Bestow Closes $120 Million Oversubscribed Series D Funding, Co-Led by Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Smith Point Capital
Bestow tripled revenue in 2024, achieved 10x growth over two years, and expects to continue growing exponentially, with profitability on the horizon
DALLAS, May 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Bestow Inc., a leading insurance technology company, today announced the close of a $120 million oversubscribed Series D funding round, including primary and secondary investments. The round was co-led by Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Smith Point Capital. In addition to the equity financing, Bestow also secured a $50 million credit facility from TriplePoint Capital.
The capital will fund the development of new products and services and help accelerate the expansion of Bestow's platform in the life and annuities space. Bestow plans to increase its workforce to meet growing enterprise demand.
'This investment strengthens Bestow's position as the preferred partner for life insurance and annuity providers seeking to modernize and scale,' said Melbourne O'Banion, CEO and Co-founder of Bestow. 'We are accelerating product innovation to help the industry stay ahead of market trends, unlock new opportunities, and build lasting competitive advantages through technology. We are deeply grateful to our investors and carrier partners for their support and shared belief in our mission to modernize the life insurance and annuities space.'
As part of the investment, Ashwin Gupta, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, will join Bestow's board of directors. 'There is a growing need for a modern insurance technology platform that enables better solutions and outcomes for life and annuity carriers,' said Gupta. 'We believe Bestow has developed such a platform and is driving innovation in the industry. We are excited to invest in Bestow as they continue to expand their capabilities and reimagine the future of insurance technology.'
'The life insurance industry has remained virtually untouched by innovation for three decades,' said Keith Block, Founder and CEO of Smith Point Capital. 'Bestow isn't just offering another tech tool—they're fundamentally transforming how insurers create and deliver products at the very core of their business operations. Their impressive enterprise customer roster, unprecedented for such a young company in this traditionally risk-averse market, demonstrates that Bestow has identified a truly mission-critical opportunity. Smith Point Capital is incredibly proud to not only invest in Bestow to help them accelerate their growth, but also partner with them as they redefine the industry.'
This funding milestone follows Bestow's 2024 divestiture of Bestow Life Insurance Company, a direct-to-consumer life insurance carrier, to Sammons Financial Group, marking a strategic shift to focus exclusively on enterprises through its vertical software platform, purpose-built for the entire life insurance value chain.
Today, Bestow partners with industry leaders, including Nationwide, Transamerica, USAA, Sammons Financial Groups, among others, and will be announcing additional partners in the coming months. The company continues to boast a 100% customer retention rate and has achieved a 245% year-over-year increase in transaction volume. The Series D round caps a period of strong growth for Bestow, and the company expects this growth to continue exponentially.

Plamondon Hospitality Partners Finalizes Key Land Acquisition in Downtown Frederick
Land purchase sets stage for upcoming hotel groundbreaking in Frederick, Maryland FREDERICK, Md., June 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Plamondon Hospitality Partners is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of a critical parcel of land in Downtown Frederick, Maryland, marking a transformative step forward in realizing the vision for their full-service hotel and conference center. Finalized on June 12, the acquisition positions the Frederick-based hospitality group to break ground on the project later this year and solidifies the company's commitment to bringing new energy, economic vitality, and hospitality excellence to the heart of Frederick. "Now that we've secured ownership of the site, we can take full control of the next phase," said Peter Plamondon, Jr., Co-President of Plamondon Hospitality Partners. "This purchase represents more than just land—it's the final piece needed to move from planning into action. We're grateful to the Randall family for their meaningful support in helping get us to this point." Previously owned by the Randall family, the land is part of a larger site identified in 2012 through a competitive RFP issued by the City of Frederick for a public-private hotel and conference center. Since then, the project has progressed through an oftentimes complex and collaborative process involving local and state officials. "Owning the land unlocks the next critical milestone: groundbreaking," said Jeff Plamondon, Director of Real Estate and Business Development at Plamondon Hospitality Partners. "We're deeply grateful to our State, County, and City partners involved for their unwavering belief in what this hotel and conference center will mean for the region." While the full site plan includes restoration of the Trolley Building and repurposing of the Eagles Building, Plamondon's land purchase does not include those structures, both of which are owned and managed separately by the Randall family. Once a trolley station, the building at 200 E Patrick Street is being redeveloped as a mixed-use commercial space, with completion expected in 2026. Meanwhile, 216 E Patrick Street—the former home of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles—will become The Banyan, a new restaurant, event venue, and rooftop bar. The newly acquired land surrounding these sites will house the hotel and conference center footprint, making them integral to the broader redevelopment vision. "The Randall family has owned portions of the property at 200 E Patrick Street for 208 years. We are thrilled that this property can now be a part of such an exciting redevelopment project. Plamondon Hospitality Partners and my family are working closely with public officials across all levels to ensure this project lives up to its potential and contributes to the ongoing growth and evolution of Downtown Frederick," said William Randall, President of Randall CAP. The future hotel and conference center will fill a long-recognized gap in Frederick's hospitality and event infrastructure by offering much-needed, high-quality space for conferences, weddings, conventions, and corporate gatherings—all with on-site overnight accommodations. "This is about bringing something to Frederick that doesn't exist today," said Peter Plamondon. "The hotel and conference center will have a meaningful impact on the city, county, and region—which is exactly why leaders at every level have chosen to invest in the project. Ownership of the land removes the last major hurdle from a process standpoint and puts us in a position to bring this shared vision to life." About Plamondon Hospitality PartnersPlamondon Hospitality Partners is a family-owned hotel management and development company headquartered in Frederick, Maryland. With a growing portfolio of award-winning hotels across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, the company is recognized for its commitment to community, employee development, and high-quality guest experiences.
