Sussex police officers not guilty of assaulting 92-year-old amputee
Two police officers have been found not guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after a 92-year-old amputee was pepper-sprayed and Tasered at his care home.PCs Stephen Smith, 51, and Rachel Comotto, 36, denied using excessive force on Donald Burgess at Park Beck care home in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex.The care home called 999 in June 2022 after Mr Burgess, a single-leg amputee and wheelchair user, reportedly grabbed a knife and threatened to stab staff.Mr Burgess was taken to hospital where he contracted Covid and died 22 days later, but the officers were not being held responsible for his death.

March man, 18, killed in crash was "our joy, our pride"

Telford modular room manufacturer collapses with job losses
A company that made "room modules and bathroom pods" has gone into administration, putting 141 people out of work.A further 76 employees of Elements (Europe) Limited in Telford have been retained to support the company incurred losses after taking on contracts in East London and Birmingham, the administrators said, and had been unable to find new Birchall, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, said: "Sadly Elements Europe has not been immune to the headwinds facing the construction sector." Mr Birchall said work would be paused on the two projects while attempts were made to rescue the business and administrators would support the staff who were losing their jobs.
