PORT DICKSON: The Rahmah Madani Sales initiative has proven to be an effective measure to ease the people's cost-of-living burden.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the initiative continues to receive strong public support, particularly with its expansion to all regions nationwide, including suburban and rural areas.
He said that apart from providing immediate relief, the programme also serves as a valuable platform for the ministry to engage directly with communities to obtain feedback, including suggestions for improvements and additional stock preferences.
'The community has acknowledged that this programme truly reaches the grassroots and fulfils their daily needs.
'As we know, the allocation for the Rahmah Sales Programme has also been increased. So we hope that the 2026 Budget will further expand the programme's reach so that more people can benefit from it,' he told Bernama.
He said this during a visit to the Madani Rahmah Sales and Kenduri Rakyat programmes in Kg Pachitan here, held in conjunction with the Madani Ukhwah programme and the Madani government MPs retreat.
In addition to Kg Pachitan, Armizan said the programme was also held at Petanque Field, offering various types of goods at discounted prices.
He noted that public feedback efforts were further enhanced during the two-day retreat, where MPs engaged directly with residents to gain deeper insight into their everyday struggles.
'This initiative goes beyond simply selling affordable goods... it reflects how policy is shaped around the real needs of the people. That's why the active participation of MPs is crucial in representing the voices of their communities,' he added.
Armizan also said the Rahmah Madani Sales programme includes collaboration with the retail sector as a strategic partner, involving supermarkets and grocery stores to ensure its benefits are more widely felt.

Sara recipients can shop at over 470 premises in Sabah

Published on: Saturday, July 26, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jul 26, 2025 By: Clarence Dol Text Size: Armizan presents the grand lucky draw prize to the winner. RANAU: A total of 470 supermarket and grocery premises in Sabah are now part of the 4,152 nationwide outlets where Sara recipients can use their MyKad to purchase basic necessities. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said his Ministry is also exploring ways for the Sara aid to be used at Rahmah Madani Sales programmes (PJRM), especially in remote areas. As of July this year, RM410 million has been channelled to 830,000 STR recipients in Sabah, while RM500 million has reached 506,000 Sara recipients. Armizan, who is also Papar MP, announced this during the KPDN Carnival Tour and Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign 2025 for the Sabah Zone, held here from July 25 to 27. The event supports local entrepreneurs and promotes domestic products under the 'Let's Buy Local' theme, with KPDN targeting 2,276 PJRM series across Sabah this year and welcoming the recent RM300 million federal boost to the Rahmah initiative. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Ministry proposes broader access to essential items for Sara aid recipients

RANAU: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will collaborate with the Finance Ministry to expand access to essential items for recipients of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) aid. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the ministry had proposed that recipients be allowed to use their Sara aid at mobile Jualan Rahmah Madani Programme (PJRM) locations, in addition to existing participating retailers. He said, at present, recipients of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) aid could only purchase basic items at 4,152 participating supermarkets and retail outlets across the country, including 470 in Sabah. "This initiative enables Sara recipients, particularly in rural and interior areas, to use the aid credited to their MyKad to make purchases at Jualan Rahmah mobile locations," he told reporters after launching the Sabah Zone KPDN Carnival 2025 here tonight. Armizan said the additional RM300 million allocation for Jualan Rahmah would enable KPDN to increase its frequency nationwide, with a target of 20,000 series throughout this year. "For Sabah, KPDN is targeting 2,276 PJRM series throughout this year, and as of July 26, a total of 1,089 have already been implemented. "We will adopt several approaches to ensure the target is achieved by year-end," he said. He said the approaches included increasing the range of items offered and enhancing cooperation with strategic retail partners. "Through these improvements, the people will have more choices. The ministry can no longer act alone as it did in the past. For example, today's PJRM is carried out in collaboration with retail partners," he explained. Commenting on today's programme, this was the second year KPDN had implemented the programme, adding that six carnival tours would be held across the country this year. "The carnival in Ranau, held in conjunction with the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM), is the second in the series this year, and we expect around 60,000 visitors throughout the three-day event," he said. Armizan said that the main goal of the initiative was to bring government services, particularly those under KPDN, closer to the people, especially at the grassroots level. "The KPDN Carnival 2025 also serves as a catalyst in empowering KBBM through the theme 'Jom Beli Lokal' as part of ongoing efforts to support local products and strengthen the domestic economy. It is also a strategic move to boost domestic economic growth while helping local entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises expand their market reach. "At the same time, this initiative provides a platform to showcase the quality of local products, which can become the preferred choice and ultimately reduce reliance on imported goods," he said. –Bernama
