Jakob Breum decision raises Celtic eyebrows amid transfer interest as striker target hopes look wrecked
The champions saw a bid for the Danish star turfed out last month Celtic transfer target Jakob Breum has been left out of the squad for Go Ahead Eagles' Eredivisie opener against Fortuna Sittard. The Danish winger was the subject of a £1.5million bid from Brendan Rodgers ' side earlier this summer that was quickly rejected by the Dutch outfit who have stated that they won't sell the player for any less than £5million. Record Sport has learned that the Dutch outfit are standing firm on their valuation of the player because 25 per cent of his next transfer fee will be awarded to Breum's former club Odense, having inserted a sell-on clause into the Dane's switch to the Netherlands two years ago. Breum started in last weekend's 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Johan Cruyff Shield but will not be a part of the travelling party to face Fortuna away from home on Friday night. However, De Stentor report that the player's absence is not related to his future and that Breum has missed out after picking up a knock against PSV. The player himself recently hinted that he could move on from Go Ahead before the window slams shut on September 1. Speaking to ESPN, he said: "Time will tell. "There's still one month left, but as long as I'm here, I'll do my best. It's a boring answer, but that's the way it is. Now that important players have left, other players have to step up." Meanwhile, Napoli forward Giuseppe Ambrosino is reportedly closing in on a loan move to Serie A newboys Cremonese. The 21-year-old had emerged as a potential target for the Hoops after catching the eye for Italy at the U21 European Championships. Ambrosino is expected to be moved on by Antonio Conte's team and Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via claim that Napoli will meet with Cremonese officials today in order to thrash out a loan deal with an option to buy. Leeds transfer news: Dream window as ex-Premier League striker and £25m star join
Leeds have splashed out nearly £80million on seven fresh faces ahead of their return to the Premier League - but there is always room for new recruits, with boss Daniel Farke in the market for a forward. Farke learned just how difficult the English top-flight can be when his Norwich City side were relegated in 2020 and will want to leave no stone unturned ahead of his quest for survival with Leeds. Farke took the reins at Leeds in 2023 and has since overseen two remarkable seasons, culminating in the Whites' return to the Premier League after a two-year hiatus. Leeds will kick-start their season against Everton at Elland Road next week, and a solid start on home turf would undoubtedly be the perfect way to kick off the campaign. Here we examine potential further additions to aid Leeds' Premier League survival bid. £46m deal paves the way for new forward Leeds reaped the benefits of Joel Piroe's goal-scoring prowess last season, with his 19 goals earning him the Championship golden boot. However, the forward is yet to prove himself in the Premier League. With Farke sidelining Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt, his attacking options are limited, leaving Piroe supported by young Harry Gray. However, the imminent departure of Darwin Nunez from Liverpool, who have agreed to a £46m plus add-ons deal with Al-Hilal, could pave the way for Leeds to entice Aleksander Mitrovic back to England. The Serbian has been with the Saudi Pro League side for three years, but rumours suggest the club might be willing to part ways with the 30-year-old, possibly due to the expected arrival of the Uruguayan. Mitrovic, who netted 38 Premier League goals during his eight-year stint in English football with Newcastle and Fulham, would provide Farke with a proven goal scorer familiar with the relegation battle pressures. Triggering £24.5m release clause Enhancing their attacking prowess appears to be a key focus of Farke's transfer strategy, with Leicester City's creative midfielder Bilal El Khannouss reportedly on his radar. Despite experiencing relegation in his debut season of English football last term with the Foxes finishing 18th, the 21-year-old Moroccan impressed potential buyers with his flair and forward-driving ability. Leeds seem to be leading the race for his signature this month. If they manage to secure a deal for the young talent, they'll need to activate his reported £24.5m release clause, which is set to expire next Friday, just three days before their season opener against the Toffees. Challenge in replacing Manor Solomon Manor Solomon was a key player in Farke's system last season, netting 10 goals and providing 12 assists, helping Leeds United clinch the Championship title. However, this season they'll be without his services as the winger has returned to Tottenham after his loan spell. There are whispers of a reunion, with reports suggesting Spurs might accept less than £20m for the Israeli star. If that doesn't pan out, Leeds have reportedly set their sights on Fiorentina's Riccardo Sottil. A bid for the Italian would put Leeds in a bidding war, with Tutto Mercato reporting that Torino and Sassuolo are also keen on signing Sottil.

Ex-Man Utd star offered Premier League transfer lifeline after rejecting Wrexham
Former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is still a free agent after leaving Old Trafford earlier this summer and is now a transfer target for Burnley Christian Eriksen has emerged as an ambitious transfer target for Premier League new boys Burnley after leaving Manchester United as a free agent earlier this summer. The Denmark international, 33, spent three years at Old Trafford after joining United from Brentford, making 107 appearances in total. And with a wealth of Premier League and international experience under his belt, Eriksen has no shortage of admirers as he weighs up his next move. Eriksen has attracted offers across the world from clubs who are keen on snapping up the attacking midfielder. But with Eriksen understood to be keen on staying in western Europe, the option of joining Burnley and remaining in England could appeal to the former Tottenham man. The Mail report that the Clarets have made contact with Eriksen over a possible deal, which would be regarded as a major coup for Scott Parker's side. It's claimed that Eriksen also has interest in his services from clubs in Germany and Spain which could scupper Burnley's chances of convincing the playmaker to sign up at Turf Moor. Eriksen's agent, Martin Schoots, recently confirmed that his client wants to stay in Europe. He told the same publication: "Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe. "There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides." Those comments came in the wake of an audacious approach from Wrexham, who have just been promoted to the Championship. The Red Dragons, owned by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, are in the market for marquee signings after winning three consecutive promotions to reach the second-tier. Phil Parkinson, Wrexham's manager, subsequently confirmed that contact had been made with Eriksen but that things had gone no further. "There was a call, a bit of dialogue over the summer, but it's not gone any further than that," he told BBC Sport Wales. "But obviously he's a majorly talented player and very well respected throughout football." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
