Look: Texas' Steve Sarkisian takes stage at SEC media days to 'Aggie War Hymn'
Sarkisian was introduced to the podium to the wrong fight song. And it wasn't just any other fight song, either: It was that of the Longhorns' fierce in-state rival, Texas A&M.
The fifth-year coach seemed either to not realize that the "Aggie War Hymn" was being played, or at didn't acknowledge it, since it didn't spur much reaction as he arrived to give his opening address. The song was, at least, corrected to "Texas Fight" as Sarkisian left the stage after his media availability.

Texas and Texas A&M's rivalry was renewed in 2024 after the Longhorns' arrival to the SEC. Texas defeated the Aggies 17-7 on the road in the two programs' first matchup since 2011, when both teams were members of the Big 12.
The Longhorns and Aggies face again this season on Friday, Nov. 28, in the regular season finale.
The hymn didn't include the lyrics, of course, though diving into the song reveals Texas A&M's hatred for Texas. The second verse of the song includes lines, "Good-bye to Texas University, so long to the orange and the white" and "So good-bye to Texas University, we're going to beat you all to Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem, Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem."
While the move was likely nothing more than a mistake at SEC media days, it still made for quite the comedic entrance for Sarkisian to kick off the 2025 college football season in the conference.
Maybe Texas A&M coach Mike Elko will make it even and enter to "Texas Fight" when he takes the stage on Thursday, July 17, in Atlanta.

Patriots cut former Texas A&M star running back in roster move
Football season is right around the corner, and NFL teams are already reshuffling their rosters. Unfortunately for one former Texas A&M running back, he's back on the market just months after signing a new deal. On Friday evening, the New England Patriots released veteran backup Trayveon Williams, who had signed with the team in May. This kind of roster churn is common in the NFL, but the timing offers Williams a shot at landing elsewhere before training camps are in full swing. Williams was drafted in the sixth round by the Cincinnati Bengals following a standout junior season at A&M, where he earned First-Team All-SEC and Second-Team All-American honors. He spent six seasons with the Bengals, primarily contributing on special teams. When his playing time began to decrease, he made the move to New England this summer. Running back roles have evolved over the past few decades, with most teams now carrying three backs, two of whom must also contribute on special teams. CBS Sports predicts Auburn football's first loss of the 2025 season
The SEC is considered one of the toughest conferences in college football, and it is expected that every program within the league will stumble at least once this season. The good news is that the new College Football Playoff format is more forgiving to regular season losses, which could help Auburn in its quest for its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. Brad Crawford of CBS Sports recently evaluated each SEC schedule, and which week would result in each team's first loss. For Auburn, he expects the Tigers to fall early in the SEC slate. Crawford expects Auburn to be ranked an unbeaten heading into Oklahoma on Sept. 20, but does not forecast the Tigers to exit the same way. Auburn will be nationally ranked going to Norman in Week 4 on the heels of a 3-0 start highlighted by a season-opening victory at Baylor that will recharge the fanbase a bit. Then, we're going to watch two high-powered offenses go at it with former Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold making his much-anticipated return to Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Unfortunately, for the third straight season under Hugh Freeze, the Tigers will drop their SEC opener. The Tigers have had rough outings in SEC openers under Hugh Freeze, losing each by 10 or more points. Auburn fell on the road at Texas A&M in 2023, 27-10, and followed suit in 2024 by dropping its conference opener to Arkansas, 24-14. This season, Auburn will look to end the trend and gain momentum heading into another road game at Texas A&M to close the September slate. If Crawford's projection of Auburn stumbling at Oklahoma is true, then the Tigers will have a shot to bounce back three weeks later at home against rival Georgia. Crawford forecasts the Tigers to stun Georgia on Oct. 11 at Jordan-Hare Stadium, which would "rattle" the SEC at its midway point. Auburn's bye week ahead of playing Georgia could benefit them in addition to the game being played in the primetime slot. Anticipation of Auburn's 2025 season will fade on Friday, Aug. 29, when the Tigers kick off the season at Baylor.
