Sir Chris Hoy forced to leave hotel room at 4am after late-night blunder

Team GB icon Sir Chris was forced to change hotel room at 4am after a fellow guest staying above him left their bath running. Hoy, who won six Olympic gold medals in his cycling career, had travelled to Germany for the Ring Drivers' Convention in Nurburg, reports the Mirror.
The Scottish legend previously took up motor-racing after retiring from cycling in 2013. The Ring Drivers' Convention was held at the world-famous Nürburgring on Friday, with Hoy jumping into a Porsche 992 GT3 RS alongside former Top Gear host Chris Harris.
The former Olympian shared a selfie of the pair on social media, captioning it: "First time on the @nuerburgring, what a flippin' place. Thought I'd jump in for a passenger lap with this guy in his 992 GT3 RS to learn the lines. Says he knows what he's doing…"
Hoy had to stay over in Germany on Friday night at a hotel. But he was in for a rude awakening at 4am on Saturday morning when he was forced to pack up and move.
The 49-year-old revealed his ordeal on Instagram, posting a video showing water pouring from the light fixture and pooling on the bathroom floor. The water was from the room above Hoy, with that guest having left their bath running.
A frustrated Hoy wrote: "Big shoutout to the person who left their bath running upstairs and caused me to have to move rooms at 4am."
This latest ordeal comes after Hoy announced in February last year that he was battling prostate cancer. A tumour was found in his shoulder, and a scan later found the primary cancer in his prostate.
It has since metastasised to his bones - including his pelvis, ribs and spine. The cancer is terminal, with the Olympic hero being given two to four years to live.
Hoy issued an update on his treatment last month, admitting that the diagnosis had 'hit him hard'. But the Scot insisted that he was attempting to take a positive outlook.

"When you get given a stage four diagnosis, it's hard to describe how it hits you and how much of a shock it is," he said. "It takes away all the hope, because if you've got stage one, two or three there's always hope that actually you can beat this.
"I thought: 'I'd like to do something that reflects how I'm feeling right now, that, actually, life goes on.' Actually, a lot of people are living with stage four. I've been able to get fitter in the last 18 months; post-chemo I've been able to improve.
" Cancer has taught me to try to not worry about the future. When you feel fear or stress, it's all about trying to predict the future, and you may be wasting time worrying about the wrong thing entirely and it's only going to spoil your life at the moment."

King Charles' startling question to David Beckham two weeks before knighthood
Football icon David Beckham's long wait for a knighthood is finally over and it seemed he knew for some time as King Charles asked a very cryptic question last month David Beckham's wishes have finally come true as King Charles is making him a Sir in his Birthday Honours. After years of waiting and trying, the former England footballer, 50, will soon be able to add the title to his name. He was bypassed for a knighthood by the late Queen for decades, sparking much speculation over the years as to why he hadn't picked up the title. Year after year, David had been notably absent from the honours list. In 2013, it seemed his chances were dashed when explosive emails were leaked where he reportedly lashed out at the Honours Committee for not including him, referring to them as "unappreciative c***s." However, the tables have finally turned for David and he will finally get his honour next week. It seems he knew about the move for a while as King Charles ' cryptic comment to David now makes sense. The pair met each other at the Chelsea Flower Show last month alongside Queen Camilla, where a huge hint was dropped. During their meeting, King Charles asked: 'You got it, didn't you?' David replied: 'It was incredible, thank you. It was very kind.' Ex-royal butler Paul Burrell said last year that David shouldn't hold his breath for a knighthood citing three key reasons. Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Paul explained: "We haven't seen [ David Beckham knighted] yet because A, he's not old enough and B, he hasn't earned his stripes yet and C, he's still in a very commercial world." Paul added: "He's obviously been fast tracked for a knighthood, but not just yet and they're keeping him just dangling for a while. Because, you know, they're waiting to see what happens. "I think he is an excellent ambassador, not only for charitable foundations, but for our country. I think he's shown his worth, and I'm expecting it. Of course it's going to happen. The question is, when." He explained it was all just a matter of time for David and shared: "When will the King finally say it's time for David to receive his knighthood? I think he has to put some more work into the King's Trust, and I think he'll be seen many more times with the King and William before that honour comes his way." It seems Paul was completely right as just a little time later, David has now secured the elusive title. David's representative slammed the 2013 email reports, accusing them of being misleading and based on manipulated content. At the time, it was claimed he was particularly incensed by opera singer Katherine Jenkins receiving an honour, allegedly retorting: "Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops. F****** joke." A close pal of Beckham later spoke to the Mirror about the incident, revealing that although David regretted the messages, they were sent "in the heat of the moment". The friend said: "Genuinely, he wasn't as vitriolic as that, but you do say some things in private and in the heat of the moment. "To be honest, he does feel that he has given so much to his country. And sometimes you say things in private that anyone would say and you don't really mean it. While he was frustrated in those emails, he was over it the moment he sent them. Getting the knighthood is not what his work is about. He doesn't care if he gets a knighthood or not."

Sam Thompson 'in tears' during Soccer Aid challenge as Tony Bellew comes to the rescue
Sam Thompson has been battling through injuries and mental health struggles to complete his 260 mile charity challenge, and was supported by his former I'm A Celebrity co-star as he broke down in tears. Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson is on the verge of breaking down and heavily reliant on painkillers as he continues his gruelling Soccer Aid challenge. The former I'm A Celeb contestant has proven its far from an easy task, but has been rallied with support from his inner circle. The 32 year old can barely walk, let alone run or cycle, after tearing his calf muscle, but he is determined to complete the 260-mile challenge across five days. He has been inundated with encouragement and support from his pals. Fans were left touched on Thursday when he was reunited with his fellow I'm A Me Out of Here! campmate Tony Bellew, with the boxing legend tapping in with support for Sam, who has been visibly struggling. Their sweet reunion was shared on TikTok, as the 42-year-old former professional boxer greeted him and came to the rescue in the most legendary fashion - in a speed boat. He instructed Sam to get on his back, as he carried him to the boat, to push him across that day's finish line. It comes as disaster struck just a few kilometres into the challenge when Sam suffered a severe calf injury. He told the Mirror: "It was bad straight away. I couldn't walk or put barely any weight on it. I just burst into tears, as I thought how am I going to do the rest of this challenge? Letting people down just plays on my mind constantly." After a brief respite on his bike, Sam has incredibly returned to his feet, despite the considerable pain. He admits: "I'm really strapped up but I think it's getting worse. I'm mitigating with other bits of my body that are now starting to creak under the pressure. I've been running on my tiptoes but my ankles are now going which, in turn, leads to my knees going. I'm just trying not to think about it." Witnessing the TV personality hobble in pain each morning has been particularly difficult for his sister Louise. In a heartfelt Facetime, she expressed her admiration, saying: "You've been through a very tough six months regardless of training for this challenge, you've obviously been through this horrendous break-up and to throw yourself into something that is helping so many other people is just incredible." Sam parted ways with ex Zara McDermott after half a decade earlier this year, yet his commitment to power on with his charitable support remains unwavering. He's surpassed the impressive £1million target in his fundraising efforts for Unicef. Despite challenging conditions including torrential rain during an extensive cycle on his second day and battling personal struggles, Sam has maintained transparency about his mental health, including a recent autism diagnosis. His spirits have been lifted by a succession of celebrity companions as he makes his way from Chelsea's Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford in Manchester to deliver the ball for Soccer Aid's forthcoming match. Television personalities such as Josie Gibson, Chris Hughes, and Jamie Laing have offered support in difficult times, with a morale-boosting encounter with Pete Wicks providing additional encouragement. Expressing gratitude, he remarks: "I'm so blown away by people's generosity." He also highlights the impact of the endeavor: "It's all going to Unicef's work for kids around the world. I've seen it firsthand and know the difference it will make." On the fourth day of his extraordinary journey yesterday, Sam departed from Vale Park in Stoke-on-Trent. He was slated to conquer 57 miles, which would take him through locations like Sandbach, Middlewich, Ellesmere Port, The Wirral, and Birkenhead, before arriving at Goodison Park in Liverpool. As he pushes on, Sam carries with him the wisdom from running royalty Sir Mo Farah, who advised him prior to the start of his challenge: "Just put one foot in front of the other, and always believe in why you are doing it."
