Woman wanted in connection to deadly shoplifting crime ditches sentencing hearing
Police are now looking for 40-year-old Tashina Dobbins. She was scheduled to be sentenced Monday, March 31st for her role in the shoplifting of a Sandalwood beauty shop - a crime that ultimately led to the shop owner's death.
However, Dobbins never showed up in court, and now has a warrant out for her arrest.
Dobbins was originally held on a $60,000 bond. She was released in late February after sitting in jail for two months.
Tanisha Dobbins changed her original plea from 'not guilty' to 'guilty' for felony petty theft after shoplifting.
Dobbins is the only person to have been arrested for the incident that cut the life short of 64-year-old Ilson Kim, the owner of a local beauty supply store, Beauty Max.
Back on December 6th, Dobbins and an unknown man were seen at the Beauty Max. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Kim caught the man stealing hair products from her store. As she tried to retrieve the stolen merchandise, they said the suspect struck her with his car and fled the scene.
The man left Dobbins behind.
Unfortunately, Ilson Kim died at the hospital.

A business owner next door said Kim was a dedicated business owner and mother. She asks everyone to remember: no item is worth risking your life over.
'We have an alarm that is set up for when the police come, but if they take off, they take off. We do not leave the door. We do not chase after them.'
Surveillance video later helped officers identify Tashina Dobbins as the second suspect in the case. She had several other theft-related arrests. Officers said Dobbins was later seen being picked up by the driver at a nearby Walmart.
So far, the driver has not been identified or arrested in connection to the case.
Ilson Kim's family representative provided a statement back in December shortly after her death:
'We don't know exactly why she decided to confront the shoplifters, but the store had experienced thefts in the recent past. Someone even had the audacity to steal from the store the day after her death.'

In January, the family issued the following message to everyone in the community who had offered condolences or donated to support the grieving family:
'Whether you attended her service, danced at her Zumba memorial, sent flowers or simply held us in your thoughts, please know how deeply we appreciate your love and support. It is a true testament to the impact Ilson had on so many lives and the strength of the community around us.'
Police are still looking for the man suspected of running over and killing Ilson Kim, and it is not clear whether Dobbins was providing information to help identify him.

Inmate dies at Jacksonville hospital before making it to Duval County Jail, police say
An inmate died at a hospital while in police custody before he made it to the Duval County Jail, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. Adam Christopher Torrens, 59, was arrested on May 17 in Clay County on a violation of probation warrant out of Duval County, JSO said. JSO said Torrens' violation of probation stemmed from his local arrest on February 18, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (domestic). While in Clay County Sheriff's Office custody, Torrens was being treated at a hospital in Clay County. Torrens remained at the Jacksonville hospital until Tuesday, when he died. Man breaks in and kills neighbor to steal his Xbox a second time, FL cops say
A man stole his neighbor's Xbox, then when his neighbor bought a new Xbox, he broke in again, killed him and stole his new Xbox, Florida authorities said. James Conyers, 45, was convicted of second-degree murder and dealing in stolen property, and now he's been sentenced to life in prison, Duval County records show. His attorney declined to comment to McClatchy News on June 3. The investigation began when Terrill Trumble, 28, didn't show up to work July 24, 2023, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. He wasn't answering his door, but one of his friends noticed his back door was unlocked, police wrote in an arrest report. When he went inside, he found Trumble dead on the bathroom floor with a gunshot wound to the head, and his new Xbox had disappeared, according to police. Neighbors at the apartment complex said Trumble had ongoing issues with Conyers, adding Conyers had 'bragged' about breaking into Trumble's apartment and stealing his Xbox and a shotgun a month earlier, according to police. Trumble bought a new Xbox, but on July 23, 2023, Conyers' girlfriend reported that he had disappeared from their apartment with her gun and her vehicle, officers said. He came back later that day but refused to explain why he had taken her gun, she told officers, according to the report. The next day, Trumble was found dead, police said. Conyers denied killing Trumble, saying they were friends and had no issues, but detectives said they found out someone had sold both of Trumble's stolen Xboxes to a gaming store. Trumble's new Xbox was sold to the store hours after he was killed, investigators said. Phone records showed Conyers was in the same area of the store when the Xboxes were sold, and he had looked up the store online, police said. The bullet used to kill Trumble was fired from Conyers' girlfriend's gun, investigators said. Detectives said they learned Conyers had previously been convicted of manslaughter in South Carolina from a similar incident in which Conyers' friend was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head. He was prohibited from possessing a firearm. A jury found Conyers guilty in April, prosecutors announced.

14-year-old Jacksonville boy with autism reported missing
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is asking for help locating a missing 14-year-old boy who has autism. Leland 'Mikey' Scales, 14, was last seen around 11 p.m. Monday in the 7100 block of Natal Avenue, a JSO news release states. 'It is unclear when he left the residence, but he was seen on foot between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. in the 6900 block of West Beaver Street, heading east while carrying an orange and black backpack,' the news release states. Leland is 5′4″, 150 pounds with blue eyes and blond hair. He was last seen wearing a black Spiderman T-shirt and black basketball shorts.
