The Georgia Bulldogs have climbed the 2026 recruiting rankings in recent weeks. But even two-time national champion head coach Kirby Smart can't win them all.

While the Bulldogs sit in the final three schools with four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett, On3's Chad Simmons doesn't anticipate Georgia landing the highly coveted wideout.
On Tuesday, Simmons predicted Bennett to commit to the Florida State Seminoles.
"Brandon Bennett is focused on Florida, Florida State and Georgia. He is a big target for the Seminoles and the ACC program in Tallahassee are trending," Simmons wrote. "They made him feel like a priority on the visit and a decision could be nearing. We like Mike Norvell's program."

Bennett narrowed his recruitment down to three schools just before his visit to Georgia during the final weekend of May.

Initially after the visit, the Bulldogs appeared to gain ground on the Seminoles.
'It was just really building a relationship with everybody, the whole staff, and going through and feeling what it's like, the facilities, and looking at how everything is if I were to come here,' Bennett told On3's Jeremy Johnson.
Yet, Simmons is still predicting Bennett to head to Florida State.
The Bulldogs will have to hope that prediction is wrong similar to the way On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine was at the beginning of the month.
The On3 machine projected Bennett to pick the Miami Hurricanes, but Miami didn't finish among the receiver's top three choices.

Based on the 247Sports composite rankings, Bennett is the No. 33 receiver in the 2026 recruiting class. The wideout is also the No. 34 Florida prospect and 218th-ranked overall recruit for 2026.

Lightning stops NRL game between Souths and Bulldogs

Lightning has forced South Sydney and Canterbury from the field at Accor Stadium, in the first time weather has stopped an NRL game in more than a decade. Referee Adam Gee ordered South Sydney and Canterbury off around 4:40pm on Sunday afternoon with the Bulldogs leading 18-0 in the 31st minute. Lightning had struck nearby twice before the stoppage, with the second flash prompting audible gasps from the modest crowd. Soon beforehand, security had ordered patrons in lower seating areas to take cover as rain teemed down. Mother nature puts a pause to the game ⛈️📺 Watch #NRLSouthsDogs on ch. 502 or stream on Kayo: BLOG: MATCH CENTRE: — Fox League (@FOXNRL) June 15, 2025 Sideline commentators and ground staff also fled the field with the players. The stadium DJ played the classic rock hit 'Rain' by Dragon, making light of the situation. Two young fans took advantage of the situation and rushed onto the field, prompting a small army of security guards into action on the sodden turf. Soon before 5pm, the referee determined in consultation with venue management and ground staff that play could resume imminently, with players to be afforded two minutes of warm-up time before the resumption. It was the first time since Anzac Day in 2015 that a match had been paused due to weather, with hail forcing St George Illawarra and Sydney Roosters off that day. Before that, the last time weather interrupted a game was in 2009. The Bulldogs dominated the early exchanges of round 15's final game, with Toby Sexton scoring the first try as he fights for his spot in the team's halves.

Marchand, Bennett too hot for Oilers to handle in Game 5 of Stanley Cup final

EDMONTON - Driving the Florida Panthers attack in the playoffs is a player in his NHL prime and another acting like he is. Sam Bennett, 28, and Brad Marchand, 37, continued to be a lot for the Oilers to handle in the Stanley Cup final in Florida's 5-2 win over Edmonton on Saturday to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Marchand scored twice Saturday — Florida's first and third goals — to reach half a dozen goals in the Cup final. Florida's second goal of the game was Bennett's fifth of the Cup final and his NHL-leading 15th of the post-season. The Panthers can close out the series at home Tuesday and become the first back-to-back Stanley Cup champions since the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021. A new ingredient for the Panthers this post-season, however, is the five-foot-nine, 180-pound Marchand, who Florida acquired at the trade deadline after his almost 16 years with the Boston Bruins. Marchand's six goals was the most by any player in the championship series since Esa Tikkanen in 1988. Marchand, from Halifax, seeks the second Stanley Cup of his career after lifting the trophy with the Boston Bruins in 2011 at the age of 23. He reached another two Cup finals with Boston before he was dealt to Florida this winter. When asked what the 2011 edition of Brad Marchand would say to his 2025 version, he replied 'man, that guy's good looking.' 'Sometimes you get bounces, sometimes you don't but definitely you'd be grateful to be in this opportunity and have another opportunity to be in the finals and be part of a really good team for sure,' Marchand continued. Bennett, from Holland Landing, Ont., pushed his road goal streak to six straight games when he wired a rebound past Edmonton's Calvin Pickard to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead in the first period. A front-runner for this year's Conn Smythe Trophy that goes to the NHL's playoff MVP, Bennett ranks second in post-season in hits (103) to Edmonton's Zach Hyman (111). 'We've talked about it so much,' said Bennett's teammate Sam Reinhart. 'It's just his game translates so well to this time of year. He creates so much room for himself.' Marchand and Bennett each with five, or more, goals apiece in the Cup final are the first teammates to do so since Montreal's Frank Mahovlich and Yvan Cournoyer in 1973. 'They're just certainly capable of processing the context of the game,' Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said. 'They don't get too high, they don't go too low. Their energy level is high, and they're very focused on the game. 'There's a mental toughness there, a mental capacity to stay within the game and not try to break it open. Just wait. Patience.' The ageless Marchand scored both his goals off draws that Edmonton won, but he got to the puck first and beat Oilers to the net to score twice. 'What he can do under duress in a small area is world class,' Maurice said. This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 14, 2025.

Georgia in 'Hot Pursuit' of Highly Coveted Playmaker

Georgia in 'Hot Pursuit' of Highly Coveted Playmaker originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Georgia Bulldogs are rapidly approaching a commitment date with one of their top receiver targets. But the Bulldogs aren't letting any moment before that date to pass without pushing for the recruit. Advertisement On3's Jeremy Johnson reported on Friday that the Bulldogs are in "hot pursuit" for four-star wide receiver Craig Dandridge. 'The communication with Georgia has been very frequent,' Dandridge told Johnson. 'I always hear from one of the coaches. Even being up there at the 7-on-7, they were pulling me aside and talking to me and seeing how my family was doing. "They're always constantly making an effort to reach out.' Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The tactic appears to be working. Johnson reported the Bulldogs "made a major impression" when the receiver was in Athens, Georgia on an official visit. "Georgia is in hot pursuit of 4WR target Craig Dandridge. The 4WR has a commitment date and is feeling the love from Georgia's staff. #GoDawgs," Johnson wrote on X. Johnson also mentioned in his article that Dandridge is expected to make his college decision on June 26. Advertisement The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine also projected Georgia as the favorite to land the four-star receiver. The prediction machine projected the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as the biggest competition for Dandridge. The receiver is also scheduled to make official visits to the Tennessee Volunteers and Stanford Cardinal. Dandridge said the Bulldogs treated his family "extremely well" when they came with him on his visit. He added that is an important factor in his recruitment. 'I saw my family having a great, fun time and that was really important to me," Dandridge said. "It was amazing to have my family there so they could also get the experience, because I'm very fortunate and grateful to be able to take these visits, because not a lot of people have the opportunity.' Advertisement According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Dandridge is the No. 38 receiver and 26th-ranked Georgia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. The wideout is also a top 250 recruit for 2026.
