I want Hearts to make tough choices on me in Livingston loan spell, says ace
Macaulay Tait knows it's up to him to impress on a season-long loan and says that can benefit the Lions On-loan Hearts kid Macaulay Tait wants to make it as difficult as possible for the Edinburgh giants to leave him at Livingston for the season – and says everybody benefits from that. The 19-year-old is on a second loan spell from Tynecastle, and jumped at the chance to rejoin David Martindale's side in the Premiership, having helped get them there in the first place. On Sunday, Tait hopes to tackle Edinburgh rivals Hibs in the Premier Sports Cup for the first time in his career, and says games like that are part of the draw the Almondvale club holds for him, with a trip to Celtic Park looming next week. Tait reckons it's a good fit for him at Livingston, and that means all three parties will benefit. 'I'm loving it,' said Tait. 'Just playing football is exactly what I needed, so to do it, and to do it in the top flight, has been amazing. I'm just thankful for the opportunities. 'I was a Jambo growing up, and the loan means I won't be able to play against Hearts this season. 'I think they have an option to bring me back in January, so it's up to me to make it as difficult a decision for Hearts as possible. 'Come here and do as well as I can, and that benefits all three parties, so that's all I'm focusing on, just now. 'Hopefully you keep making Hearts make decisions for you, so we'll wait and see what they say.' Tait admits the chance to lock horns with teams like Hibs and Celtic was a major draw for him at Livingston, and is absorbing as much as he can from experienced players around him. He added: 'It's obviously different [coming up against Hibs] but I think that's why coming back to Livi made a lot of sense, because I'd be getting to play against the same teams as I would for Hearts. 'I've never played against Hibs, so it will be nice to do that. 'It's Celtic the week after, and it's a brilliant opportunity to go and play in the biggest stadiums in the country, against the biggest teams, so I'm really looking forward to that. 'We have a good team, so we can hopefully put up a good fight. 'It's a brilliant changing room, they players have been brilliant with me, and I love working with every single one of them. They've taken me under their wing and helped me a lot. 'They're an experienced group, they've all played at the highest level, so you listen to them, and take all the advice they give you on board.' Tait played 15 times for Livi last season, helping them to win the SPFL Trust Trophy and gain promotion back to the Premiership via a play-off win over Ross County. He has already got off the mark this season, scoring in a 2-1 Premier Sports Cup group stages win over East Fife, and says the decision to head back to West Lothian was instant. 'It was a pretty easy decision, to be fair,' said Tait. 'I look at the midfield at Hearts and it's pretty stacked just now, and there was a good chance it was going to get increased. 'There was no point in wasting what I did last year at Livi, so when the chance came to come back, it made perfect sense to go into a side in the top flight.'

Docherty confident Crichton can lead Rangers' SWPL title charge
Jo Potter's switch to Crystal Palace opened the door to Crichton's move to Rangers from Glasgow City little over a fortnight ago. And while she has had little time to get her feet under the desk, Docherty expects that her former team-mate at Glasgow City and Scotland has the ability to make Rangers ruthless. The Ibrox side have lost out on the title on the final day of the campaign for the last three successive seasons, something that has rankled with Docherty. 'I have know Leanne for a long time,' she said. 'We played together and I know that she is a winner. She is coming here to win things and make sure that we are going into games with the right approach. 'That isn't just one off games or the big games but making sure we are turning up week in, week out. There is pressure when you play at a club like Rangers but that pressure is because we want to be winners. Read more: 'That is the message that Leanne will get through. I think we have all had time to process it now but not winning the league but it was tough. We have to use it as fuel this season. 'We have come very close but obviously we want to go and cross that line and I think it means being consistent across the board. 'We were switched on last season in terms of goals and the possibility of the title going to goal difference but we fell short in certain moments. 'That's what has to change.' Meanwhile, Hibs striker Eilidh Adams has accepted that Grant Scott's side will find this season a different challenge again as they look to defend a title that few expected them to claim. They host Aberdeen at Meadowbank this afternoon with the striker determined that the Hibees can buck expectations again. 'It was incredible for us and if we were all being honest I think we would say that even we didn't think we would go all the way and win the league,' said the striker. 'But having achieved it was just an amazing moment for us. It took a long time for it to actually sink in that we had done it but having had a taste of it we want more success now. 'We know that teams will write us off again this season but we feel that we have been over the course now and we are determined to go and challenge again. 'It is difficult – you can see that across recent years as teams have struggled to defend the title – but we are excited rather than intimidated by that. We are champions and with that comes a bit of pressure.' Celtic had a season to forget last term as they finished fourth. There has been chaos behind the scenes this summer with ten departures and only two arrivals to date. They are away to Hearts today with Chloe Craig, who missed the season with an ACL, accepting that last term wasn't good enough. 'On a personal level it was obviously tough but in terms of the team, just having to watch and not be able to influence was really challenging. 'We know what it is like to win silverware and titles so we are determined to be back in amongst it this season.' Emma Brownlie has swapped Hearts for Glasgow City and is excited to make her mark at Petershill. City have endured back-to-back seasons with no silverware, something they are out to arrest this term. '100% we believe we are going out to try and be as successful as we possibly can be,' said she said. 'I am excited to get started here at City and I feel that everyone is ready to go and challenge for the title.'

Jayden Meghoma a Rangers target as Russell Martin eyes transfer reinforcements
The 19-year-old England youth international worked under Martin at Southampton before he joined the Bees in 2024, with a subsequent loan spell at Preston. Brazilian left-back Jefte, who joined Rangers from Fluminense last summer, is reportedly set to join Palmeiras for £6million. The Gers boss was speaking after the 4-2 win over Alloa booked a place in the quarter-final of the Premier Sports Cup where they will host the winners of Sunday's Livingston versus Hibernian tie, albeit first they have the opening leg of the Champions League play-off against Club Brugge at Ibrox on Tuesday. Martin said: 'Jefte was in yesterday, and then by yesterday evening, he's maybe not going to be here moving forward because it's a good deal for him and the club. 'So we'll see what happens over the next couple of days with that. 'And so we have to be ready to replace him, and we always have been ready. 'So Jayden is a player we know from Southampton, spent a year with us as a young boy, training every day, understands the work, top talent, plays for England at all the youth levels. 'Brentford signed him for a lot of money for a teenager, and he went on loan last year in the Championship and did really well. 'So he's a player we know and like, and hopefully at some point he'll be a Rangers player and you'll know that when he is.' Martin made 10 changes from the side which started in the second leg of the Champions League qualifier against Viktoria Plzen in midweek and the match ended with Emmanuel Fernandez, Mikey Moore and Thelo Aasgaard all having made their debuts, while fit-again Hamza Igamane got more minutes. Nedim Bajrami, Fernandez, James Tavernier (penalty) and Findlay Curtis scored for the home side with Joe Rothwell's own goal and a Scott Taggart tap-in counting for the League One outfit. Martin said: 'I saw some really good bits and some stuff that I didn't like, but I don't think I expected anything different with guys that just haven't played very much. 'When you make 10 changes to the team it's going to disrupt something. So my feeling is we get through, we score four goals, we should score more goals for sure. 'In the first half, after the first 15 minutes, when you can't quite sustain the same level of intensity, they caused some problems which shouldn't happen. 'And I mean that really respectfully, because the way they approached the game, they were great. But there was a lack of a bit of energy, because we had so much of the ball. 'A lack of energy without it could have been really costly. So we have a couple of moments we shouldn't have, but I'm pleased with a lot.' Alloa player-manager Andy Graham was pleased with his side's performance. He said: 'My overriding emotion is pride. We dug in at times but we also played and passed the ball under pressure. They should real composure. 'I'm really pleased from that perspective. You're always going to think 'what if' when you get it to 3-2 with a couple of minutes to go. 'But I'm not sitting here saying we deserved to win the game.'
