Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson beats Eddie Hall's monstrous deadlift world record as rival posts classy response
The 2018 World's Strongest Man winner looked to make history last Sunday with a Herculean 505kg (1111lbs) deadlift.

Bjornsson sought to break the 500kg (1100lbs) record that fellow former WSM winner Hall set in March 2015.
The Icelandic giant, who is best known for playing 'The Mountain' in the hit HBO show ' Game of Thrones ', had previously broken the record in 2020.
Bjornsson's 501kg lift, however, was disputed by many, including Hall, as he performed it in his own gym and not in a competition setting.
But there was no disputing his mammoth 505kg lift at the 2025 Eisenhart Black Competition, which has gone viral.
Bjornsson pulled the titanic amount of weight with near-perfect form, barely arching his back and not pausing as he completed the lift.
The 36-year-old was mobbed by his pals after the lift, which he took to Instagram to reflect on.
He wrote: "505kg WORLD RECORD! History made again."

In fact, he was quick to praise Bjornsson for his incredible feat of strength.
Posting a video of the lift to his Instagram, Hall wrote: "Massive respect to Thor for making history & setting the official WR at 505kg.
"That's one hell of a pull. Records are made to be broken.
"Big respect, Big Love The Beast."

Desiree Burch is 46. For most comedians, this is the time to deliver your mildly grumpy show about middle age: the bodily decay; the annoying habits of the generation coming up behind you. That all features in The Golden Wrath, but it's ratcheted up to the nth degree. For Burch, middle age isn't a mild development, it's a cataclysm. The perimenopause apparently has 66 separate symptoms, and Burch's mind and body are weathering not a slow decline but an all-out attack. All-out attack is Burch's performance style too, in a show that hurls at us her experience of hormonal female midlife. It's a blast – because our host is a charismatic, bombastic stage presence, and because she textures the comedy of ageing with moral indignation alongside the physical indignity. Burch sets the scene by placing herself generationally, holding up her own gen X experience ('we walked so you could run') against those of the boomers, millennials and gen Z's in the room. This isn't always novel ('Do you guys remember the rotary phone?'), but it's playful and relatable, skilfully softening us up for the onslaught to come. Suffice to say, hers is not a perspective on the perimenopause that will have anyone looking forward to their 40s. She talks about the joints that suddenly stop working, the infuriating sleeplessness, and there's a loud, lurid routine about 'juicy pussies' v vaginal dryness. All those endless symptoms are itemised in a spoof advert for this grim life-stage, which Burch warns can last a decade. Arguably the show overplays its hand, making little allowance for other, milder experiences of female midlife, and overstating the degree to which menopause narratives are unheard. A strand protesting about gender inequalities in medicine, with reference to a connection between menopausal 'brain fog' and her mother's dementia, feels underdeveloped. A subplot about her mum's marriage and Burch's childlessness are imperfectly integrated. But Burch's extreme take on hormonal change remains uproarious, and is supplemented with strong standalone sections on her aversion to brushing her teeth and the contents of women's handbags (AKA 'a miniature bodega in every Louis Vuitton'). Hamilton casts doubt over future in F1 after poor finish for Ferrari in Hungary
Lewis Hamilton gave a remarkably downbeat response, prompting questions about his future in Formula One, after he managed only 12th place in the Hungarian Grand Prix, won by McLaren's Lando Norris, the former world champion suggesting he was in no little turmoil and that he would 'hopefully' return when F1 resumes after the summer break. Having qualified in 12th place in Budapest, describing the performance as 'absolutely useless' and stating that Ferrari should find another driver, he appeared equally unimpressed with his drive to 12th place in the race on Sunday. Afterwards he gave a dejected reply when asked about his comments from Saturday. 'When you have a feeling, you have a feeling,' he said. 'There is a lot going on in the background that is not great.' He did not elucidate on whether the issues were personal, or related to his career and Ferrari, but when asked if he was disillusioned with racing said: 'No, I still love it, I still love the team.' He was, however, unusually unengaged after the race at the Hungaroring. He gave monosyllabic answers to questions and when asked why, said: 'I have got nothing else to say.' He leaves the paddock on tenterhooks with the summer break beginning and the next round not until the Dutch GP on 31 August, about which he was similarly cryptic. He was 'very much' looking forward to the break, but when asked if he would be driving at the next round, was less equivocal: 'I look forward to coming back … Hopefully I will be back, yeah.' His Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur, maintained that his driver was just disheartened by a tough weekend. 'I don't need to motivate him, honestly, he's frustrated, but not demotivated,' he said. 'I can perfectly understand the situation. He's demanding. But that's why he's a seven-time world champion. 'He's demanding with the team, with the car, with the engineers, with the mechanics, with myself but first of all, he's very demanding with himself. I can understand the frustration from Lewis. This is normal. He will come back.' Hamilton's former team principal at Mercedes, Toto Wolff, also felt he would bounce back. 'Lewis is wearing his heart on his sleeve. It was very raw what he said [on Saturday], he was hard on himself,' Wolff said. 'We have seen it before when he felt he had not met his own expectations. He's been that emotionally transparent since he was a young adult. 'Lewis has unfinished business in Formula One. You ask me if he still has it? He definitely has it.'
