Witnesses help Arlington Police detain DWI suspects
The Brief
The Arlington Police Department is investigating a suspected DWI crash that killed a 22-year-old man Saturday.
All three men arrested are on immigration holds in the Arlington City Jail.
Witnesses helped police identify the suspects who ran from the scene.
ARLINGTON - Witnesses helped Arlington Police officers find and detain three fleeing suspects in a fatal DWI crash on I-20 on Saturday.
The backstory
Arlington Police were called to I-20 near Bowen Road to investigate a crash involving a pickup truck and a car.
When they arrived at the scene, a Mitsubishi was engulfed in flames. The Arlington firefighters extinguished the fire and found the remains of a 22-year-old man inside.
Witnesses told police a 2004 Ford F-150 was seen drifting in and out of lanes before slamming into the back of the Mitsubishi that was stopped on the inside shoulder. The impact of the crash caused the Mitsubishi to hit a concrete wall, which ignited the fire.
Arlington Police identified the driver of the pickup as 25-year-old Cesar Ramirez Castro. They believed he could be intoxicated and had him perform a series of roadside sobriety tests. Based on the results, police arrested Ramirez Castro and booked him into the Arlington City Jail on one count of intoxication manslaughter and one count of collision involving death. Police did get a search warrant for a blood test as he is on an immigration hold at the jail.
The two passengers in the pickup, 30-year-old Marcelino Ramirez-Ramirez and 24-year-old Daniel Castro Zammarron, were both arrested and booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Public Intoxication.
What they're saying
Police say witnesses were the key to the quick capture of those who fled.
Witnesses first informed police that there were three individuals who ran from the scene upon crashing the truck.
"Some of them even took photographs of the suspects leaving, which really helps us identify those suspects, and we were able to capture them very, very quickly," said Sergeant Alex Rosado of the Arlington Police Department.
"It's a shame, you know, you have a accident, the car caught on fire, and instead of helping that person out of that car, they just fled," Rosado added.
What we don't know
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the deceased.

Milwaukee man suspected in Sheboygan Falls double shooting arrested after police chase
SHEBOYGAN FALLS – A 24-year-old Milwaukee man suspected to be involved in a double shooting and a police chase June 11 is being held at the Sheboygan County Detention Center. Sheboygan Falls Police Department reported the suspect went to a home in the 400 block of Giddings Avenue in Sheboygan Falls armed with a handgun and confronted a 39-year-old man whom he knew. The suspect fired several rounds, striking the 39-year-old man and a 67-year-old man. The 39-year-old fired shots at the 24-year-old, but he was not injured. Sheboygan Falls police and fire personnel responded to the incident around 4:15 p.m. June 11. Both victims were transported by medical helicopter with life-threatening injuries but are expected to survive. He was believed to be driving a stolen 2021 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee toward Milwaukee, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Around 4:23 p.m. June 11, the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office notified the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office the suspect was driving south. The Ozaukee office and Saukville police attempted to pull the suspect over on Interstate 43 near State 33 in Saukville around 4:49 p.m. Instead, the suspect accelerated, and the sheriff's office pursued the vehicle south into Milwaukee County. Wisconsin State Patrol successfully deployed tire deflation devices near Good Hope Road, causing the suspect's vehicle to lose control and strike a Ford F-150. The vehicle came to a stop south of Silver Spring Road. According to the release, the suspect tried to flee on foot while the vehicle was still moving. He was apprehended and taken into custody by Sheboygan Falls police. Midland man arrested for allegedly using truck to hit wife during domestic dispute
MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A Midland man is facing a felony charge after police say he intentionally struck his wife with a vehicle during an argument Saturday morning. 61-year-old Ralph Allan Olson was arrested on June 7 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $75,000. As of Monday, Olson remained in custody at the Midland County Detention Center. No attorney was listed for him in court records. According to an arrest affidavit, Midland Police responded to a call just after 9 a.m., near Holloway Drive, for a reported accident involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and found the victim, identified as Olson's wife, with visible scrapes and bruises on both knees and her left arm. Olson allegedly told officers that he and his wife had been in a verbal argument earlier that morning. He said he left the home but returned a short time later and saw her walking near the curb. Olson admitted he 'sped by out of spite' following the argument and struck her with his brown Ford F-150 on the passenger side of the vehicle. The victim confirmed the couple had been arguing and said she was walking along the curb when she noticed Olson's truck approaching. She told officers she was struck by the passenger-side hood and mirror, which knocked her to the ground. Despite her injuries, she initially told police she did not want to pursue charges. However, officers reviewed security footage from a nearby residence, which reportedly showed Olson driving at a high rate of speed through the residential neighborhood and making no attempt to avoid hitting the woman until after the impact. The video also showed that the victim was walking near the curb and not obstructing the roadway. Several witnesses told police that Olson did not immediately return to the scene after the collision. Due to the totality of the evidence, including Olson's admission, video footage, and eyewitness accounts, he was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
