Marti Cifuentes is the new Leicester boss - is he the man for the moment or the man for the future?
After much fanfare, a miserable return to the Premier League ended with relegation and with very little to celebrate.
The Foxes have had five managers since 2023. Two relegations and one promotion and that tells you all you need to know about a club who will not want to yo-yo between the top two divisions in the country.
So where are Leicester City now?
Well as decent a man as Ruud Van Nistelrooy is and as eloquent as he was with the media, him being in charge did not work.
When Ruud first came to Leicester, many were immediately sceptical, thinking that Steve Cooper should have been given more time.
After all, he did get better results. But Cooper's tenure was perhaps more complicated than results show, and it's been reported that all was not well behind the scenes when he was at the King Power Stadium.
The threat of a points deduction remains for Leicester and they now find themselves in the Championship, but without key players Jamie Vardy and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who were instrumental in getting them promoted last time around.
That promotion of course was masterminded by Enzo Maresca who left for Chelsea shortly after.
With all of this in mind, Leicester have turned to former Queens Park Rangers boss Marti Cifuentes. The Spaniard left Loftus Road in June and he and Leicester will pay back some of the compensation he got when he left.
The appointment may not have excited fans, but Leicester City believe that for the squad they have right now and for the situation they are in, Cifuentes is the ideal man for the job.
Foxes fans at their most cynical will point towards Cifuentes being relatively cheap and willing to take on a huge project, but if we dig a little deeper, we can see the club's thinking behind the move.
Cifuentes came into QPR with the club second bottom of the Championship but managed to steer them clear of relegation amidst difficult times at Loftus Road.
Last season was even more difficult though and although he kept them up again, a decision was made to part ways.
I understand Leicester liked both what they saw and his vision for the Foxes. For example, his style of play which is possession and positional based play is reminiscent of Maresca.
He likes to attack with depth, width and pace.
He filmed a tactical masterclass on YouTube about how to attack a mid block (a condensed group of defensive tactics and players in the middle of the pitch) that give us hints of his vision for the 'new' Leicester City.
He also impressed with his man management skills and personable approach - at a time when the dressing room seemed at odds and fractured, this will surely be welcomed.
The fact he's willing and able to work with a squad who are a range of ages and talents is also a big plus.
Leicester City very much see Cifuentes as someone who can inspire and unify, bringing people together in what has been and could still be a really difficult period for the club.
It's also understood that his coaching style is very hands-on when it comes to the training pitch, another key point for players, who in the last few years have had to pick up varying styles from different managers quickly with little success.
That all being said, this season won't be easy. If you add in a points deduction, Leicester won't be automatically be the favourites to go straight back up. And yet there will still be that expectation from fans and within the club.
As a past Premier League Champion with lofty ambitions, Leicester City simply cannot afford to linger in the Championship.
There is talent in the squad, of that there is no doubt, and players like Jeremy Monga give hope for the future.
The question is whether Cifuentes has what it takes to get everyone on board and believing in his vision.
Leicester City have given him a two year deal, which could lead to three depending on performance, so they certainly think so.
The man for the moment or the man for the future? We will find out.

Hugo Ekitike set to 'follow Arne Slot's orders' at Liverpool over non-negotiable
Liverpool have agreed a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike, and the Frenchman seems set to fulfil the demands that manager Arne Slot places on his centre forwards Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, who knows what's expected of him at Anfield. The Reds have targeted a new front man in their bid to retain the Premier League title. Arne Slot's side have already made several eye-catching moves in the transfer window. Florian Wirtz joined from Bayer Leverkusen as the club's record signing in a move worth up to £116million earlier this summer. Liverpool have also snapped up right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen, brought in Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez and welcomed goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. However, the arrival of Ekitike, who is set to undergo a medical on Tuesday, would solve a key issue that the Liverpool manager has seemingly been keen to address. The Athletic reports that playing as a centre forward for Slot means having to work hard off the ball, with Ekitike demonstrating his willingness to follow similar instructions out of possession in his time at Frankfurt. That non-negotiable, in terms of being a proper team player from up top, is something Slot has looked for in the market. And it is reported that Ekitike will follow those orders while helping team-mates offer a regular threat in the box via his intelligent movement. The 23-year-old scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances for Frankfurt as the German side finished third in the Bundesliga and reached the Europa League quarter-finals. Liverpool have agreed an initial £69m fee plus a possible £10m in add-ons for the Frenchman. The transfer represents a significant profit for Frankfurt, who opted to make Ekitike's loan from PSG permanent for approximately £14.3m (€16.5m) in April 2024. As the Premier League champions have been targeting a young striker who will be a long-term focal point for the team, Ekitike fits the club's criteria ahead of signing a six-year deal. Liverpool boss Slot opted against relying on Darwin Nunez for much of the team's title-winning campaign, with the Uruguayan only being handed eight league starts. Nunez had been heavily linked with a move to Napoli but the Italian club have signed Udinese forward Lorenzo Lucca, leaving the Liverpool star's next steps in doubt. Slot reaffirmed the importance of a striker's work-rate in his criticism of Nunez's reaction to a missed chance against Aston Villa in February. 'I can accept every miss, especially from a player that has scored two very important goals against Brentford, that scores for us in the home game against Villa,' Slot said. 'That I can accept but what was a bit harder for me to accept was his behaviour after that chance. 'With behaviour, I mean, I think it got too much in his head, where he wasn't the usual Darwin that works his a** off and makes sure he helps the team. I think he was too disappointed after missing that chance and maybe – we will never know, we will never find out – that's why he was just a fraction short the moment afterwards.' Liverpool's determination to find the right striker to improve the team was shown by their interest in Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. The Reds were reportedly willing to pay up to £120m for Isak, but Newcastle insist the forward is not for sale. Meanwhile, Liverpool have stood firm in terms of their own outgoings. Last week, the club rejected a £58m (€67.5m) bid for Luis Diaz from Bayern Munich. It is claimed that the winger wants to leave Liverpool but the club have no intention of cashing in on the Colombia international. He is currently part of Liverpool's squad for their pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan.

Mbeumo is here - but how do the pieces fit together?
It has been Manchester United's target for some time to ensure Bryan Mbeumo was signed before they set off for Chicago and the start of their three-match Premier League Summer Series made it. But it was leave on Tuesday afternoon so they had less than 24 hours to spare before they were able to make an official now the £65m deal is done, we will start to get an indication of how head coach Ruben Amorim intends to piece his team theory, Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo will fill the two number 10 slots behind a main who occupies the two midfield slots behind?Presumably Bruno Fernandes will be in one. The United skipper played there for 45 minutes in Saturday's goalless draw with Leeds neither Kobbie Mainoo nor Casemiro would appear to have the legs to operate alongside Fernandes and, even at £50m, there are doubts over Manuel Ugarte's then there are the other players who could play in the number 10 slots. They include Fernandes and Mainoo but also Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount. What role is available for them? And Amorim might not be finished in the transfer market just yet either, especially if he can unload unwanted quartet Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia in the same way as is happening with Marcus has got what he wants in Cunha and Mbeumo. But that does not mean his problems have gone up for news alerts on your Premier League club

Hugo Ekitike set to put finishing touches to his big-money Liverpool switch
Arne Slot's Premier League champions reached a deal with the German club on Monday to sign the 23-year-old for a guaranteed £69million plus a potential £10million in add-ons. Frankfurt granted Ekitike permission to travel to England to complete the deal and the frontman is understood to have headed to the capital rather than Merseyside to complete the deal. The striker is due to undergo his medical and sign a six-year deal before heading to Asia to join his new Liverpool team-mates on their pre-season tour. A post shared by Liverpool Football Club (@liverpoolfc) PA understands Newcastle and Manchester United had been interested in Ekitike, who is set continue Liverpool's summer spending spree. Florian Wirtz arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in an initial £100m deal that could rise to £116m, while Jeremie Frimpong also joined from them in a £29.5m switch and Milos Kerkez left Bournemouth for £40m. Giorgi Mamardashvili has also linked up with Liverpool after agreeing a deal with Valencia last August, along with fellow goalkeepers Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.
