For the Record: Outside of a five-run inning against Padua, University's pitching has been lights-out. Three shutouts by Aaron Moss, Slater Scholaf and Crew Bellan lead the way. But the Preppers aren't a one-trick team, as displayed in the regional round. University has power from players including Tucker Greer and Deacon Nelson to take anything left over the middle of the plate deep. Or the Preppers can play small ball with Jack Nelson and James Bucci bringing in runs on line drives against CVCA. But it all hinges on the pitching and experience of the team's seniors, like Moss and Greer, who have played varsity since their freshman campaigns. Two more wins and the seniors bring home their first baseball state championship in school history. … Wapakoneta had a close call in its regional semifinal, holding off a three-run seventh inning by Toledo St. Francis de Sales. It has three strong pitchers in Grant Jolley, Drew Bailey and Daron Houser. Wapakoneta also brings strong bats with Bailey having a triple and two runs against Akron SVSM, plus four more driving in runs against the Irish. Against St. Francis de Sales, Jarrett Mullen hit a home run in the fourth that put the game out of reach. Wapakoneta has state runner-up finishes in 2012 and 2018 and is also seeking its first state championship.

Chicago Sky Coach Admits to Costly Mistake in Loss Against Dream
Chicago Sky Coach Admits to Costly Mistake in Loss Against Dream originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky had some high hopes on Friday as they battled the Atlanta Dream in a road game at Gateway Center Arena. Advertisement Entering the fourth quarter, the Sky were down by just four points, 58-54, as they found themselves in a good position to potentially snap their two-game losing streak. The Dream, however, had other plans. They came out firing in the fourth quarter and ended up outscoring their opponents, 30-16, in the final frame. In the end, Atlanta prevailed, 88-70, to improve to 7-3 on the season. The Sky, on the other hand, suffered their third straight loss, with all of them coming in blowout fashion. After the game, head coach Tyler Marsh spoke to reporters as he admitted to a mistake that cost his team. "We got to continue to find the positives from it," Marsh said, via Sky reporter Karli Bell. "We got to do a better job of stopping the bleeding. I used a lot of our timeouts early which hurt us late." Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh reacts during a Lee-Imagn Images As Marsh said, he burned their timeouts early in the game, which led to Chicago not having enough in the fourth quarter to put out the fire, so to speak. Advertisement To be fair, the Dream got an awe-inspiring performance from Rhyne Howard in this one, who tied the WNBA record for the most triples in a single game with nine. There was just no stopping the two-time All-Star and her hot hand in this one. Up next for Chicago is another road game against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. These two teams enter their matchup tied for the second-worst record (2-7) in the league.
