India Bowling Coach Reacts To Bumrah Not Being Ready: 'Blown Away By The Energy'
Last Updated: Morne Morkel, India's bowling coach, dismissed concerns about Jasprit Bumrah's preparation for the England tour, praising his energy and readiness. India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, dismissed the theory about Jasprit Bumrah being underprepared for the tour of England with only a few Indian Premier League (IPL) matches under his belt. 'He (Bumrah) knows how to get himself ready and prepare. I was blown away by the energy in his bowling over the last three days. So that's very exciting to see a happy 'Boom'," Morne Morkel told reporters during India's training session. 'I'm just happy his body is in good shape at the moment, and we'll manage him well. We'll be smart with him because he's obviously key for us," he added. Morkel is confident that the Indian team has covered all its bases in squad selection. 'I think we've covered all bases. But our key now is to get Test match fit and ready, to regain that sharpness since we haven't played Test matches for a while. 'In England, the conditions can suit you if it's overcast, but the surfaces will still be good. We're going to be testing that." The key is to have players fit and match-ready to ensure they can stay on the field for 90 overs, said Morkel. 'We've only had three sessions so far. We've got a four-day warm-up game against India A starting in two days. I'll be more interested to see how our guys perform in that game," Morkel said. While India has already had three sessions, Morkel said it's not a great indicator of a player's ability to stay on the field. 'It's one thing to judge a net session, but for our guys to stand in the field and get used to doing 90 overs, that's going to take some time. We need to realise that and be patient. 'We need to find a way to get up to speed as quickly as possible because that's going to be a real test." Morkel couldn't be happier watching the players take ownership and responsibility during training sessions. 'That's one of the things that has impressed me so much in these two days. The guys have stepped up by themselves, taking ownership and responsibility, realising that it's going to be a tough tour. 'As coaches, it's pleasing to see players taking leadership and ownership in practice." (With inputs from PTI) First Published: June 11, 2025, 20:41 IST

Australia vs South Africa LIVE-Streaming: When and where to watch WTC Final?
Australia and South Africa are all set to clash for the title of World Test Chamionship at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London from today. The five day match will see the two of the most consistent teams in world cricket giving it their best in order to steal the biggest accolade in Test matches. While Australia are the defending champions having defeated India during the last WTC Final in 2023. South Africa led by Temba Bavuma will be playing their first WTC Final and would be desperate to not have a repeat of the heartbreak they faced after a loss in the T20 World Cup final last year. On paper both teams look solid with South Africa probably having a better pace attack for the seaming conditions in England. However, it would be a mistake to take the quad pairing of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Scott Bolland lightly. The iconic pitch at the Lord's will help the pacers in the beginning, however, it is expected to be on the drier side as the game progresses and therefore will assist the spinners. If the batters manage to put runs on the board in the initial overs without losing wickets, then the pitch will be favourable for them to register a good total. According to AccuWeather, the temperature in London will hover around 20 degrees Celsius at the beginning of the game and will increase to 23 degrees Celsius by the end. The sky is expected to be partly sunny throughout the match duration and there is a negligible chance of rain. The Australia vs South Africa WTC Final will be played from 3:00PM (India Time) and 10:30AM local time with the toss scheduled to be held half an hour earlier at 2:30PM IST. The match will be broadcast live on the Star Sports network in India. Meanwhile, online viewers can also catch the clash by heading over to the JioHotstar app.
