Guwahati: On the 26th anniversary of India's landmark victory in the Kargil War, the Indian Army organised a series of commemorative events across Upper Assam, paying fitting homage to the unparalleled bravery and sacrifice of the Kargil heroes.
The day commenced with a rousing bike rally, flagged off from Kakopathar and culminating at Doomdooma Town Field. The event witnessed vibrant participation from 155 local youths—each ride serving as a symbolic salute to the bravehearts of 1999 who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, an Army spokesman said.
To deepen understanding of the valour displayed by the region's own sons during the Kargil conflict, interactive sessions unfolded at Daisjan, Pengri, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Lekhapani. These gatherings highlighted the contributions of Kargil War heroes from the northeast, aiming to inspire the younger generation to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, duty, and service.
A special motivational film on
Kargil Vijay Diwas
was also screened, instilling pride and awareness among the audience. The programmes drew attendance from 17 teachers and 265 students. tnn
