Israeli airstrike hits tribal fighters as Suwayda clashes resume
An Israeli airstrike on Sunday targeted a gathering of Bedouin tribal fighters in Suwayda province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

The strike coincided with renewed fighting between Druze groups and Bedouin factions, despite a declared ceasefire. According to the Observatory, tribal forces had launched an operation aimed at 'freeing detainees held by Druze armed groups.'
Clashes also broke out in Rima Hazem, Areeqa, and Shahba, involving mortar fire and medium-caliber weapons.
In Areeqa, several homes were set ablaze during the shelling, causing significant damage and raising concerns over a worsening humanitarian situation if the violence continues.

+125 Syrians leave Al-Hol camp in UN-assisted operation
Shafaq News – Damascus A total of 127 Syrians from government-held areas were evacuated from Al-Hol camp on Wednesday in coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), according to camp authorities. A camp official told Shafaq News that the group consisted of 36 Syrian families, marking the second wave of Syrian families to leave Al-Hol. The evacuees are originally from Aleppo, Homs, and Raqqa. Sheikhmous Ahmed, co-chair of the Office for Displaced Persons and Refugee Affairs in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, called on the Syrian government and the US-led Global Coalition to cooperate with the administration in facilitating the voluntary return of Syrian families from the camps. In May, an official delegation from the Syrian government visited Al-Hol camp in eastern Hasakah province, accompanied by representatives from the Global Coalition. The visit aimed to discuss the conditions of Syrian residents in the camp with local officials from the Autonomous Administration, Shafaq News reported at the time. Al-Hol currently hosts more than 13,000 Iraqi refugees, approximately 16,000 displaced Syrians, and over 6,000 women and children from foreign families affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS).

Poverty rate down in Iraq, unevenly across provinces
Shafaq News – Baghdad Iraq's poverty rate has steadily declined since 2007, though significant disparities persist across provinces, Diyaa Awad, head of the Central Statistical Organization at the Ministry of Planning, told Shafaq News on Wednesday. Noting that the national poverty rate has decreased from 23% in 2007 to 17.5% today, Awad explained that poverty is measured using detailed surveys based on scientifically approved methodologies, in cooperation with international organizations and agencies. He clarified that the 17.5% figure refers to material or income-based poverty, while a separate indicator—multidimensional poverty—currently stands at 11%. This measure accounts for deprivation in areas such as education, housing, and healthcare. 'Poverty indicators are mapped at the provincial level,' Awad said, adding that each province uses the data to identify local priorities. For example, al-Muthanna and Maysan provinces are particularly affected by educational deprivation, prompting collaboration with local governments and policy-makers to address these gaps. Awad affirmed that the Kurdistan Region is relatively better off than other provinces, but still faces challenges such as food security, climate-related shocks, and other local issues. 'Each province has its priorities depending on the specific deprivations it faces.' Multidimensional poverty is calculated based on five main factors, with education and health being among the most significant, he added. Earlier, Minister of Planning Mohammad Tamim announced the launch of Iraq's National Multidimensional Poverty Index Report, produced in coordination with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In a press conference, Tamim confirmed that the multidimensional poverty rate has dropped from 11.3% to 10.8%, noting that the decline is continuing gradually. He vowed the report, based on household social survey results, would directly support efforts to assess the essential needs of citizens across Iraq's provinces.
