PlayStation Plus free games lineup for May leaves fans baffled following price increase
PlayStation Plus subscribers seem to have finally found their tipping point this week, because news of several important titles leaving the service is getting everyone riled up at Sony in the wake of their recent price hikes.
Over the past couple of weeks, Sony has chosen to make almost everything PlayStation-related way more expensive.
PlayStation 5 consoles are now more expensive in several regions, and the price of a PlayStation Plus subscription just shot up in close to two dozen different countries.
Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada and Turkey are among some of the latest countries to see pretty hefty PlayStation Plus price increases, and fans have clearly had enough.
Oh, but it gets worse. Sony has now announced that several huge games are leaving PlayStation Plus next month, including the likes of Resistance 2, Resistance: Fall of Man, inFAMOUS: Second Son, Grand Theft Auto V, Batman: Arkham Knight, and Payday 2.
Over on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit, everyone in the comments just can't figure out what Sony is playing at.
'Yeah the disrespect to Resistance is wild Right after they're increasing the price hahah Wow Sony,' commented user seymourbuttz214.
'It confuses the s**t outta me why Sony 1st party games leave the service,' stated user SuperfluousAnon.
'I think they want to combine the unique combination of higher prices and less games to attract more people to the service,' replied user MichaelWildeboer.
Honestly, I'm not really sure what the game plan is here either. Titles can't stay on PlayStation Plus forever, but what the hell is the logic behind removing first-party Sony titles like Resistance 2, Resistance: Fall of Man, and inFAMOUS: Second Son?
Price increases are one thing, but making people pay more for something that's actively getting worse is a whole different issue altogether. I hope people start voting with their wallets, because money talks, and it's clearly the only language Sony seems to understand.

3 PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (June 27-29)
The last weekend of the month is always a little awkward as a PlayStation fan. We know what new PlayStation Plus games are coming next week, but we still have this weekend to fill before they arrive. A lot of us will be enjoying a nice, long adventure in Death Stranding 2, but those who aren't into that style of game aren't out of luck. I'm digging into the backlog a bit here, but for good reasons. I hand-picked these games for you all this weekend, each for a different reason, but as a happy coincidence, they all share a bit of a dark theme. That isn't to say they're all horror games (though one of them sure is) because I always make sure to give you a good spread of genre options. I won't waste any more time and hit you with the best PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard This month we got the official news of Resident Evil: Requiem coming early next year from Capcom. This franchise has been on a roll ever since Resident Evil 7: Biohazard gave the franchise a soft reboot with a new protagonist and first-person perspective that returned the series to its horror roots. To this day, this is one of the most terrifying games you can play, especially if you're brave enough to try it in VR. But, it has been almost a decade now since it came out so a lot of people may have missed it or may not remember it all that well. While nothing major, some eagle-eyed fans have already spotted some foreshadowing about Requiem in 7 that may hint at more clues waiting to be found. If not, this is still just a fantastic horror game worth your time. Recommended Videos Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Mobile, and PC. Control: Ultimate Edition Last week, I recommended FBC: Firebreak as one of the games you should play. While I don't regret that, it is clear the game doesn't have the legs right now to sustain itself, nor the level of storytelling Remedy fans typically come to the studio for. If you fall into that category, you can always return to the Oldest House as we first knew it with Control: Ultimate Edition. This game holds up fantastically well from a gameplay perspective, plus it has all the creative and weird documents and videos you can handle that flesh out this bizarre universe. If you only played the game at launch, this version comes with both major DLCs, including the one that ties directly into Alan Wake 2. Considering Control 2 appears to be the next chapter in this shared Remedy universe, it never hurts to refresh yourself on Jesse's first day as FBC director. Control: Ultimate Edition is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC. Twisted Metal 2 I'm jumping on this one early, but for two reasons. First, the second season of the show is set to premiere at the end of next month and that's always a fun excuse to return to the source material. Second is that we already know Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal 4 will be added to PlayStation Plus in July so this is the perfect chance to play the earlier titles before they hit. Twisted Metal 2 is still considered one of the best entries in the series and a major step up from the first. It is pure chaotic fun as a car combat game, which is sadly a genre that has all but disappeared in modern times. The various stories are dark and twisted in a way that could only be made in the mid-'90s and is all the better for it. Twisted Metal 2 is available now on PS4 and PS5.

Who is this 'final' six-minute Death Stranding 2 trailer actually for?
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is out today, not counting the early access period. Kojima Productions and publisher Sony couldn't resist putting out one last trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if the filename for it was something like DS2_FINAL_TRAILER_V17_noactuallyitsthelastone.mp4 and yet it still has a runtime of six minutes. Although there are some fun moments in this trailer, it's much too long. You probably shouldn't watch it if you'd like to stay as spoiler-free as possible before playing the game, as the trailer includes some heavy-handed teases and perhaps gives away some of DS2's surprises. The game's director, Hideo Kojima, is a man with more ideas than he has time to execute. That's evident in his games, which are packed full of complexity and cinematics. I found a YouTube video titled "Death Stranding 2 All Cutscenes Part 1" that's nearly two hours long. In other words, these games are a lot (though it is cute that there's a special cutscene when it's your birthday). Fittingly, the trailers are excessive as well. By my count, we've now had over 30 minutes of DS2 trailers, including a 10-minute one. That's not counting the 22-minute gameplay demo at Summer Game Fest. There will be more trailers when Death Stranding 2 inevitably migrates from the PS5 to other platforms, so I don't believe for a second that this is the "final" one. Perhaps there will be a Director's Cut edition with its own trailers. Yes, studios, publishers and their marketing teams have a tough time on their hands trying to break through the noise and get their games on the radars of players who might want to check them out. But this is a Hideo Kojima game that Sony is publishing. A sequel to an acclaimed game that more than 20 million people have played. The vast majority of people who would be interested in Death Stranding 2 are likely already well aware of it. This probably didn't need a final trailer, and certainly not one that's six minutes long. (I am well aware of the irony that, by embedding it here, we're bringing more eyeballs to this trailer. Don't @ me.) Kojima famously edits the trailers for his games himself, and he did so with this one. But they could probably do with another pass in someone else's hands.

Capcom to Reveal More Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata in Showcase Next Week
Capcom has announced a Spotlight digital event set for next week, when it will show more of Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Street Fighter 6. The Capcom Spotlight livestream is set for 3pm PT / 11pm UK time on Thursday, June 26, and will last 40 minutes. Capcom said to expect the 'latest news' on the company's upcoming games, as well as interviews with the developers. Specifically, Monster Hunter Wilds fans will get details on Title Update 2, which is set to release at the end of the month. Capcom announced Resident Evil Requiem during Summer Game Fest earlier this month with an eye-catching trailer. IGN went hands-on with Resident Evil Requiem, which lets you play in either first- or third-person. There's a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, although fans think we'll also get to play as Leon Kennedy. Pragmata, meanwhile, reemerged at Sony's State of Play showcase with a new release date, a trailer, and information on what the game actually Fighter 6 also turned up at SGF to reveal its Year 3 roster of playable DLC characters: Sagat is out this summer, C. Viper this fall, Alex early spring 2026, and finally, Ingrid late spring 2026.
