Georgia Grown cucumbers not impacted by recent recall, GA agriculture department says
The Georgia Department of Agriculture wants consumers to know that Georgia Grown cucumbers have not been affected by a recent recall.
Last week, Bedner Growers Inc., located in Florida, issued a voluntary recall after their cucumbers were linked to a multi-state Salmonella outbreak.
As of Friday, at least 26 people have gotten sick and nine have been hospitalized in 15 states.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper issued a statement Friday to reassure customers that Georgia Grown cucumbers are safe.
'As Georgians head to the stores ahead of the holiday weekend, you can and should have 100% confidence in that Georgia Grown cucumbers are safe and wholesome, and with the spring harvest in full swing, it is a great time to buy Georgia Grown,' Harper said.
The agriculture department's food safety division did receive reports that several retailers received Bednar Growers' recalled products.
The department is inspecting those locations.

Former GA middle school employee charged with sexual exploitation of children
Deputies have charged a former Georgia middle school employee with possessing child sexual abuse material. A K-9 team that specializes in finding electronic devices that store data assisted with the arrest. The Haralson County Sheriff's Office arrested Bradley Kingsley on Tuesday and charged him with felony sexual exploitation of children. Investigators tracked the IP address back to a house where they say Kingsley lived and got a warrant. The Murray County Sheriff's Office and its electronic storage detection K-9 team also searched the home. K-9 Maxim and his handler found nine hidden electronic storage devices in the home. The sheriff's office said Kingsley was a former Carroll County Schools employee. The district confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Kingsley once worked at Bay Springs Middle School. A spokesperson sent the following statement: 'The district learned of the arrest of a former employee. Although the individual has not been employed at Bay Springs Middle School since 2020, we are saddened to hear the news. Family mourns loss of ‘vibrant' woman killed in Western Mass. motorcycle crash
A family is mourning the loss of 'a vibrant and spirited' woman — Madisen Taylor — who lost her life in a car crash involving a motorcycle in Western Massachusetts over Memorial Day weekend. 'Madisen's loving and warm personality made a significant impact on the lives of those who knew her,' Taylor's obituary reads. 'She will be deeply missed.' Taylor died in a crash between a car and a motorcycle in Agawam in the early evening of Saturday, May 24. Agawam police responded to the crash at the intersection of Suffield Street and Adams Street shortly before 5:10 p.m. At the scene, officers found Taylor with severe injuries. Firefighters brought her to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where she later died. Taylor grew up in Ware and attended Pathfinder High School, her obituary states. Taylor's education helped her develop 'a passion for horticulture and gardening' as well as a 'deep appreciation for the beauty of nature.' She later moved to Agawam and started working in a dog daycare business. 'This career not only highlighted her nurturing nature but also her desire to bring happiness to the lives of others,' Taylor's obituary reads. 'Madisen's spirit was one of vibrant kindness; she had a smile that could light up a room and she gave the best hugs.' Outside of work, Taylor loved to sing and spend time outdoors, including at botanical gardens, the Quabbin Reservoir and the Swift River. The 26-year-old is survived by her parents, sister, fiancé, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Meanwhile Agawam and State Police and the Hampden County District Attorney's Office are investigating the crash. No further information has been released. Man accused of depositing check meant for GA county commissioners into personal account
A man was arrested after deputies said he stole a check and deposited it into his own account. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] In September 2024, Darrell Lee Powell, mobile depositing a check for $18,562.33 into his personal Fidelity account, deputies say. However, officials said, the check belonged to the Floyd County Board of Commissioners. According to Floyd County authorities, the check was somehow altered and made to be paid in the order of Powell.
