Suspect arrested in hit-and-run that killed jogger in Osceola County
Troopers ay a 40-year-old Kissimmee woman was killed while jogging on Florida Parkway Wednesday morning. Troopers say a pickup truck did not stop and struck her as she entered the intersection of Sprucewood Lane.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her name was not released.
The driver fled the scene.
On Thursday, troopers said they found the Ford F-250 and arrested the driver. Jairo Pena Espana, 21, of Honduras is charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving without a license involving death.

E-bike rider killed, another critically injured in Julia Tuttle Causeway crash
One man has died and another remains in critical condition after a car collided with an electric bicycle on the Julia Tuttle Causeway early Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Authorities said the e-bike should have never been on the highway. The crash happened just after 3 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 195 near Alton Road. The eastbound lanes of the causeway were shut down for hours. Both men on the e-bike were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. One man did not survive. FHP trooper Joe Sanchez said investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the man who died. "One of the individuals traveling on the bike, we have not been able to identify him. It is a white male, a John Doe. If you can help identify him, call FHP or call Crime Stoppers," Sanchez said. The number for Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is (305) 471-TIPS (8477). Sanchez said the sedan and the electric bike were both traveling eastbound when the collision occurred. "The electric bike was occupied by two individuals. This vehicle collided with the electric bike and ejected both people. The electric bike had no reason to be traveling on the highway. The electric bike had no business on the highway and we ask that people who are on scooters on electric bikes to stay off the highway and stay either on the sidewalk or stay on the shoulders," he said. "This could have been avoided if they were on the shoulder of the road but instead this electric bike that was occupied by 2 individuals collided with the vehicle because they were traveling on the highway and they didn't even have their lights on," Sanchez added. Sanchez said the driver of the car stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Four killed in two-vehicle crash on Ohio Turnpike
ELMORE – Troopers from the Milan post are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. Aug. 18. The crash occurred on the Ohio Turnpike at milepost 82 in Sandusky County. A 2020 International tractor-trailer, operated by Rolando Torres Lebron, 27, Buffalo, New York, was traveling westbound on the Ohio Turnpike when it struck a Ford F-450, and continued off the left side of the roadway, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. The commercial vehicle struck the median concrete barrier, re-entered the roadway, and continued off the right side of the roadway. It then struck a traffic sign pole before stopping. The Ford F-450, operated by Jared Cain, 38, Circleville, also traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck the median concrete barrier before stopping on the right shoulder. Lebron and his passengers in the International, Ayeisha Morales, 23, of Rochester, New York and two children, were killed. The driver of the Ford F-450, Cain, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Sandusky County Coroner's Office identified the children as Liam Cruz, 3, and Eliam Cruz, 1, both of Rochester, New York. The four fatalities were taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office in Toledo to determine cause of death. The Sandusky Township Volunteer Fire Department, Sandusky County EMS, Madison Motors Towing, Lucas County Coroner and the Ohio Turnpike Maintenance Department assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol on scene. The incident remains under investigation. Hit-and-run crash in Lake County: Pedestrian, 75, killed; driver, 37, arrested
LEESBURG — Leesburg resident Kevin Edward Custer, 37, has been arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and DUI manslaughter. About 9:10 p.m. Aug. 18, Custer was driving a 2012 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Radio Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. Just ahead of Patrick Drive, a 75-year-old man, whose name was not provided in the release, began crossing the road on foot in a residential area with no crosswalk near Graceway Church. Custer struck the pedestrian. Paramedics transported the victim to UF Health in Leesburg, where he died, according to the release. Custer left the scene of the crash, but a family member escorted him back there to talk to law enforcement, the patrol said. FHP seized the truck, arrested Custer and booked him into the Lake County Jail. The crash is still under investigation.
