Amazon cordless vacuum cleaner with 'fantastic' battery life now at record low price

Daily Record17-05-2025
Buyers claim it's "super easy to use" and it's currently at a record low price after a 30% price slash.
Amazon has slashed the price of a cordless vacuum cleaner by 30 per cent which shoppers have praised as "exceptional for the price". The Smoture VAC01 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is now available at a record low price of £119.50, offering customers a saving of £50.49 from its usual price tag of £169.99.
This model has also been awarded the Amazon's Choice label, a distinction given by the retailer to highly-rated and well-priced products that are ready for immediate dispatch. The Smoture VAC01 boasts 'powerful' suction due to its brushless 550w motor, which is claimed to remove even deeply embedded dirt.
It features a touch-screen display for switching between its four cleaning modes: Eco, Standard, Boost and Auto. In Auto mode, the vacuum cleaner automatically adjusts its suction power to match the floor type, whether that's increasing the strength for carpet or reducing it for easier-to-clean hard floors.
The display also alerts users to any blockages and shows the remaining battery life, which can last for up to 60 minutes, or 18 minutes on the powerful boost mode.
The Smoture vacuum is designed with a self-standing feature – allowing it to stand on its own without falling over – and comes with a wall-mounted charging station for easy storage.
With a 4.8-star rating, the Smoture VAC01 outperforms the 4.2-star rated Shark's Stratos Anti Hair Wrap Plus Cordless Vacuum, which is currently on sale from £349 go £199.
However, this model is said to feature Shark's 'best ever' hair pick up and offers the brand's popular de-tangling brush roll, reports the Mirror.
Another top-rated cordless vacuum set for a price slash is the vacuum HF9 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner With Anti Hair Wrap, which can be purchased for £139 using the code POWER.
This model boasts 4.7-star reviews and includes a pet hair tool and long crevice tool.
One pleased Smoture VAC01 customer stated: "My best buy this year. The build quality is excellent – it is very robust. The wall mount is great without being over fussy and includes a handy tool store.
"Using the machine is a doddle – it handles copious amounts of dog hair, and I am really impressed with the machine's power. A nice touch is the inclusion of spare filters, fragrance tablets and a handy cleaning tool. Would definitely recommend."
A second shopper commented: "Fantastic, love this vacuum. It picks up dirt really well and the suction is great for a cordless vacuum.
"The battery life is fantastic and it's super easy to hold and use. It's a lot better than my old Dyson and I will definitely be purchasing another in the future."
Tech deal of the week
Looking to bag a pair of wireless headphones, but don't want to pay out for Apple's AirPods?
Then look no further than Amazon, as the online giant has a selection of budget-friendly options that are said to deliver on quality. One such pair are the Donerton Wireless Earbuds.
Priced at just £18.99, these earbuds use 2025 Bluetooth 5.4 to seamlessly connect to any device, while the 13mm speakers deliver "crystal clear" and "vivid" sound quality that is said to be on par with pricier brands.
Using ENC noise cancellation technology and featuring four built-in microphones, they are ideal for taking phone calls when out and about, alongside listening to music, podcasts and audiobooks without interruption.
The ergonomic design is suitable for everyone, with three silicone shaped tips available to provide a secure and long-lasting fit. As they are IP7 waterproof, they are prevented from any damage caused by sweat and raindrops.
Meanwhile, the wireless charging case displays the remaining power of each earbud using dual LED technology and can provide up to 40-hours of playback, with a single fast 1.5-hour charge offering up to eight hours alone.
Averaging a 4.4 rating on Amazon based on over 18,000 reviews, they have been compared to Apple and Samsung by tech fans who have praised them as "far superior" and "brilliant."
One such review read: "These EarPods are brilliant ! The sound is great & everything you would expect from apple but so much cheaper. I've had apple EarPods from apple, these are on par. Highly recommended."
Purchase the Donerton Wireless Earbuds on Amazon for £18.99 here.
Another buyer added: "The best thing about this is how light and easy to manoeuvre it is on all floor surfaces. [The] suction is plenty powerful and the motor is not noisy.
"The controls are simple and easy to use and the display is clear. The lightness of the main unit coupled with the height adjustment feature make doing awkward areas such as stairs and ceilings nice and easy. The build quality is exceptional for the price and all round I'm very impressed."
However, not all customers are impressed, with one stating: "Nowhere near the same level of suction as a Dyson, but does the job. Decent on hard flooring, picking up bits, but needs more power for carpets."

'I took a driverless taxi in LA as tech giants prepare to bring them to UK'

An army of driverless 'robotaxis' is heading for UK shores after taking to the roads in the US - the Mirror's Jeremy Armstrong took one for a spin in Los Angeles An army of 'robotaxis' is heading for Britain next year after taking to the roads in the US. ‌ Baidu has partnered its Apollo Go taxi business with Lyft, one of Uber's main rivals. It is said to be planning a self-driving taxi service in the UK and Germany in 2026, with competition from a number of international rivals. The Sunderland Advanced Mobility Shuttle initiative is already testing a self-driving, emissions-free shuttle. It ferries passengers between three sites on public roads, a first for the North east. But driverless taxis have been a common sight in America since 2020, with millions of journeys completed across several different cities. ‌ ‌ The Mirror did a 'test ride' of the driverless Waymo taxis in LA to see what lies in store for UK road users and passengers. A strange sight greeted me shortly after arrival on US soil. On the way from Los Angeles airport, during the short 20-minute drive to Venice Beach, a Jaguar I-Pace fully electric SUV pulled up next to my vehicle at a traffic light. I spotted the 'Noddy style' hat on the roof straight away, and a woman passenger in the back. There was no driver, and that became a familiar scene on roads across the sprawling metropolis. It is a strange sight for any new arrival from the UK. There remains opposition to the technology, with the US refusing entry to Chinese-based operators in the country from 2027. But California-based Waymo has carried passengers on millions of journeys across America. And this is what lies in store for a road near you soon. My early morning departure from Newcastle meant a conventional taxi journey from a city centre suburb to the airport. My cabbie told me about the rise of Uber; he estimated there were thousands on the roads around the city. ‌ Any notion of a chat with the driver disappears when you climb into a Waymo. The first issue to tackle is getting aboard. Handles are retractable and flush with the door until you press the 'unlock the door' in the App (you can also enable automatic door unlocking). ‌ As you climb inside, and take your seat, the computer generated female voice asks if you are ready to start your journey. You are reminded to remain in the car unless there is an 'urgent need to exit'. There is then the surreal vision of the steering wheel moving around as if guided by an invisible driver. It reminded me of the 1971 Hollywood classic "Bedknobs and Broomsticks", when inanimate objects are brought to life by magic. ‌ My trip (you can take up to three passengers) was taking me through the quiet residential streets of Venice Beach, and a four-lane, mile-long street full of shops, bars, restaurants, and my destination, a coffee shop. You spin through the traffic at a very sedate pace and cross lanes to get in line, waiting at traffic lights to make a turn. There is an arrival time given, very similar to the Uber experience, and a map of the route to the destination. ‌ It takes a matter of minutes to download the app, order a cab and get underway. You can follow the arrival of your £130,000 Waymo Jag via your mobile phone, and track the planned route as you travel. ‌ It is a very relaxed ride, at a slow and steady pace, once you get used to the sight of the self turning steering wheel. We turn right at a busy junction before making our way to another set of lights for a left turn. This time the tight turn involves the navigation of a busy set of lights and a brief wait to make way, all with the use of satellite technology, sensors, and onboard cameras. We didn't get over 20-25 mph; the ride took a matter of minutes, covered under 2kms and cost $10 (£7.43). Most unusually for LA, they didn't ask for a tip. ‌ There is a strict no drink and drugs policy onboard, though how they check on the sobriety of passengers is unclear. There is a reminder to make sure that you have all your belongings as you alight, and then the driverless cab heads off for its next passenger. The key question is whether you would feel safe on an LA Freeway, UK motorway or navigating a bustling London street? That may be the key test for driverless passengers in the UK next year.

Flash sale axes 'small and powerful' fan that's 'better than Dyson' to under £23

If you're on the lookout for a new fan that's praised for its power and low noise output, look no further than this 'better than Dyson' model that's now on sale Whilst summer might be drawing to a close, scorching temperatures are still gripping Britain with some areas seeing the mercury soar above 30C this past week - and there's more sweltering heat on the way. Perfect timing then for Amazon to slash the price of a top-rated cooling device by 29%. The Honeywell Turboforce Power Fan, normally priced at £32.49, has been reduced to £22.99. The gadget, which boasts a stellar 4.5-star rating, has been hailed as "superior" to Dyson and "powerful" despite its compact design, reports the Express. Manchester Evening News journalist Bethan Shufflebotham put the fan through its paces. She revealed: "Despite its compact size of no more than 30cm in height or width, this Honeywell fan packs a punch. I've never felt the need to try a Dyson fan, as this device does an excellent job of keeping me cool during the summer months while working from home. It even outperforms the £20 tower fan I bought from Aldi in 2022." "The fan arrives fully assembled, making setup a breeze," Bethan noted. It features a three-metre cable and can tilt by 90 degrees. "Its sleek and minimalist design is far from an eyesore, and its lightweight nature allows for easy room-to-room movement," Bethan enthused. "Given its price, I'd recommend getting two - one for upstairs and one for downstairs." This fan boasts three speed settings and can be wall-mounted or used as a desk fan. Despite its power, Bethan was particularly impressed with its quiet operation. She noted: "The slowest speed is almost silent, making it perfect for work calls during the day, watching films or catching up on Love Island, and it doesn't disturb my sleep when used overnight. "The medium speed setting produces a gentle hum, delivering more of a breeze, but still, there's no need to reach for the volume button on the telly remote. The highest setting is noisier than the others, but no noisier than other fans we've tested over the years, and it's more than worth it for the performance." The fan has earned a top-notch customer satisfaction rating of five stars out of five on Amazon. One satisfied shopper said: "Extremely quiet, even on full power. Very strong breeze, a lot better than my Dyson hot and cold fan. Cannot fault this." Another added: " This fan is an absolute powerhouse. I have no clue as to how it can be so powerful for its size, but fair play to Honeywell. It's easily at least 10 times more powerful than the Dyson fan (a really bad purchase) we also have." However, one user was not impressed with the design of the settings switch, stating: "It's a decent enough fan in terms of airflow. The main problem is that the switch is in an awkward spot to turn on and off." The cooling device is available for next-day delivery, and Prime members won't face any delivery charges. But if you want to grab this fan at it's newly reduced rate, you'll want to act fast as there's now telling how long this sale will last. Meanwhile, if you'd rather shop the real deal, you can find the Dyson Cool CF1 desk fan for £249.99 at Dyson's own store, or check out this Igenix 12" Desk Fan which is selling for £25 at Dunelm.
