You can get $10 tickets to Hamilton in celebration of the show's 10th anniversary this week
Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre will be the room where it happens on August 6, which marks the tenth anniversary since Lin-Manuel Miranda's smash-hit retelling of the country's founding moved uptown from its 2015 debut at the Public Theater. An invite-only evening performance that Wednesday will serve as a fundraiser for the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition. The audience for that will comprise previous company members, celebrity friends and sweepstake winners, and is expected to raise around $3 million for the group of 14 nonprofits.
Fans can enter the lottery by visiting Hamiltonmusical.com/lottery or via the musical's official app. Only one entry per person, for up to two tickets, and no purchase is needed to enter. All will be notified between 1pm and 4 pm on July 31, with winners having two hours to claim and pay for their tickets. (Be smart! Don't share images of your tickets or entries and risk having them stolen.)
This is only the latest celebration announced for the musical's tenth anniversary, with the New York Yankees announcing that the first 10,000 attendees of its August 25 game at Yankee Stadium (against the Washington Nationals, natch) will receive a special edition of its legendary baseball cap with both the Yankees' insignia and Hamilton 's star-shaped logo. Original cast members Christopher Jackson and Renée Elise Goldsberry will perform at the game, as will current cast members Stephanie Umoh, Morgan Anita Wood, and Cherry Torres.
The production also recently collaborated with graphic design platform Canva for a fan art contest, with the winning creation to be used in both the show's August Playbill cover, as well as inside each August issue of the theater magazine. The winner will be selected from a group of 10 finalists (out of over 3,000) on August 1.
Hamilton, based on Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton, premiered at the Public Theater off-Broadway on February 17, 2015. An instant blockbuster, it quickly moved uptown, opening on Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theater, where it continues to play, on August 6 of that year. It went on to win 11 of its record-breaking 16 Tony nominations, and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Sony hikes profit forecast seeing smaller tariff impact
TOKYO, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Sony (6758.T), opens new tab raised its full-year operating profit forecast on Thursday by 4% to 1.33 trillion yen ($9.01 billion), citing expectations of a smaller impact from U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs. Sony sees a tariff impact of 70 billion yen, compared to 100 billion yen forecast in May. It said the estimated impact is based on tariff rates as of August 1 and that the situation remained fluid. Japanese companies have been adjusting their expectations of the hit from tariffs as countries strike trade deals with the U.S. including Japan last month. "There are still some fluid aspects, such as product specific tariffs," said Chief Financial Officer Lin Tao at an earnings briefing. The company expects uncertainty in the business environment such as additional U.S. tariffs will have greater impact from the second quarter onwards. Sony said it sees a stronger profit outlook at its games business, boosted by sales of network services and favourable exchange rates. Once known as a maker of household electronics such as the "Walkman" portable cassette player, Sony has become an entertainment behemoth spanning games, movies and music as well as a leading maker of image sensors for smartphones. The conglomerate reported a 36.5% rise in operating profit to 340 billion yen for the April-June quarter, beating the 288 billion yen average of eight analyst estimates compiled by LSEG. Shares in Sony, which announced results during the midday trading break, jumped 4%. The stock has gained around 15% year-to-date. Sony sold 2.5 million PlayStation 5 game consoles in the first quarter, a 4% rise compared to the same period a year earlier. "Death Stranding 2: On The Beach," launched in June to positive reviews with "Ghost of Yotei" due for release in October. Quarterly operating profit at the games business more than doubled to 148 billion yen due to higher sales of network services and games not made by Sony. The console industry was expected to receive a boost this year from the launch of "Grand Theft VI" but the latest addition to the popular series has been delayed to 2026. Nintendo (7974.T), opens new tab, which is seen as a potential beneficiary of GTA 6's delay, last week reported robust early demand for its new Switch 2 gaming device. Elsewhere at the conglomerate, Sony is preparing to cut its stake in its financial unit to less than 20% through a partial spin-off, with the business to list in Tokyo on September 29. This citywide scavenger hunt celebrates 10 years of ‘Hamilton'
Getting tickets to Hamilton just became as fun as seeing the show. In celebration of the show's ten-year anniversary, a three-week scavenger hunt is underway through August 24. Three winners will receive a pair of tickets to Hamilton on Broadway during a block from January-March 2026. Presented in partnership with New York City Tourism + Conventions as part of the Founded by NYC initiative, participants get to see the iconic landmarks tied to the show and the city's rich history and possibly get some free tickets out of it. After downloading the free HamApp and checking the official Hamilton and NYC Tourism + Conventions social channels, clues will become available for the search and participants will unlock special filters to share photos from the locations using #HamiltenNYC. For a chance to win tickets to Hamilton on Broadway, you must visit at least three locations and use the in-app #HamCam for special filters paired with each spot.
