'Boardwalk Empire' Star Michael Pitt Arrested For Alleged Sexual Abuse, Assault
'Boardwalk Empire' star Michael Pitt was arrested in New York City last week on charges of sexual abuse and physical assault, according to court documents.
Pitt was arraigned last Friday in Brooklyn and faces criminal charges including two counts each of first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree assault and attempted second-degree assault, as well as one count each of a first-degree criminal sexual act, a third-degree criminal sexual act and second-degree strangulation.
The actor is accused of attacking his then-girlfriend in four separate incidents in 2020 and 2021, the New York Post reported Tuesday, citing court documents alleging that he sexually assaulted her, strangled her and hit her with a cement block and a piece of wood on different occasions.
Pitt pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released after posting $15,000 bail.

'Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt — an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes — can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual,' Pitt's lawyer Jason Goldman told Variety.
'In reality, this baseless claim is suspiciously raised some four or five years after the alleged incident, at a time when the two parties were in a completely consensual and voluntary relationship,' the attorney continued. 'This case will be dismissed.'
Representatives for Pitt did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment.
The actor was previously arrested in July 2022 on assault and larceny charges for allegedly hitting a man and taking his phone. Pitt was placed on an involuntary psychological hold a few months later after reportedly throwing items at people from a rooftop in Bushwick.
The incident was treated as a mental health problem and resulted in no criminal charges.
Pitt's next court appearance is currently scheduled for June 17.

"Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case." Still, the drama continued when Justin's lawyers wrote a letter to a judge claiming that Blake had allegedly asked Taylor to delete their text messages and "that if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Ms. Lively's possession would be released." However, a source claimed that Blake and Taylor's friendship was still left "fractured" in the wake of it. "Their friendship has halted," a source purportedly close to Taylor told People last month. "Taylor wants no part in this drama," the source added, before clarifying it didn't mean they were "not no longer friends" — they were just "taking some space." Neither Taylor nor Blake addressed the report at the time, but now, almost a month on, a source has offered an update, telling People their friendship still "isn't the same." "[They] aren't as close and haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past," the source said. However, they claimed Taylor and Blake are trying to get back "on good terms." "Taylor is working to trust Blake again but it's going to take some time," the insider added. I guess we'll see what happens. Suffolk jails forced to hold 125 prisoners set for transfer because of state chaos
Suffolk County's jails are being forced to hold onto 125 felons who were supposed to be transferred upstate — with officials blaming state government chaos for the delay, The Post has learned. County Executive Ed Romaine blamed Gov. Kathy Hochul and said housing a growing number of state prisoners is putting staff in a dangerous situation as taxpayers are on the hook for hundreds of thousands in estimated extra costs. 'They've been convicted and are supposed to be in state prisons and they're not because the state is just not taking them,' Romaine told The Post. Ex-Louisville star Russ Smith arrested for suspicion of DUI, reckless driving
Louisville Metro Police arrested a former Louisville basketball star early Sunday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol. Russ Smith, a member of the 2013 Louisville basketball team who won the NCAA Tournament that was later vacated, was stopped after police spotted him making a U-turn across multiple lanes and noticed his license plate tag had expired, the Courier Journal reported after viewing the arrest citation. Smith had a 0.073 blood alcohol content, but in the state of Kentucky, drivers can still be prosecuted if they have a BAC of above 0.04 but below 0.08 as long as there is other evidence to support the case. 'That fact may be considered, together with other competent evidence, in determining the guilt or innocence of the defendant,' according to the statute in the state. A police spokesperson told WDRB that 'we will allow the arrest slip to speak for itself,' when asked about Smith's BAC.
