After just seven months in retirement, Tim Kuniskis came back to run the Ram brand, and already he's left a mark. He confirmed the brand is working on a
new mid-size pickup
to arrive in 2027,
delayed
the all-electric Rev pickup,
reintroduced
the Hemi V-8 for its half-ton truck,
introduced
a segment-leading powertrain warranty, and brought the brand
to NASCAR
in the Truck series. Now, he's teasing something unexpected—a new passenger van.
In an interview with
CNBC
on Ram's (and his) comeback, Kuniskis teased the possibility of a passenger van while also mentioning the previously announced mid-sizer. Kuniskis said the brand has over 25 announcements planned through the end of 2026.

Ram already sells a van in the form of the Promaster, but only as a cargo van with a maximum of two rows of seating in "Crew" configuration. Fiat offers the Promaster's European cousin, the Ducato, as a passenger van. Ram also previously sold the smaller Promaster City as a passenger van before discontinuing the model entirely in 2022. But, perhaps Kuniskis is thinking about something more like a minivan. We've reached out to the brand for more info.
Since 2019, Ram has faced a 39% overall sales decline, and the all-important 1500 lost significant market share in the half-ton pickup class. All of this comes amidst wider struggles at Stellantis, which is attempting to turn things around after the disastrous tenure of former CEO Carlos Tavares.
CNBC
argues that Ram is one of Stellantis' most important brands, if not the most important, because of the profitability of pickup trucks.
Right now, there are only three players in the commercial passenger van segment—Ford with the Transit, Mercedes with the Sprinter, and GM with the Chevy Express and GMC Savanna. The minivan segment is stronger, with the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, Kia Carnival, Toyota Sienna, and Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — The debut of NASCAR's In-Season Challenge in Saturday night's Cup Series race in Atlanta generated differing opinions and expectations from drivers. After all, there's a points race to attend to. Every team's top priority is qualifying for the playoffs and trying to win the championship. Some drivers acknowledge they simply haven't paid attention to the new race within the race. Joey Logano says he sees no reason to view the new tournament as a distraction. 'If there's something to win, you want to go win it,' Logano said Friday. Denny Hamlin is the No. 1 seed in the 32-driver In-Season Challenge, a five-race, bracket-style tournament. Chase Briscoe, who held off Hamlin for his first win for Joe Gibbs Racing last week at Pocono Raceway, is the No. 2 seed. A $1 million prize awaits the winner as part of a new media rights deal that includes TNT. Briscoe said Friday he felt 'definitely a sigh of relief, you know, just a weight off your shoulders' following last week's win. He said that sense of relief was shortlived. 'I'm expected to win multiple races, not just one,' Briscoe said. 'It's a sense of relief, but also more pressure because now they know you can win.' NASCAR hopes the tournament generates mid-season interest. The single-elimination format cuts the field to 16 at Chicago, eight at Sonoma, four at Dover and the final two at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Many drivers expect their interest in the tournament will increase after Saturday night's race. 'I think some of the drivers have been kind of dismissive over the bracket challenge,' said Brad Keselowski, who enters the race No. 30 in the points standings and in need of a win in Atlanta to earn a playoff spot in his RFK Racing Ford. 'I think it'll become a lot more real, whether it be for the drivers or for the media or the fans, as it progresses into the later rounds over the next few weeks,' Keselowski said. Added Ricky Stenhouse, who is 24th in the points race, of the new tournament: 'It's cool. I think after this weekend you'll have a little better idea of what you have. Our main goal in Atlanta is winning and getting into the playoffs.' Drawing 'Uncle' Noah Briscoe is facing No. 31 seed Noah Gragson in the first bracket. He says it's a difficult matchup, in part because 'he's actually probably my best friend on the circuit … and my son's favorite driver.' Briscoe said his 3-year-old son, Brooks, thinks of Gragson 'like that uncle that just you take your kid to, and he has Pop-Tarts and ice cream and everything else when he's with them.' Added Briscoe: 'Hopefully I'll win. If not I'll never here the end of it from Noah or my son.' Briscoe posted a photo on his X account of his son's bracket. The photo shows the smiling Brooks holding a bracket with his father's No. 19 winning every round of the tournament. Racing for Rhealynn Chase Elliott has a special paint scheme on his No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet that was designed by 11-year-old cancer patient Rhealynn Mills. Elliott chose Mills' design to highlight his foundation's efforts to raise money for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Elliott said the 'Design to Drive' program has raised $500,000 for the children's hospital. 'The only bad thing is I feel like we've crashed every time we've done it,' Elliott said, adding his sponsor, NAPA Auto Parts, deserved credit 'for giving up the car' so the paint scheme could instead feature Mills' design. New name for Atlanta track EchoPark Speedway is the new name for the track that was still known as Atlanta Motor Speedway in February when Christopher Bell won while leading only the final lap in overtime. It's the home track for Elliott, from Dawsonville, Georgia, and he acknowledged seeing the name change and the new green paint 'was different for me. I think it's fine.' Stellantis CEO Filosa retains former role, will also lead North American operations

Antonio Filosa is starting a new job and keeping his old one. Filosa officially began as the CEO of Stellantis — the international automaker that owns Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat and more — on Monday, June 23. Filosa, who has been with Stellantis-affiliated brands for over 25 years, rose to CEO from his latest gig leading operations in the Americas and product quality across the company. In assigning a leadership team on his first day, Filosa announced he plans to maintain oversight of North American operations while serving as CEO. On Filosa's first day of work, the automaker announced several details — including his prioritizing of North America — that provide some insights into what Stellantis may look like under his lead. Overseeing North America Filosa, 51, is succeeding Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares. Tavares was the first CEO of the company following a merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Peugeot S.A. Group in 2021. During Tavares' tenure, Stellantis consistently slipped in profits and maintained a reputation with employees and dealers that proved difficult to resolve. Tavares resigned in late 2024. During Tavares' tenure, he attracted the ire of United Auto Workers — who launched strikes and subsequent "Keep the Promise" campaigns when they felt Tavares failed to hold up Stellantis' end of the bargain — as well as North American auto dealers. Frustrated U.S. Stellantis dealers took an extraordinary step in September to write a public letter chastising Tavares and the company's operations. Calling Tavares' leadership "reckless," the dealers said their hallmark American brands were floundering. "The reckless short-term decision-making to secure record profits in 2023 has had devastating, yet entirely predictable, consequences in the U.S. market," the letter read. Filosa, though, has generally received positive marks from North American dealers who feel he is more in tune with their market. According to analyst Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions, the move to emphasize North America makes sense from a business perspective. Note to the next Stellantis CEO: First thing, kill these 4 brands "North America is the most important region to Stellantis on a profit level," Fiorani said. "Between Ram and Jeep, the revenues from those brands correct any shortfalls from other brands around the world." Fiorani expects Stellantis to position the brands even more aggressively in the coming months. "In the next six months or a year, we should really see some solid moves to better position at least Jeep and Ram, if not the rest of the North American brand," Fiorani said. Working from Detroit When Filosa served as chief operating officer of the Americas — a role he plans to continue — he worked from Chrysler Headquarters in Auburn Hills. Now at the top of the international company, Stellantis officials confirmed to the Free Press that Filosa and his family are staying in metro Detroit. To Fiorani, this might help mend some wounds from the Tavares era. "Filosa knows this is really important," Fiorani said. "Making sure that he is on the ground, in Detroit, is the first step toward (shoring up the stability of the company)." Before taking over as CEO, Filosa toured several North American plants, including the Detroit Assembly Complex and Sterling Stamping Plant. The leadership team On his first day, Filosa named the brand's next top executives. Nearly all of the appointees came from within the company, with many beginning with affiliated brands prior to Stellantis' formation in 2021. While Filosa is posturing to lead the North American arm of the company, much of his leadership team is based in Europe. To Fiorani, the region from which the executives lead is less important than their experience. "They all have such deep backgrounds," Fiorani said. "This provides a world-class team, one the company likely hasn't seen in decades." The new team, while primarily homegrown, does not mean business as usual for the automaker. In fact, Fiorani said, their experience within the company is a plus. "Most of the people there have two decades of experience. The average among this group is nearly 21 years within some brand of Stellantis," Fiorani said. "They seem to live and breathe this company."
