Teardown reveals the Kirin 8020 chipset inside the nova 14 Ultra

GSM Arena20-05-2025

Huawei announced its nova 14 series yesterday without a trace of information regarding their chipsets. Luckily, Chinese social media has once again come through and user @FixedFocus shared more details about the SoC inside the nova 14 Ultra. The device is equipped with the new Kirin 8020 chipset. The preliminary verdict – it's an underclocked version of the Kirin 9020 from the Mate 70 series.
The chip apparently features the same 1+3+4 CPU configuration, though with slightly downclocked speeds. Kirin 8020 gets 1x prime core @2.29GHz, 3x cores @2.05GHz and 4x efficiency units @1.3GHz. The CPU is joined by the Maleoon 920 GPU with 2x processing units clocked @840MHz.
Huawei nova 14 Ultra teardown and the Kirin 8020 chipset
The teardown reveals that the Kirin 8020 inside the nova 14 Ultra features a 30% larger package area which makes it similar in size to the Kirin 9010 – the chip inside the Pura 70 series. Kirin 8020 comes with HiSilicon branding and bears the Hi62B0 identifier. Huawei also managed to integrate the Beidou and Tiantong satellite connectivity into the new Kirin 8020 chipset.

First Google Pixel 9a discount hits Amazon, possibly for a limited time

Released less than two months ago, the Pixel 9a stands out as one of the best mid-range phones in 2025. At a relatively affordable price, this bad boy packs an ultra-bright display and a solid camera. And now, thanks to Amazon's latest deal, it's also cheaper than ever! Yep, we're already getting a first-time discount of $50, making the ~$500 model a great pick for Google fans. We don't think this 10% markdown will remain live for long, so we'd recommend acting fast if you want to save. $50 off (10%) You can now save $50 on the latest Google Pixel mid-ranger, the Pixel 9a. This is a first-time discount that probably won't last very long. It's available on all 128GB color variants and the 256GB model in Obsidian. Act fast and save before it's too late. Buy at Amazon We've spent time with this fella, and it's a major winner on many fronts. Firstly, it has an excellent 6.3-inch OLED display with a 60-120Hz refresh rate. Sure, the bezels are a bit thick, but you still get a great visual experience. Under the hood, you get the Tensor G4 chip, which performs well enough on a daily basis, though it certainly isn't a benchmark winner. Still, as we've emphasized in our Pixel 9a review, the device performs better than the Galaxy A56, so at least that's something. What about the camera? The Android phone is equipped with a 48MP main sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide lens on the rear, with a 13MP selfie camera completing the setup. You get photos with great dynamics and lifelike colors, especially during the day. If there's anything not quite perfect, it must be the lack of the full Gemini experience. Google has equipped the device with Gemini Nano, which lacks support for features like Call Noted and the new Screenshots app. On the bright side, you get seven years of promised software support, ensuring your device remains safe and secure for years to come. Overall, the Pixel 9a is a great mid-range option you shouldn't overlook. Now that it's on sale for $50 off, it's even more attractive. Hurry up and save on the 128GB variant at Amazon before it's too late.

OnePlus 13s in for review

Today we have with us the OnePlus 13s. While we can't share all the details yet, we can show off the exterior and talk about some of the features of this upcoming device. The first thing we should say is that this is not the retail packaging. The fancy black box is just for showing on camera but if you place an order for the phone you'll just be getting the red box you see inside. The OnePlus 13s will come in three colors, black, green, and pink that we have here. The green model is exclusive to India while the pink makes the 13s the first OnePlus phone to ship in this color. On the side of the phone is the new Plus Key, which replaces the Alert slider on previous OnePlus flagships. This key can be assigned to various functions, including AI Plus Mind which captures and collates information on the screen within a new app called Mind Space that is part of the new OnePlus AI feature set. The 13s runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with a sizable internal cooling system. The phone features a 32MP front-facing camera with autofocus, a first for a OnePlus phone. There's also 5.5G networking and an independent Wi-Fi chipset. All of this is packed into a compact body with a 6.32-inch display. We will have a lot more to share when the phone gets officially launched on June 5. Until then, you can check out some camera samples from the phone.

Honor Magic V5 battery capacity could increase 20%

Honor is expected to launch Magic V5 soon, and the device was already certified at CMIIT. The phone with model number MHB-AN10 has a minimal 5,950 mAh battery capacity, which, according to tipsters, translates to a typical 6,100 mAh battery capacity. If this is really the case, the Magic V5 will get an almost 20% bigger battery than its predecessor, which was already extremely thin and powerful. The rumor comes from a post about the vivo X Fold5, which is rumored to sport a 6,000 mAh dual-cell. The leakster, who is usually on point with such rumors, replied in comments that the Magic V5 will have a 100 mAh bigger battery than the vivo's. The increased battery is not a surprise, as many smartphone companies in China follow the trend of Si/Ca cells, which provide more power in less volume. We also heard that the device will be under 9 mm thin, when folded; another improvement over the Magic V3, which was 9.2 mm. Honor Magic V3 We are still waiting for anything official from Honor, so for now, anything on the Magic V5 is treated as a wishful rumor. Source (in Chinese) | Via
