SPARC tanks after psoriasis, eczema drug flunks Phase 2 trials
In a regulatory filing, SPARC said that its partner, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (SPIL), reported top-line results from Phase 2 studies of Vibozilimod (SCD-044), a drug candidate aimed at treating moderate-to-severe psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
Both trials failed to meet their primary endpoints: a 75% improvement in the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI75) and Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI75), respectively, by Week 16.
Following the setback, SPARC and SPIL stated they would assess the appropriate next steps for the development of Vibozilimod.
SPARC is a clinical stage bio-pharmaceutical company focused on continuously improving standards of care for patients globally, through innovation in therapeutics and delivery.
On a consolidated basis, SPARC reported net loss of Rs 59.77 crore in Q4 March 2025 as against net loss of Rs 105.79 crore in Q4 March 2024. Net sales rose 64.19% year-on-year to Rs 27.19 crore in Q4 March 2025.

323 PGI staff houses lie vacant, causing Rs 5.5 crore annual loss
As many as 323 houses meant for faculty and non-faculty staff of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Sectors 12 and 24 have been lying vacant for years, causing an annual financial loss of around Rs 5.5 crore, information obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed. According to the RTI reply, the losses are on account of forgone licence fees and the payment of 20% house rent allowance (HRA) to staff who could have been accommodated in these quarters. Over the last five to six years, the non-allotment of vacant houses has cost PGI more than Rs 20 crore. Applicant Ashwani Kumar Munjal, an honorary member of the PGI Employees' Union (Non-Faculty), said many of these houses have remained unoccupied from 2017 to 2025, even as several employees wait for official accommodation. 'Staff have to rent homes in far-off areas at high rates. This puts a heavy financial burden on them and delays their arrival for duty due to traffic congestion, ultimately affecting patient services,' he said. The RTI reply also shows that many of these houses have been locked up for years, rendering them uninhabitable. While PGI suffers rental losses running into several lakh rupees annually, it continues to incur expenses on the upkeep and security of these properties. Residential accommodation at PGI is primarily meant for faculty, resident doctors, nurses, and other staff. However, due to various reasons — from long-pending repairs to unsuitable location or size — 323 houses remain unallotted. A recent 'fitness report' of the vacant quarters flagged severe issues, including wall cracks, leaking roofs, faulty sewage and plumbing systems, unsafe electrical wiring, and dilapidated doors and windows. These problems have delayed allotment and driven up annual maintenance costs. Meanwhile, demand for on-campus housing remains high, with new doctors and employees often forced to rent costly accommodation outside. Staff representatives say timely repair and maintenance could prevent further financial losses and ease the housing crunch. Proposals under consideration include earmarking a separate repair budget and launching large-scale renovations to bring the locked quarters back into use.

Tata Power launches ‘Ghar Ghar Solar' in Pune
Tata Power Renewables, one of the country's top renewable energy players and a subsidiary of Tata Power, on Wednesday launched its flagship 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign in Pune. A special scheme 'Own a Rooftop Solar System' was also introduced ahead of Independence Day. The firm is actively involved in promoting solar energy adoption through the 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign that is also aligned with the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power Company Ltd, who was in Pune at the launch event, said by the year-end the aim is to ensure at least six lakh rooftop installations pan-India. Sinha spoke about the initiative with a special focus on Maharashtra. 'In Maharashtra, we are targeting to install 800-MW rooftop solar capacity over the next three years,' he said. As of July 2025, Tata Power Solaroof has achieved a cumulative installed rooftop solar capacity of 775 MWp (megawatt peak) in Maharashtra catering to 27,910 customers. In Pune, where the company already has a presence with 200-MW installed capacity, plans are underway to add a further 250 MW in the next three years. Announcing the key highlights of the new scheme, officials said it entails paying Rs 1,947 and owning the rooftop system, symbolic of the year of India's Independence. Elaborating, Sanjay Banga, CEO and MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), said it includes almost 100 per cent of system cost available as load, affordable EMIs, flexible financing tenures up to 60 months and complimentary one-year solar insurance for residential customers. 'This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of residential rooftop solar by offering high-quality, affordable, and easily accessible solar energy solutions backed by trusted service,' he added. Tata Power Company has expressed strong interest in obtaining a distribution licence for Pune city and adjoining Haveli, Maval, Mulshi, and Khed. 'We have submitted our application to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission for a licence to distribute electricity in Pune and adjoining areas. Yes, we are very much here,' Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power Company Ltd said on Wednesday. 'MERC is reviewing our application and as per the process, a public hearing will be held,' Sinha said.
