OnePlus Pad 2 Pro specs leak — this tablet is a beast

OnePlus may be working on a powerful new tablet that could launch this year. The new tablet is reportedly the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro.
Specs for the beastly new tablet were shared by regular leaker Digital Chat Station over on Weibo. DCS claimed that that Pro version of the Pad 2 is one of only two tablets expected to launch in the first half of 2025 featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
However, it's unclear what the other tablet supposedly is and we couldn't find it mentioned in his Weibo feed.
As for the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro, DCS says (via machine translation) that the tablet is "more oriented towards gaming and e-sports."
It's supposed to feature the Snapdragon chip and 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM alongside 1TB of storage.
It'll also be larger the than the OnePlus Pad 2 with a 13.2-inch LCD display about an inch larger than the 12.1-inch panel on last year's tablet. It should match the Pad 2 with a 3.4K resolution.
For cameras, the Pro version is supposed to have a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front cam.
For charging it'll either have 67W or 80W charging with a "super 10,000-level large battery." If OnePlus is known for one thing it has to be battery life and last year's tablet ran out a 9,000 mAh battery that had provided epic battery life in Tom's Guide testing at nearly 15 hours.
It's looking like the Pad 2 Pro will likely have even longer battery life with its larger battery and optimization and efficiency with the Qualcomm chip.
If this tablet turns out to be real, the question is whether or not the global audience will get this version. Last year, OnePlus released the OnePlus Pad Pro as a China-only tablet.
However, the OnePlus Pad 2 that came out in the United States was the same tablet specs-wise.
If we do see this Pad 2 Pro outside of China it will likely launch as the OnePlus Pad 3. The Pad 2 came out in June of 2024 so we expect a similar launch window for the Pad 3, if it comes to the States.

The OnePlus Pad 3 Is Official and Looks to Be a Solid Midrange Android Tablet
OnePlus took the wraps off its latest tablet, the Pad 3, on Thursday, firmly planting itself in the midrange tablet arena. With a larger screen, a Snapdragon 8 Elite, and 12GB of RAM, it should be able to take on any task you'd expect to perform on a modern Android tablet these days. The larger screen has increased the overall footprint of the OnePlus Pad 3, but it's also thinner than the Pad 2, coming in at 5.97mm thin. While that's a touch thicker than the Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 lineup, it's plenty thin for most people who will actually care. That thinness could perhaps be decreased if OnePlus eventually opts for an OLED panel instead of the LCD display the Pad 3 ships with. Sporting a resolution of 3392x2400, offering a pixel density of 315 per inch and a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate, it should be an enjoyable and smooth experience across the board. It's not the brightest display, though, coming in at 600 nits. That'll make it fine for indoor use, but a bit of a struggle outdoors and in direct sunlight. There's no fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device, leaving you only with face unlock for biometrics. For software, the Pad 3 runs Oxygen OS 15 on top of Android 15, giving a fairly up-to-date software experience that will more than likely get the Android 16 update eventually. Pricing, availability and free gifts In the US, there's only one configuration for the OnePlus Pad 3, so you'll need to be happy with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $699. It's unlikely to sway Apple fans of any sort, it fills a thin area in the Android tablet landscape that's really only been occupied by Samsung. In what looks to be a pre-order only bonus, OnePlus is offering some free gifts along with a Pad 3 purchase. You can choose two of the following three options for free: Smart Keyboard ($199), the Folio Case ($50), or the Stylo 2 pen ($100). The new OnePlus Pad 3 OnePlus debuted its latest premium OnePlus Pad 3 tablet today. Packed with high-end specs, it has a sleek and lightweight aluminum build, is just 5.97mm thin, has a 13.2-inch touchscreen with 3.4K resolution and amazing color depth, fluted edges, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. It's fast – in fact, its performance is 45 percent faster than its predecessor. The screen refresh rate is a lightning 144 hz – which makes it great for gaming. Yet it also has enough muscle to handle serious work. And thanks to intelligent heat dissipation, it stays cool the entire time. Oh, and there's also 'holo' spatial audio that lets you specifically aim the sound direction of each of the eight speakers. With the 80W fast charging brick that's included, you can charge this machine from 0 to 100 percent in just 92 minutes. Even if you forget to do that, it has an astounding 70 days of standby battery. Knowing these specs, and adding to it the fact that I don't currently have a computer (long story), I couldn't help myself. So I ordered it, along with the OnePlus Pad 3 smart keyboard, with every intention of using it as my new full-time computer. And so far after about a week, it has worked near flawlessly – and in fact, way better than I expected. First thing I did was connect the Bluetooth keyboard and set the screen up horizontally. The display is actually even larger – and much brighter – than the one on the computer I'd been borrowing. The keyboard, by the way, is full sized and super easy to use. Plus it even has a dedicated Gemini AI key. But for my main needs – writing, checking email, web browsing, watching videos, exchanging files with editors via Dropbox, etc. – it's outstanding. Then I plugged my USB-C wireless mouse base into the power port of the Pad 3, and my mouse was instantly connected. My fingers are usually too clunky to use a trackpad, so I avoided using this one. In fact, I employed the dedicated keyboard key to disable it, so that my palm doesn't accidentally slide across the trackpad and cause on-screen issues. The mouse works great with it, by the way. At night, I've been pulling out the mouse base and using the USB-C port to recharge the Pad 3. After all, with its stellar battery life, I don't need to worry about that all day. In my testing so far. Using the Pad 3 all day only runs through about half the battery charge. And leaving it unattended overnight with the screen off dwindles the battery life by about 1 percent. Because I typically use Google Docs on a Chromebook, I had to make a couple of adjustments to the way I prefer doing things. First off, I'm used to working on my documents directly in the Chrome browser. But on the Pad 3, I can only access the files through Google Drive browser tab that way. Once I click to edit a document though, it automatically takes me into the dedicated Google Drive mobile app. It's not a huge deal, just an adjustment. In some ways, I actually like the mobile app better because of its built-in shortcuts and simplicity. The other adjustment to make was on the Chrome browser itself. On the Chromebook, you can preset a dedicated bookmarks bar. But the mobile version – the one native to the Pad 3 – doesn't have a bookmarks bar running at the top of the browser. You need to instead bring up a bookmarks menu. Again, it's a small thing to get used to. But on the browser itself, I can open up all of the tabs I need simultaneously – just as I typically do on a real Chromebook. Other than that, I've run into tiny but manageable workarounds that I can live with. Honestly, what I feared might be a severe compromise has turned into a better experience than working on my laptop, in many ways. And a great deal of this can be attributed to the actual machine – with its speed, fantastic display, responsiveness and general specs – in addition to the software. And the fact that I can also use it as, um, a tablet after work is icing on the cake. It's been fantastic to watch TV streaming on. And although it doesn't have a direct cellular connection, I just go into Google Voice on the browser and make phone calls directly from that. Works like a charm. I feel like OnePlus nailed it with this model. The Pad 3 sells for $699, the keyboard an additional $199.

The Pad 3's price falls between Apple's 11-inch ($599) and 13-inch ($799) iPad Air tablets. Android tablets have failed to make much of a dent in the US to Apple's tablet business. Samsung, Inc. and smaller players fill out the rest of the market. The Pad 3 is less than 6 millimeters thick and features a 13.2-inch display with a higher pixel density than the iPad Air, promising crisp text and other visuals. In a hands-on test, the tablet seemed sturdy even with its thin dimensions. The LCD screen falls short of the higher-quality OLED panels used in pricier top-of-the-line tablets from Apple and Samsung, but it renders colors well and is capable of high brightness levels. Additionally, the eight speakers produced robust sound. Android continues to offer fewer tablet-optimized apps than Apple's iPadOS, but by now many popular platforms and services are available for larger-format devices like this. OnePlus' updated Open Canvas multitasking system lets users drag and drop multiple apps into different zones and adjust how much space they each take up. The tablet automatically recommends entering split-screen mode if it detects you flicking between apps. OnePlus is also releasing updated accessories for the Pad 3, including a $200 keyboard with trackpad. The company's existing $100 stylus pen is also compatible with the new hardware. The $50 folio case is a highlight, with a versatile design that lets you position the tablet in several different orientations. Like the tablet, some of OnePlus' accessories are priced lower than Apple's equivalents: The iPad Air's keyboard is $269, though the Apple Pencil starts at $79. At $700, the Pad 3 is $150 more expensive than the company's previous tablet.
