30 Iconic Bob Hairstyles Defining 2025
It's minimizing to call what's happening with bobs this year a trend. I'd sooner deem it a complete cultural takeover. I'm faced with cunty fresh cuts on my commute, in prestige television shows, at my grocery store, and swaying sophisticatedly in workout classes. It feels like every day on my Instagram feed, there's a new bob reveal, treated with the reverence and celebration of a pregnancy or engagement announcement. And I participate in the comment section revelry wholeheartedly. Because in every form they take, bobs devour, and I've become 100 percent convinced this cut is the chicest and most practical possible way to wear your hair. 'It's clean and intentional, and it can completely transform the way someone carries themselves,' says Kazu Katahira, a celebrity hairstylist with Forward Artists in New York, NY. 'And what I love most is how customizable it is. No two bobs are the same when you are doing it right. You can play with the length, the angle, the texture, and it becomes this little signature for the person wearing it.' I witnessed this wide variety of bob possibilities during Cosmo's photo shoot, dedicated to documenting the hairstyle's takeover. We invited 30 women with New York City's greatest bobs to come in, show them off, and share what makes the bob lifestyle a preferred one. From the French bobs to the graduated ones, these 30 New Yorkers have all braved the big chop and are better off for it. They're also proof that there's no one fixed way to rock this haircut. The Bandana Hair Trend Every Celeb Is Wearing—Summer Hair 2025
Every hair accessory has its moment. First, it was bows, then it was stretchy headbands à la 2004, then we saw all those fun claw clips. But now? We're fully back in our bandana era. Picture yourself riding in a convertible down the French countryside with a chic bandana tied around your head. That's the energy we're channeling for summer 2025. "I just got back from Paris and every store was stocked with rows upon rows of scarves in every color, fabric, and print you could imagine," says Cosmo beauty editor Beth Gillette. "I have to assume they've been collecting this many scarves just for this moment in beauty trend history." And if it's Euro summer approved, it's a trend I'm all for. The beauty of the accessory lies in its versatility—celebs like Gracie Abrams and Hailey Bieber have been rocking bandana hairstyles as of late. Even the Cosmo beauty team has been using them to cover a third-day blowout or elevate beach hair. There's truly no wrong way to bandana. Ahead, we've rounded up all the cutest bandana inspo. Plus, the best bandanas to shop now and how to style them. Gracie's bandana is the second most important part of this photo. It's almost like we manifested this trend with our Doechii summer cover shoot... Hailey Bieber wearing a bandana on a boat in Europe is the vibe I'm going for. This cherry headscarf is just so chic. Chappell's using this plaid bandana to tie back her voluminous curls is so simple yet so stylish. Okay, while I don't look half as cool as Doechii or Hailey Bieber in a bandana, it still works. It's simple, low-effort, and super cute. "I saw girls all over Paris with headscarves in their hair," says Gillette. "It's such a chic way to disguise second-day grease." Bandanas have been worn for decades, but there are still so many fresh ways to style them with any type of outfit. Fold one in half into a triangle and wrap it around the back of your head for that effortlessly cool look, or knot it under your chin to go full vintage. You can also place it over the top of your head and secure it at the back, leaving the rest of your hair down and loose. Try rolling it up and tying it around the nape of your neck to wear it like a headband. I've even seen fashion girlies fold them in half and wear them around the waist in a sarong-esque style. Honestly, there's no wrong way to wear one. Jasmine Hyman is the assistant beauty editor at Cosmopolitan, where she writes about all the biggest beauty trends out there. For this story, she spotted the trend on celebs and then spent weeks styling and trying bandanas. She also tapped beauty editor Beth Gillette for her insight. Her most prized beauty possessions are a meticulous skincare routine and salon blowouts. You'll also likely find her in bed reading a good book or endlessly scrolling TikTok (spoiler: it's usually the latter) while listening to Harry Styles' entire discography on repeat. 29 Neutral Pieces To Pick Up Now
A pair of extra-wide-leg darted palazzo pants that'll allow for ample airflow. It's basically like wearing a dress, but you don't have to worry about accidentally flashing anyone if a gust of wind catches you by surprise. A plain Madewell tee you can wear again and again and again because there's really no wrong way to pair it. Like seriously, I'd like to see an outfit it doesn't make sense with?? Or a geometric tee that will work just like any regular ol' tee, but with ✨a little extra spice ✨in the form of a cutout. A silky satin midi skirt with a silhouette that says "chic" and an elastic waistband that says "I'll give your most comfortable sweats a run for their money." A classic London Fog trench you can throw on over anything and immediately look like an incognito celeb — especially if you throw sunglasses into the mix. A trusty pair of Reebok Club C Doubles — the only shoes I'd save from a burning building if given the opportunity — with comfy platform soles and a high-abrasion outsole that guarantees durability. An on-trend vest top with a slightly cropped silhouette that'll pair per-fectly with all of your high-waisted bottoms and chunky gold accessories. A long-sleeve bodysuit in a deliciously soft fabric — known as Smoke Cloud — that reviewers compare to Skims. They say it washes well, too, so you can count on it being high quality despite the deceivingly low price! Or a double-lined square-neck option that's an absolute wardrobe win as reviewers describe it with words and phrases like "butter soft," "versatile," "super comfortable," and — simple and straight to the point — "OBSESSED." Some square-toe ballet flats if you're finally succumbing to balletcore after watching 10,000 GRWM videos that inevitably feature the style. A seriously *stunning* slip dress you can gussy up or tone down. Wear it with heels and you've got yourself an evening dress, or pair it with a leather jacket and ankle boots for an impossibly cool look. An oversized Levi's jean jacket that I won't even waste your time explaining. You and I both KNOW there's nothing more versatile, and denim is the ultimate neutral. A structured blazer with a classic collar and lapel you can layer over a button-up for an interview or over a simple tee for an office-appropriate outfit that takes zero brain power because having to make outfit decisions at 7 a.m. is rough. A pair of 100% European linen pants you *will* reach for every. single. day. — and I say this from experience. (If you're my friend and you've seen me wear these two days in a row... no, you didn't.) A mock neck tank sweater — with a smart cap sleeve — that makes a statement on all on its own, so you don't have to waste any time hemming and hawing over accessories. Some Levi's cinch baggy jeans with an ingenious set of side buttons so you can avoid the dreaded waist gap and enjoy a tailored-to-you fit without shelling out extra cash to go to an actual tailor. An off-the-shoulder top that's such a hit with reviewers, many have bought it in multiple colors. Slingback heels for anyone leaning into their timeless French fashion era. What can I say? The French know what they're doing, and these Chanel-inspired heels are a no-brainer. A denim midi skirt with a slitted hem that helps show off your footwear — especially if you're practicing what TikTok calls the "wrong shoe theory." A stretchy bodycon pencil dress that'll basically feel like a second skin. Some reviewers say they were considering splurging on the Skims version until they tried this and loved it just as much! A leather biker jacket with classic lapels and simple gunmetal finishings that make it a cinch to style. Like, seriously — throw it on over basically anything. A machine-washable (!!!) satin mini skirt prepared to pull the weight of your entire outfit. And you will be wearing it 24/7 — so not having to take it to the dry cleaners is a godsend. A smart button-down maxi if your usual go-to is an oversized men's shirt and lived-in jeans. But look, when it's freakin' humid out, reaching for denim just isn't an option. An oversized menswear-inspired button-up with a high-low shirttail hem and 100-percent cotton construction that'll stand up to years of wear. 👂What's that? Oh, Chessy called and she approves. An A-line, linen-blend midi dress that looks like it's from Reformation but it's actually from Old Navy (!!!) so you won't have to budget for months in order to afford it. A square-neck A-line dress with a slight drop waist (v on-trend) and a fitted bodice that's sure to become a summer go-to. Heck, you can even wear it well into fall and maybe even winter with some knee-high boots. A dainty ruffled set made from lightweight, breathable cotton so your en-vogue outfit won't turn your pits into a sweat fest. Some top-rated Everlane utility pants with accent stitching, patch pockets, and a cool cropped silhouette that reads like you put serious effort into your look even if all you did was slip on a white tee, slide on some platform Vans, and call it a day. And a pair of patent leather or suede knee-high boots that come in NINE DIFFERENT CALF WIDTHS if you've been struggling to find a pair that fit correctly for oh... idk... your whole life!!!
