Roya News12-07-2025
Iranian authorities publicly executed a man Saturday after he was convicted of raping and murdering a young girl, the judiciary announced.
According to Mizan Online, the judiciary's news website, the victim's family from Bukan, a city in northwestern Iran, participated in the trial and called for a public execution.
Nasser Atabati, the provincial chief justice, stated that "the case received special attention due to the emotional impact it had on public opinion."
The death sentence was issued in March and later upheld by the country's Supreme Court.
Atabati explained that the execution was carried out publicly "at the request of the victim's family and citizens, given the emotional impact the case had on society."
Murder and rape are capital offenses in Iran. The country ranks second globally in the number of executions, trailing only China, according to human rights organizations including Amnesty International.

Iran reportedly detains two Jewish American citizens on espionage charges

Two American citizens are among at least 35 Jews reportedly detained in Iran on suspicion of spying for 'Israel' following the 12-day war last month, according to a report by the 'Israeli' Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan). One of the American nationals has been released on bail in recent days, while the other remains imprisoned. Kan identified the released American as a Jewish person of Iranian ancestry from Los Angeles. The other American reportedly left Iran for New York three decades ago. An unidentified source involved in efforts to secure their release commented that "the two Americans arrived in the wrong place at the wrong time." In a related development, Iranian authorities recently released 11 members of the Jewish community who were also accused of spying for 'Israel'.

Iran blames 'Israel' for deadly courthouse attack

At least six people were killed and 22 others injured in an attack on a courthouse in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan on Saturday, according to Iranian media. The attack reportedly began with gunmen targeting the Ministry of Justice's courthouse building before opening fire indiscriminately at civilians nearby, Iran's IRNA news agency reported. The public relations office of the Quds Headquarters, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Ground Forces, said the attackers initially focused on the courthouse before expanding the assault to surrounding areas. General Ali Reza Daliri, deputy police chief of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, said three attackers wearing suicide vests were killed at the scene. He added that one of the assailants hurled a hand grenade inside the courthouse, causing a deadly explosion. Daliri said the incident occurred around 8:30 AM when, according to Iranian officials, a 'terrorist group linked to Israel' tried to infiltrate the courthouse disguised as workers. A shootout erupted between the attackers and security forces, during which one of the gunmen was killed immediately. The grenade explosion reportedly killed several civilians, including a mother and her one-year-old child. Daliri stated that the remaining attackers tried to flee to a nearby street but were located and killed by police forces during a firefight. He confirmed that all the assailants were neutralized and that investigations are ongoing. Iranian media attributed the attack to the armed group "Jaish al-Adl," which Tehran classifies as a terrorist organization. The group claims to defend the rights of the Baluch minority in the region.

London and Ottawa Reject Macron's Palestinian Statehood Initiative over U.S. Concerns - Jordan News

French President Emmanuel Macron has spearheaded a broad diplomatic initiative aimed at recognizing the State of Palestine, working closely with Saudi Arabia and attempting to bring the United Kingdom and Canada on board. اضافة اعلان However, according to a Reuters report citing three informed diplomats, both London and Ottawa declined to join the effort, citing fears of political friction with Washington. In response to the lack of consensus, Macron has decided to proceed unilaterally, with France set to formally recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session in September. A French diplomat confirmed to Reuters that Paris is continuing to mobilize broader international support ahead of the UN meeting, aiming to build momentum for a collective recognition, despite international complexities and pressure from major global powers. Macron officially announced on July 24 that France will recognize Palestine as a sovereign state at the upcoming UN assembly. In reaction, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply condemned the French move. A statement from his office said: "Such a step rewards terrorism and risks creating another Iranian proxy, just as Gaza has become." The statement warned that under current conditions, a Palestinian state would be "a launching pad for the destruction of Israel."
