And now, here's the big update: Amazon Prime Video has officially bagged the digital streaming rights for Thammudu, as reported by 123Telugu. As per current market trends, the film might drop on OTT within 4 weeks of its theatrical release, but only if the film underperforms at the box office. If it fares well, the release could be pushed beyond the 30-day window.
What is Thammudu all about?
While the plot is being kept under wraps till the trailer drops, what's known is that Thammudu is an emotional action drama with family values at its heart. The film focuses on the bond between a brother and sister, with Nithiin playing the younger sibling and veteran actress Laya returning to Telugu cinema after years to play his sister.
Meet the cast and crew
Nithiin – The lead actor who desperately needs a box-office revival. After hits like A Aa, Sye, and Bheeshma, his recent outings haven't done well, and Thammudu is a make-or-break for him.
Sapthami Gowda – Of Kantara fame, making her Telugu debut with this project. Sources say she has a strong, performance-oriented role and is paired opposite Nithiin.
Laya – Making her comeback to Telugu films after a long break. Her role as Nithiin's sister is being billed as one of the emotional highlights.
Varsha Bollamma, Swasika, and Saurabh Sachdeva also feature in important supporting roles.
Thammudu is being bankrolled by Dil Raju and Shirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The music has been composed by Ajaneesh Loknath, the man behind the soulful background score of Kantara. Given that this is Ajaneesh's second film with Saptami, expectations are high on the music front as well.

He opened up about the industry practice of buying YouTube views for trailers and songs, announcing that he's denouncing it. Here's what he said. He said, 'I've been meaning to talk about this for a while now, and I must address it today. Whatever views you see on YouTube for this film are original. I've told my PR team and everyone working for me that the numbers must reflect real views. I do not want to fake numbers anymore.' He stated that he's adapting this practice so he knows beforehand, as a producer, how much the audience is really interested in his films. 'I want to know how many views my songs or trailers bring in so I'm prepared for how much reach it'll have upon release. When we're buying views, there's a large number for us to show, but we don't really know if it's reaching the intended audience. Even if it's difficult, I've decided to take the first step in doing this,' explained Raju. When everyone looked shocked at the tangent his speech took, Raju claimed that he wasn't stating anything 'controversial', reasoning that it's the only way producers can 'correct' themselves. 'I am not saying anything controversial. I believe we (producers) will know how to correct ourselves only when we see genuine numbers. If the film is worth it, people will watch it anyway. Look at how Sankranthiki Vasthunam became an all-time record. Court also became a super hit. 2025 has proved that all we need is good content.' In January this year, Raju was called out by the press for releasing a poster for the Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer, claiming it earned over ₹186 crore worldwide on its opening day, when in reality it earned that amount in its lifetime. He defensively said, 'I've already said we (producers) have weaknesses we can't discuss. I admit that, no. Don't you know how much the film has already collected? So you calculate and put out posters for films now.'

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan said she was gutted by the news of the plane crash. "Praying for everyone aboard. The passengers, crew and their families. No words for the sorrow this brings," Kareena wrote on Instagram. "Heartbreaking to hear about the plane crash in Ahmedabad. Praying for miracles for lives to be saved and for the injured to heal. Vicky Kaushal also called the news of the plane crash "devastating". "Making my heart sink reading about 242 persons on board. Praying for everyone's safety and recovery," he added.
