Inter had hoped to sign Ange-Yoan Bonny before their trip to North America for the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, new manager Cristian Chivu won't have the Frenchman at his disposal for the summer tournament.
Instead, he'll likely sign the papers after the Nerazzurri return to Italy.

Inter and Parma have already agreed terms for Bonny's switch to Giuseppe Meazza.
Indeed, the Serie A runners-up will pay around €25 million to sign the French striker.
However, the parties have yet to iron out the final details, and time is running out.
The Nerazzurri will board the plane for the United States two days from now.

As such, Bonny will not be on the manifest.
Meanwhile, the Esposito brothers will join the squad in the US, even though Pio Esposito is not 100% fit.
The same goes for Valentin Carboni, who missed almost the entire 2024/25 season due to a knee injury.

Club World Cup Odds: Bookies Heavily Favor European Teams

Club World Cup Odds: Bookies Heavily Favor European Teams originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Real Madrid are the favorites to win the Club World Cup (CWC), which kicks off on June 14th with Lionel Messi's Inter Milan vs Al Ahly. The full list of odds is at the bottom of this article. Advertisement For the first time ever the competition will bring together teams from all six of FIFA's continental confederations—UEFA (Europe, 12 teams), CONMEBOL (South America, 6 teams), AFC (Asia, 4 teams), CAF (Africa, 4 teams), CONCACAF (North and Central America, 5 teams), and OFC (Oceania, 1 team). The teams are competing for bragging the small matter of a $1 billion prize pool, with the winner set to collect a cool $125 million. That's about the equivalent of one world class player in the current transfer market. Real Madrid favored to win - again Not surprisingly the bookies heavily favor the European teams who regularly ran out winners in the CWC's previous "cup format" iteration. Real Madrid have won it five times, while Manchester City are the current title holders. It was last won by a team outside Europe in 2012 when the Brazilian team Corinthians captured the prize. Advertisement But the disparity in the odds is startling. The Europeans occupy 11 of the top 12 spots in the odds table, starting with Real Madrid at a 4.1-1. Meanwhile the most favored team outside of Europe is Brazil's Flamengo at 40-1. For those who like a an underdog, Australian team Auckland City are available at 2500-1. Tired legs provide hope to the rest of the world The thing that might tempt punters to look beyond Europe is the question mark as to how seriously European teams will take the event. Most are coming off a long hard season and certainly won't want to risk injuries to their star players. Still, the prize money is certainly worth competing for and Madrid are 'under new management' with Xabi Alonso taking over from Carlo Ancelotti. He'll surely want to make a good first impression along with new signing Trent Alexander-Arnold. Second favorites are Manchester City, who will be hoping to atone for their trophy-less season. Advertisement Here's the best price available for each team at time of going to press: Real Madrid (Spain) 4.1-1 Manchester City (England) 5-1 PSG (France) 5-1 Bayern Munich (Germany) 7-1 Chelsea (England) 10-1 Atletico Madrid (Spain 15-1 Inter Milan (Italy) 15-1 Juventus (Italy) 26-1 Borussia Dortmund (Germany) 28-1 Benfica (Portugal) 40-1 Porto (Portugal) 40-1 Flamengo (Brazil) 40-1 Palmeiras (Brazil) 50-1 Botafogo RJ (Brazil) 50-1 Al Hilal Saudi (Saudi Arabia) 66-1 River Plate (Argentina) 70-1 Inter Miami CF (USA) 75-1 Boca Juniors (Argentina) 80-1 Los Angeles FC (USA) 80-1 Salzburg (Austria) 125-1 Seattle Sounders FC (USA) 150-1 Fluminense (Brazil) 150-1 CF Pachuca (Mexico) 175-1 Al-Ain (UAE) 200-1 Ulsan HD (South Korea) 200-1 Al-Ahly (Egypt) 250-1 CF Monterrey (Mexico) 250-1 Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan) 300-1 Wydad AC (Morocco) 500-1 Mamelodi Sundowns FC (South Africa) 750-1 Esperance de Tunis (Tunisia) 1000-1 Auckland City (Australia) 2500-1 The Golden Boot Meanwhile Kylian Mbappé is 5.5-1 to be top scorer followed closely by Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane. We don't have long to wait to find out how right - or wrong - the bookies are. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 10, 2025, where it first appeared.

Inter speak to Parma for Giovanni Leoni

Serie A giants Inter are looking to bolster their squad after the disappointment of last season and are in talks with Parma to sign defender Giovanni Leoni. The 18-year-old made a mark under Cristian Chivu last season and he could now be reunited at the Nerazzurri with the Romanian. Advertisement Gianluca di Marzio has reported that during Inter's talks with Parma to sign Chivu, they spoke to the club about Leoni and also about striker Ange-Yoan Bonny. The young defender is valued at €25 million to €30 million right now and it remains to be seen how Inter afford that figure in the next few weeks. Last season, Leoni made 17 Serie A appearances for Parma and his prominence in the squad grew towards the end of the season, when Chivu helped the club avoid relegation and finish at a solid 16th position and they ended the campaign ffive points away from the drop. 2025 Club World Cup odds: Why backing Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid to pip PSG makes sense

For more stories like this, click here to follow The Athletic's sports betting section and have them added to your feed. The FIFA Club World Cup is here and, if you're like us, well, you don't know what to make of it. But the fact of the matter is, it's a summer football tournament featuring some of the best teams across the globe. Advertisement If you plan on strapping yourself to the sofa from June 14 to July 13, it's probably worth having a gander at the betting markets. Unlike the domestic season, where every team wants to claim silverware, there's probably going to be some questionable levels of motivation to consider when placing wagers. A club like Real Madrid — the outright betting favourites — should have no problem dispatching the Al-Hilals of the world, but will they care enough to do so? Will Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and the rest of the chasing pack worry about protecting players? Or will they brush aside the concerns all in the name of winning another trophy? We'll dive into the top five Club World Cup winner favourites and see if we can suss out which of the teams will back up their odds in a month's time. Brett Koremenos: After a disappointing season by the club's lofty standards, Los Blancos have all the motivation in the world to carve a path to New Jersey and beyond. Xabi Alonso's arrival also adds an element of intrigue. Presumably, there will be a clear directive from the new boss to utilise these games to implement his tactics and kick off his tenure with a signature win. On the pitch, the acquisition of Trent Alexander-Arnold could be a game-changer. Madrid's passing was a key issue last season, and Alexander-Arnold has already proven at Liverpool that he's a ball-progressing, chance-creation machine. He also fills a major hole at right back. Madrid should be a dominant force this season with him in the side. Throw in their incentive to purge a plunderless Champions League campaign from the collective mind and 4/1 odds seem rather tempting. Sam Tighe: Expect PSG's immense swagger and confidence in possession to hit the accelerator now they've been crowned European champions. They're better than everyone else, they know it, and now they have the proof. The earlier question of how bothered this team will be about this tournament, though, is very fair. Of all the UEFA representatives, PSG could justifiably be the least interested. They're probably the only side present who don't need the riches that winning it would bring, and also potentially knackered. They won the treble, then seven of their first-choice players played in the UEFA Nations League finals. Advertisement Is there any chance these guys could get a moment to, you know, celebrate their incredible achievements? They're rightly priced as a strong contender to win because they're the best team in the world. But in terms of motivation, they'll be lightyears behind Real Madrid, which seems to be a key factor for the bookmakers. Koremenos: Unlike Madrid, City's transfer additions lead to more questions than answers. Joško Gvardiol would be an amazing player at any position, but he was a world-destroying force as a left-back. Yet Rayan Aït-Nouri has been brought into the fold. Pep Guardiola also spent half of last season trying to mend a shattered defence — and he succeeded by the end of the season. This makes it all the more puzzling that he signed two midfielders, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, (maybe they got a deal on Rayans?) who contribute nothing to the defence. With Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Jack Grealish all on their way out the door, this team feels like a major work in progress. Not only are 11/2 odds for City intriguingly low, but there's also a real chance with all these moving pieces that we see some shocking results. Guardiola may also view this as an opportunity to tinker with his new toys rather than just trying to churn out results. Tighe: Well, Harry Kane's excited. That much we can confirm. He has a fair point about supposed inaugural tournaments carrying a 'unique' flavour, and as a natural goalscorer, will probably be hell-bent on being crowned the first Club World Cup Golden Boot winner. If he achieves that, Bayern will inevitably have gone far — unless of course he scores nine against Auckland City, then none against anyone else. Die Rekordmeister have paid some nominal fees to bring two summer signings — Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof — into the fold early, so that they can play in the United States. The former should prove to be immediately important, as Bayern's centre-backs corps is very injured and in need of help. Tighe: Chelsea round off the top five favourites, pipping the likes of Atlético Madrid (12/1) and Champions League finalists Inter (14/1), plus every non-UEFA representative. At first glance that seems generous to the Blues, but they did win five of their last six Premier League games to secure a top-five berth. Advertisement They're also adding a lot of fresh energy to the squad: Dário Essugo, Liam Delap and Mamadou Sarr are all new signings who will take part in the tournament. Meanwhile, Andrey Santos and Mike Penders, who spent the 2024-25 season out on loan, will also be added to the pile. That creates a dynamic in which a fair chunk of Chelsea's squad will be raring to go and eager to impress — a ripple effect that could result in the rest raising their game.
