Taiwan accuses China of endangering aviation safety with illegal flight corridor
According to Focus Taiwan, China announced on Sunday the opening of the northwest-to-southeast W121 route, linking Dongshan in Zhejiang Province to the M503 flight path in the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) immediately criticized the move as provocative, warning it undermines aviation safety and regional stability.
Taiwan's Civil Aviation Administration echoed MAC's concerns, describing the decision as 'regrettable' and vowing to monitor the situation to ensure flight safety. The agency stressed that China's failure to coordinate with Taiwan on such a significant adjustment violates ICAO standards, which mandate prior consultation with affected parties.
As per Taipei Times, this is not the first time China has acted unilaterally, citing previous route launches like W122 and W123, which were introduced alongside the eastward shift of the M503 in early 2024. Countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, Sweden, and the Netherlands had previously expressed concern over similar actions by Beijing.
Focus Taiwan noted that Taiwan will again leverage the upcoming 42nd ICAO Assembly in Montreal to challenge Beijing's actions and press for greater inclusion in international aviation forums.
Despite protests, W122 and W123 remain active, underscoring that diplomatic pressure alone may not be enough to compel Beijing to comply with ICAO norms.
Taiwan, which last attended an ICAO assembly in 2013, remains excluded due to pressure from Beijing. The government reiterated its call to be included in ICAO to help safeguard global aviation safety.
Taiwanese authorities emphasized that exclusion from ICAO not only marginalizes Taiwan but also undermines global aviation safety by leaving a critical player out of essential coordination.
As China continues to bypass established norms, Taipei warned that unchecked unilateral actions could escalate regional instability. Taiwan reaffirmed its commitment to working with international partners to uphold safety, transparency, and rule-based order in the skies. (ANI)

Addressing international media at a press conference, Sa'ar said, 'Hamas and Islamic Jihad are using the starvation and torture of hostages as part of a deliberate and well-planned sadistic propaganda campaign. He drew comparisons between Hamas and notorious groups, stating, 'On October 7th - and since then - Hamas has committed evil crimes like the Nazis and ISIS did.' 'There are still 50 hostages cruelly being held in the dungeons of Gaza,' the minister added, criticising the absence of international oversight. 'We see the dire condition of our starved hostages - yet they still have not seen representatives of the Red Cross, despite this being explicitly agreed upon.' He further alleged that the starvation campaign was being manipulated for media purposes. 'These organisations also planned the starvation campaign of lies together. The amount of aid entering proves that it is a fake propaganda campaign.' Sa'ar warned that hostage-taking is being used as a strategic tool by terror groups to ensure their survival. 'Terror states and organisations kidnap civilians in order to ensure their own survival and interests. Innocent civilians are inhumanely used as tools by terrorists to achieve their goals. In the case of Hamas - to force upon us their conditions: Remaining in power in Gaza.' Labelling the situation as a global threat, Sa'ar said, 'This is a dangerous phenomenon that could happen tomorrow anywhere. "We will pay as low as the lowest nation in the world," Trump on Most Favoured Nation drug pricing plan
Washington DC [US], August 4 (ANI): US President Donald Trump while speaking to reporters on Sunday (local time), said that he aimed to lower the prices of pharmaceutical drugs with the Most Favoured Nation prescription drug pricing plan. Trump said before boarding Air Force One in Allentown, Pennsylvania that the US will pay the lowest price just like other European nations do. 'We want the same price as Europe gets. We want the same price as other countries get ... We will pay as low as the lowest nation in the world. The next big move is going to be the price of drugs because you could buy something in London or in Germany some place... sometimes 1/10th the price of what it costs to buy it in New York... We're not doing that anymore,' he said. Trump is increasing pressure on major drugmakers to bring their US prices in line with the far lower ones available to patients in other countries. However, industry experts don't expect the pharmaceutical companies to comply, CNN reported. Earlier on Thursday, Trump sent letters to 17 major pharmaceutical company CEOs on with a list of demands, including that the manufacturers extend 'Most Favored Nation' pricing, the lowest price paid for a drug in a peer country, to all drugs provided to Medicaid enrollees. The US president gave the companies 60 days to comply. The directive stems from an executive order Trump signed in May, when he demanded drugmakers start offering US patients lower prices or face consequences. Meanwhile the US President continued to bat for the tariff policy saying that it would bring down debt. 'We're going to pay down debt. We have a lot of money coming in, much more money than the country's ever seen, by hundreds of billions of dollars... we should've done this many years ago,' he said. (ANI)
