Moving Through Time: Chopard's Imperiale Four Seasons
Chopard applies its boundless creativity to the well-loved Imperale line with a new take on this time-honored classic: the limited edition Chopard Imperiale Four Seasons. Here, Chopard masterfully blends its penchant for watchmaking and fine jewelry craftsmanship to create a real stunner that comprises sculpted gold, mother-of-pearl marquetry, and diamonds. And while the aesthetics are arresting to say the least, watchmaking offers another opportunity to shine. Inside, beats the in-house developed L. U. C movement, orchestrating 227 components and bestowing 65 hours of power reserve.
A rotating disc, indexed to the hour hand, completes a full revolution every 365 days. Its decor is painted mother-of-pearl marquetry, which transforms the miniature tableau into a moving landscape that conjures the cycle of the four seasons on the lower half of the dial. The upper half is embellished with 18-karat white gold sculpted into the image of a lotus flower, which is a recurring motif of the Imperiale. Satin-finished gold petals set off the delicate flower, each with polished gold veins. Open-worked dagger-shaped hour and minute hands add further dimension.
The ethical white gold 36mm case is water resistant to 50 meters, and the bezel, crown, and lugs, also in ethical 18-carat white gold, are set with diamonds. The watch has an exhibition caseback for a mesmerizing view of the self-winding movement, operated via a tungsten alloy micro rotor. Four interchangeable alligator leather straps accompany the watch, each suggesting the palette of a season.
Themes of Nature
The natural world is an important theme for timepieces this year, with many brands showcasing their métiers d'art in a variety of exquisite watch collections. Last spring, Harry Winston introduced its botanical-inspired collection of watches and jewelry using emeralds, pink sapphires, yellow diamonds and more to evoke flowers in bloom.
The new Rendez-Vous Shooting Star from Jaeger-LeCoultre offers two new variations this year. The watch, first introduced in 2022, derives its name from a dial design that expresses the effect of a shooting star when activated, here concealed by intricate hand-painted peonies when inactive. The 36mm pink gold pink peony model features a diamond-set pink gold bracelet; 625 brilliant-cut diamonds decorate the watch. The blue peony variation is paired with a shiny blue alligator leather strap; it is set with 189 brilliant-cut diamonds on the case and dial. The watch is fitted with the Jaeger Le-Coultre automatic caliber 734, with 70 hours of power reserve, visible through the exhibition caseback.
Vacheron Constantin looks to the heavens with the early-July debut of its Métiers d'Art Tribute to the Celestial series of 12 watches, whose dials are decorated with a hand-guilloche depiction of a zodiac sign and its associated constellation. The 39mm white gold case is decked out in baguette-cut blue sapphires to complement the blue dials, which are in turn set with brilliant-cut diamonds to evoke stars, and the four signs representing human figures (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Aquarius) feature opaline details. It takes approximately 16 hours of focused work to create just one zodiac sign for each dial.

Report – Inter Milan Put Off By €70M Price Tag For Monaco Star

Inter Milan are reportedly put off by the €70 million price tag from Monaco to sign forward player Maghnes Akliouche. This according to French outlet L'Equipe, via FCInterNews. Right now, Inter Milan are still all-in on signing Ademola Lookman. However, the Nerazzurri are accepting the possibility that their pursuit of the Nigerian could fail. Inter see Lookman as a perfect opportunity to bolster their attack with a proven commodity from within Serie A. However, they will not break the bank to sign the 27-year-old. And if Inter cannot sign Lookman for what they consider a reasonable fee, they will sign a different attacker. Inter Milan Put Off €70M Monaco Asking Price For Maghnes Akliouche France's midfielder #21 Maghnes Akliouche celebrates his team's sixth goal during the U23 friendly football match between France and Dominican Republic at Mayol Stadium in Toulon, south-eastern France, on July 11, 2024, in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The 23-year-old certainly impressed in a recent friendly match against Inter. He scored the opening goal within a minute. Therefore, it was not necessarily a surprise to see the Nerazzurri approach Monaco with an interest in signing Akliouche. According to L'Equipe, however, the price tag proved to be prohibitive. Monaco want a fee of €70 million for Akliouche. And that is more than Inter are able to spend.

Why quality non-US stocks are the 'cream of the crop'

Richard Bernstein Advisors (RBA) CEO Rich Bernstein joins Market Domination with Yahoo Finance Markets Reporter Josh Schafer and Interactive Brokers chief strategist Steve Sosnick to explain why he recommends quality non-US stocks that have been overlooked. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Domination. What are the other companies then, Rich? W- Where do you have your your eyes set on? So for me personally, I think I think the cream of the crop of the companies that are uh growing the same or better and people are ignoring would be quality stocks outside the United States. Look, let's let's set the stage here for a second. I don't think most people realize that the Euro stocks index is up about 20 something percent this year. Germany is up 30 something percent in US dollar terms versus Nasdaq up 9 to 10. Right? So the backdrop is you've already got a lot of performance going on that nobody cares about, but if you look at non-US quality, their growth rate, their anticipated growth rate is the same in some cases better than the MAG 7. They give you 10 times the dividend yield, basically 0.3 versus three, and they're selling at discounts of 30 to 50%. So Josh, the way I'd like to think about it is, if you could buy a Maserati for the price of a Chevy, wouldn't you do it? I think you probably would, and I think you'd probably ask me for two or three of them. Well, that's basically what's going on as the Maseratis are on sale. But Rick, you recently contributed to our Yahoo Finance chart book and so too did Steve Sosnick who's sitting next to me and you just hit on essentially exactly what Steve and I talked about during that project. Steve, you highlighted international stocks, right? And you you pointed out that rally. I mean, what do you make of sort of that side of the trade? Is there still more opportunity given the rally that we've seen outside of the US? Is that an area that you'd still be looking for? I would be, because for the for the reasons uh Rich just said. I mean, there there's a there are a lot of stocks that have been overlooked for years, and certainly you can't one thing you can't say about the the MAG 7 and friends is that they've been overlooked. Everybody everybody who's anywhere, thanks to um just their weights and indexes and FOMO and all these other factors, have been investing in them. So um yes, if you can if you can find these alternatives outside the US or or wherever, well, you know, even in the US, but but generally there's there's more of them outside the US. People have gotten um more tuned to that, um I think, you know, as the as the calendar turned, uh but that trade is not over yet. There there's still there's still plenty of value out there. I'm certainly not going to argue with that.

Chemicals maker Celanese's dour profit forecast sends shares tumbling

(Reuters) -Chemicals maker Celanese forecast third-quarter profit below estimates on Monday, anticipating waning demand across most of its key markets in the second half of the year, sending its shares down 14.6% in extended trading. The chemical industry has been struggling with higher energy costs, as well as weak demand and prices, especially in the European markets where strict regulations have further raised the cost of manufacturing. U.S. President Donald Trump's erratic trade policy has added to the uncertainty in the industry. The company, which makes chemical products used in coatings, paints and pharmaceutical products and polymers, projected adjusted profit of $1.10 to $1.40 per share in the third quarter. Analysts on average were expecting $1.73 per share, according to data compiled by LSEG. Celanese anticipates slowing demand to partially offset the benefits from the cost-cuts, which are expected to be realized in the third quarter. However, the Irving, Texas-based company reported adjusted profit of $1.44 per share in the second quarter, beating estimates of $1.40 on the back of cost-cutting measures. "We are also pleased that the deliberate actions we took drove earnings results for us this quarter," CEO Scott Richardson said. "However, the demand environment does not seem to be improving." The company said it has progressed to the second round of the divestiture process for its electronics segment, Micromax, having attracted interest from a number of potential buyers. Celanese had said in May it would spin off Micromax, a supplier of electronic inks and pastes designed for high-performance electronics, as the company looked to generate cash and cut debt. Materials from the Micromax unit are used in applications including navigation and defense, medical monitoring and advanced circuit board components.
