appears that she was inside a marked crosswalk when she was struck around 7:30 p.m. Dobbins, who lived nearby, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died." "The preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. He showed no signs of impairment. There are no charges at present as the investigation continues," the release Smith's Rep Gives Update After Nashville Fatal Accident first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 10, 2025
