Peacock's ‘The Paper' announced as official follow-up to ‘The Office'
Peacock has officially announced The Paper as the next installment in The Office universe, with the new mockumentary series premiering in September 2025.
Created by The Office showrunner Greg Daniels and Michael Koman (Nathan for You), the series shifts focus from Dunder Mifflin to the struggling newsroom of a historic local paper in Toledo, Ohio.
Domhnall Gleeson stars as the publisher of the failing Midwestern newspaper, leading a crew of untrained staffers forced to double as volunteer reporters due to budget constraints. The series takes a comedic look at the decline of local journalism and the impact of the internet on traditional media, with Daniels calling it 'a fruitful premise' during a recent interview.
Oscar Nuñez will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez from The Office, continuing the character's journey in a new setting. He jokingly remarked at NBCUniversal's upfront event that he once imagined Oscar moving to a more cosmopolitan place—only to end up in Toledo, which he noted has 'three times the population of Scranton.'
The series also stars Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Several cast members, including Ikumelo, Edelman, and Mo Welch, also contribute as writers. Guest stars include Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, and Nancy Lenehan.
The Paper is produced by Universal Television, with executive producers Daniels, Koman, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas.

BTS Jin transforms Tonight Show stage into giant bed for cozy performance and playful interview with Jimmy Fallon
On Wednesday night, May 21, BTS member Jin returned to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with a memorable performance and interview. For his appearance, he transformed the stage into a giant bed, creating a cozy atmosphere for his live rendition of 'Don't Say You Love Me,' the lead single from his newly released second solo EP, Echo. The seven-track EP, which follows his November debut solo project Happy, was released on May 16. Following his intimate performance in Studio 6B, Jin sat down with host Jimmy Fallon for an engaging interview. In a playful twist, he reversed the usual roles by taking over Fallon's desk and interviewing the late-night host himself. This marked Jin's second solo visit to the show, following his first appearance in late 2024. BTS has maintained a strong relationship with The Tonight Show, first appearing in 2018 with performances of their hits 'Idol' and 'I'm Fine.' The group returned in 2020 with multiple appearances, including virtual performances during the pandemic, and again in 2021 to promote their chart-topping singles 'Butter' and 'Permission to Dance.' Earlier this year in March, Jin's bandmate j-hope made his solo debut on the show, also opting for a relaxed vibe by wearing fluffy bunny slippers during his performance. Fans eager to catch Jin's full performance and interview can tune in to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC at 11:35 p.m. ET or stream the episode on Peacock.

Super Mario World revealed as title for Mario movie sequel releasing in April 2026
The sequel to Illumination and Nintendo's blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie is officially titled Super Mario World, according to a press release by NBCUniversal outlining its upcoming film slate. The sequel is scheduled for theatrical release on 3 April 2026. Following the first film's commercial success, a sequel was confirmed soon after, though details remained limited until now. An end-credit scene in the 2023 film teased Yoshi's arrival, and NBCUniversal's slate confirms his expanded role in the sequel. As reported by NintendoJam, the title Super Mario World pays homage to the iconic 1990 SNES game, which marked Yoshi's first appearance in the Mario franchise. The title suggests the film may draw heavily from that game, with Yoshi expected to take centre stage. Super Mario World is being produced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri alongside Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, the original creator of Mario. Returning to direct are Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with Matthew Fogel once again handling the screenplay. With the title and release date now confirmed, fans can expect more updates as the film moves toward its 2026 premiere.

Michael Jordan on NBC: NBA goat to cover NBC's coverage of 2025-26 season
NBC is bringing back the NBA — and with it, a living legend. Michael Jordan, the six-time NBA champion and five-time MVP, is officially joining NBC Sports as a special contributor to its upcoming NBA coverage. The network made the surprise announcement Monday during its annual Upfronts, revealing a short nostalgic video of Jordan's iconic moments on the court. The moment lit up social media, with NBC posting, 'A legendary addition to our team! We're thrilled to welcome Michael Jordan as a special contributor to the NBA on NBC and Peacock.' A legendary addition to our team! We're thrilled to welcome Michael Jordan as a special contributor to the NBA on NBC and Peacock. — NBA on NBC and Peacock (@NBAonNBC) May 12, 2025 Jordan, 62, also addressed fans via a brief video message, marking his return to the professional basketball limelight — not as a player or team owner, but as a voice on one of the most anticipated sports broadcasting comebacks in years. This will be his first on-camera role covering the NBA since his retirement in 2003. NBC's new 11-year media rights agreement with the NBA kicks off with the 2025-26 season. While Jordan's exact responsibilities haven't been detailed, the announcement alone has sparked buzz across the sports world, with fans already speculating on whether he'll appear courtside, in the studio, or behind the scenes. NBC is really going all out — Antwan V. Staley (@antwanstaley) May 12, 2025 Jordan is and will always be the goat. He transformed basketball. Unfortunately, the nba turned into trash. — MAGA Firearms & Tech (@magafirearmstec) May 12, 2025 I remember Bull's 6 feat with Michael Jordan many years ago. Miss those times. — KC7322@TJ33654 (@TaeChoi40839) May 12, 2025 Since stepping away from the game, Jordan's influence hasn't faded. He owned the Charlotte Hornets from 2010 until selling in 2023 and cofounded the NASCAR team 23XI Racing with Denny Hamlin in 2020. NBC previously held NBA broadcast rights until 2002 — and now, with Jordan back in the mix, their return feels nothing short of prime time.
