Ahmed hails Media Leadership Programme

Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, met participants of the Media Leadership Programme, an initiative launched by the council to develop the second line of government media leaders.
The programme is part of the council's broader mission to build a media ecosystem that strengthens Dubai's status as a global media hub.
Speaking during the meeting, Sheikh Ahmed said, 'Dubai's progress is the result of ambition, clarity of vision, and a relentless commitment to excellence. It is a story that deserves to be shared with the world. The Media Leadership Programme reflects our commitment to cultivating government communicators who can tell the Dubai story with credibility and conviction, and in ways that resonate with global audiences. The initiative is designed to equip our talent with the skills to craft compelling narratives that capture both our current achievements and future ambitions.'
Designed for professionals from 20 government and semi-government entities, the programme provides participants with the skills to lead strategic communication in a rapidly-evolving landscape. It blends academic insight, international best practice, and real-world application to ensure Dubai's government communicators can engage effectively with both regional and global audiences.
Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, said, 'Strategic communication is one of the most powerful tools in shaping perception and influence. The programme provides Dubai's emerging leaders with the insight, tools, and global perspective needed to articulate the city's story with confidence. We are building the next generation of storytellers who can capture the spirit of Dubai and translate it into meaningful, future-focused messaging.'

Participants stressed the need for strategies that combine technological innovation with strong professional ethics, noting that transparency and accountability are critical to rebuilding trust amid the spread of Hamed noted that media today faces a crisis of trust, as facts blur with falsehoods and algorithm-driven echo chambers deepen misinformation. He stressed the need to combine innovation with authenticity, invest in responsible AI, and build transparent media platforms. He called for redefining the journalist's role as a guardian of truth and a guide for audiences navigating a saturated information a session titled 'Philanthropy and Institutions: Funding the Future of News', Dr. Al Kaabi discussed the shift in advertising markets and evolving audience behaviours, with participants comparing traditional and modern revenue models—from public broadcasting and philanthropy to platforms like Substack and YouTube.A panel titled 'Entertainment and Cultural Power: The Geopolitics of Popular Culture', featuring Maryam BinFahad, NMO Advisor, explored how media as a soft power can shape stereotypes, influence culture and impact diplomacy and public 'Academic Institutions: Future Media Curricula', Dr. Amna Al Hammadi, NMO Advisor, examined how to prepare future media leaders to navigate a tech-driven, polarised landscape. She addressed the impact of AI-powered content and the evolution of digital session 'Media and Innovation: Automation and AI in the Newsroom', led by Alia bin Sheikh, Acting Executive Director of Development and Strategic Communications, brought together media and tech leaders to discuss how AI and automation are reshaping media workflows at all levels. Finally, 'The Future of Media: Voices Shaping Tomorrow' featured Omar Al Hemeiri, Institutional Development Project Manager at the NMO, discussing how to craft impactful stories, confront ethical and technical challenges, and reimagine the role of media in the coming era.
