Bublik beats Medvedev to win Halle Open again
Associated Press
HALLE (WESTFALEN), Germany (AP) — Alexander Bublik defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6 (4) on Sunday to win the Halle Open for the second time.
The Kazakhstani player, who also won the grass-court tournament in 2023, is just the third player to claim the title more than once after three-time winner Yevgeny Kafelnikov and 10-time champion Roger Federer.
It was his first win in seven matches with Medvedev. Bublik defeated top-ranked Jannik Sinner in the second round.
Medvedev, who saw off home favorite Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, was playing his first final since losing to Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells in March 2024.

Rejuvenated Bublik beats Medvedev for Halle triumph
Kazakhstan's erratic but brilliant Alexander Bublik has beaten Daniil Medvedev for the first time in his career to claim the Halle title, winning 6-3 7-6 (7-4) to continue his remarkable resurgence. Bublik had lost his previous six meetings against Russian Medvedev, winning only one set in the process, but produced a superb exhibition of grass-court tennis to end that streak on Sunday. Former world No.1 Medvedev has now lost his last six Tour-level finals. What a beautiful reaction ❤️This is your moment Bublik, take it all in… #ATPHalle — ATP Tour (@atptour) June 22, 2025 So often the showman, Bublik, fresh from his run to the quarter-finals in the French Open, showed his new maturity with a calm display in the final as he continued the form that saw him beat world No.1 Jannik Sinner in the last-16 this week. The 27-year-old broke the Medvedev serve in the eighth game of the first set and then held his own with ease to move ahead during an incredible 12-point winning streak. Medvedev had a set point when Bublik served at 4-5 in the second set but could do nothing as his wily opponent feathered a delicate drop shot from behind the baseline. Third seed Medvedev then led 4-1 in the tiebreaker but the unseeded Bublik stormed back to complete a memorable week and repeat his 2023 title run on the German grass. "I had such tough months since last Wimbledon to probably this summer," said Bublik, who was outside the top 75 as recently as last month but will rise to 30 on Monday. "I was close to calling it quits after Wimbledon because I was not enjoying it any more. Now this is happening. I don't know. Quarters at the French? Winner here? I have no words. "I have never beaten Daniil. He's a super tough player to play, especially with my style, and today everything clicked in mentally and physically. That's one of the wins of my career."

Kevin Durant is going from the Suns to the Rockets in a blockbuster trade, AP source says
Associated Press The Houston Rockets are acquiring 15-time All-Star and four-time Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal struck Sunday, a person with knowledge of the agreement told The Associated Press. The Rockets are giving up Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green and six future picks — including the No. 10 selection in Wednesday's opening round of this year's draft — according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal was still pending NBA approval. It ends weeks of speculation about where Durant would end up. Many teams were involved at various times, including Miami and Minnesota, but in the end Phoenix took the Rockets' offer. ESPN first reported the trade. Houston finished No. 2 in the Western Conference in the regular season, albeit 16 games behind No. 1 Oklahoma City. It now adds a two-time champion to its young core as it looks to make another jump next season. Durant averaged 26.6 points this season, his 17th in the NBA — not counting one year missed because of injury. For his career, the 6-foot-11 forward is averaging 27.2 points and seven rebounds per game. The move brings Durant back to the state of Texas, where he played his one year of college basketball for the Longhorns. ___ AP NBA: recommended
