Cyberattack detected at Polish space agency, minister says
WARSAW, March 2 (Reuters) - Polish cybersecurity services have detected unauthorized access to the Polish Space Agency's (POLSA) IT infrastructure, Minister for Digitalisation Krzysztof Gawkowski said on Sunday.
"In connection with the incident, the systems under attack were secured ... Intensive operational activities are also underway to identify who is behind the cyberattack," Gawkowski wrote on social media platform X.
Warsaw has repeatedly accused Moscow of attempting to destabilise Poland because of its role in supplying military aid to its neighbour Ukraine, allegations Russia has dismissed.
The agency confirmed to news agency PAP that a cybersecurity incident had occurred. The situation is being analysed, and in order to secure data, the POLSA network was immediately disconnected from the Internet, it told PAP.

Brazil's fiscal package to include higher tax on interest on equity
BRASILIA, June 10 (Reuters) - Brazil's Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Tuesday that the government's new fiscal package includes an increase in the income tax rate levied on so-called interest on equity (JCP) payments to 20% from 15%. JCP is a form of shareholder remuneration that allows companies to deduct such payments from their corporate tax base. Speaking to reporters, Haddad said that the decision to include the measure - previously proposed by the government but not voted on by Congress - came at the request of lawmakers. Haddad also confirmed that the fiscal package includes the unification of income tax rates on financial investments at 17.5%, replacing the current sliding scale of 15% to 22.5%, which varies according to the investment's holding period. The new rate would apply to all investments, including stocks and bonds, except those currently exempt from income levy, which would begin to be taxed at 5%, as Haddad had already disclosed on Sunday. The minister, who spoke after returning from a meeting with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, said the additional revenue generated by the package would be used primarily to revise the previously imposed financial operation tax (IOF) hike on forfait operations. The IOF decree, which had been introduced to boost public revenues and also raised the tax on private pension funds and some credit and foreign exchange transactions, triggered strong pushback from both Congress and market players, prompting the government to seek an alternative path as lawmakers threatened to overturn the measure. Haddad defended the new fiscal measures on Tuesday, arguing that they are likely to support the strengthening of the Brazilian currency, pave the way for interest rate cuts, and help ensure compliance with this year's and 2026 fiscal targets.

Trump plans to keep Starlink at the White House operational despite rift with Musk
President Donald Trump said he would maintain the White House 's operational ties to Starlink, the high-speed internet service owned by Musk's company SpaceX, despite their recent falling out. Speaking with reporters on Monday, the president was asked if he would split from the physical impact of Musk – such as getting rid the Tesla Model S that he purchased from Musk in March or Starlink technologies. 'I may move the Tesla around a little bit, but I don't think we'll be doing that with Starlink. It's a good service,' Trump told reporters on Monday. The president's comment arrives after he threatened to pull government contracts with Musk's companies, which are not only lucrative for the tech mogul but some are essential for the government – such as Starlink. Starlink provides quick internet access without the need for fiber cables or cellular towers by using low Earth orbiting satellites. When deployed, the satellites send signals to systems on the ground, providing internet access. A database of government contracts indicates the U.S. engaged in $4.1 million in contracts for Starlink in 2022, $1.9 million in 2023, less than $500,000 in 2024, and $22,000 as of June 2025. At least six federal agencies have active contracts with SpaceX for Starlink technologies. That includes the the Department of Defense, which has come to rely heavily on Starlink's services, according to NPR. When Musk began working as a senior adviser and head of the Department of Government Efficiency for the Trump administration, he reportedly deployed, or suggested deploying, Starlink technologies at the White House and other agencies. The General Services Administration considered using Starlink for internet access at the request of Musk's staff, NBC News reported. The Federal Aviaition Administraiton has begun testing Starlink technologies at several 'non safety' sites after Musk criticized the FAA's potential contract with Verizon, according to CNN. Tim Farrar, the president of the consulting company Telecom, Media and Finance Associates, Inc., told NPR that it would be tough for the government to move away from Starlink because other telecom companies are finding it 'very difficult' to catch up to it's abilities. Starlink has been instrumental in allowing people in rural areas to obtain internet access and helpful for militaries engaged in battle – the most prominent example being the Ukrainian army's use of Starlink to help fight against Russia's full-scale invasion.

Musk's Starlink plans satellite link in Switzerland, government says
June 10 (Reuters) - Elon Musk's internet service Starlink has made an application to operate a satellite connection in southwestern Switzerland, the Swiss office of communications (BAKOM) said on Tuesday. Newspaper Le Nouvelliste reported that the satellite provider had submitted an application to the Swiss government, planning 40 antennas in the municipality of Leuk. BAKOM said the firm's application had been made earlier this summer. The potential timing and content of any licence is still to be determined, a spokesperson for BAKOM told Reuters, saying that the authority was in touch with Starlink.
