Cyberjaya student murder: Three suspects arrested in Malaysia
Sepang police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman confirmed that a 19-year-old man and two women, aged 20, were detained in Johor Bahru and Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, within 48 hours of the case being reported.
'They are believed to be known to the victim,' he said in a statement today.
Authorities have sought a remand order at the Sepang Sessions Court to hold the suspects for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder.
The public has been urged to refrain from speculation or spreading unverified information that could disrupt the ongoing investigation.

SEGAMAT: Police are investigating an incident in which the Johor state flag was displayed upside down at a hotel here, sparking public uproar on social media. District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the incident was reported yesterday after a Facebook post showing the inverted flag at a hotel along Jalan Syed Abdul Kadir went viral. Five teenage girls to be charged for uttering threats to Zara Qairina
KUALA LUMPUR: Five teenage girls, who are expected to be charged this Wednesday in connection with the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, will face charges of issuing threats by using words deemed threatening in nature. Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, confirmed that all five, who are below 18, will be charged under Section 507c(1) of the Penal Code. Dusuki said the girls would be charged at the Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court, where proceedings are usually conducted behind closed doors. "Five people will be charged this Wednesday at the Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court, Sabah, for offences linked to the bullying case involving the late Zara Qairina. They are all under the age of 18," he said. Earlier today, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), in a statement, confirmed that it had reviewed the police investigation papers and decided to charge several individuals involved in the bullying case based on the available evidence. The A-GC said the decision to press charges for the bullying offence would not affect the inquest proceedings into the death of the 13-year-old student, which will be conducted in court. It stressed that despite the bullying charges being filed, police investigations into Zara Qairina's death would continue, including the inquest proceedings. Zara Qairina, a student of SMKA Tun Mustapha, was found unconscious at her school dormitory in Papar on July 16 and was pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Zara Qairina case: Five minors to be charged with bullying, says AG
KUALA LUMPUR: Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar says five teenagers will be charged in the Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court on Wednesday (Aug 20) in connection with the bullying case of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir. "Yes, all of those to be charged are under the age of 18," he said on Monday (Aug 18). He said all the teenagers involved would be charged under Section 507C(1) of the Penal Code, relating to the offence of using or making any threatening, abusive, or insulting words or communication. Earlier, the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) said in a statement that it had examined the investigation papers into Zara Qairina's death referred by the police and decided to charge several suspects involved based on the available evidence. "The decision to charge the suspects for the bullying offence was made as the charges will not interfere with the inquest proceedings that will take place," the statement said. The AGC stressed that the decision to charge the suspects for the bullying offence would not affect the ongoing investigation by the police, including the inquest proceedings to be conducted in court. During the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the investigation into the death of Zara Qairina, which centred on three elements - bullying, neglect and sexual harassment - had been submitted to the AGC after police completed recording statements from 195 witnesses. Meanwhile, the Kota Kinabalu Coroner's Court today set Sept 3 to commence the inquest proceedings into Zara Qairina's death. Coroner Azreena Aziz also fixed Sept 4, Sept 8 to 12, Sept 17 to 19 and Sept 22 to 30 for the inquest hearings. On Aug 12, the AGC decided to hold an inquest to determine the cause and circumstances of the death of the student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu Mustapha after reviewing the investigation report submitted by the police on the case. Zara Qairina, 13, died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu on July 17, after being found unconscious in a drain near the school dormitory on the morning of July 16 in Papar. – Bernama
