UK-based broker Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has agreed to acquire compatriot City Quarter Brokers for an undisclosed sum.
City Quarter Brokers, known for its work with 'complex and technical risks' in the construction, engineering and infrastructure sector, will join SRG's Wholesale division.
This division already has other specialist brands, namely Miles Smith, CBC Partnership, SRI and TUE, in its portfolio.
The latest acquisition is expected to enhance SRG's service offerings in the placement of complex risk.
Specialist Risk Group group deputy CEO Lee Anderson said: 'We are thrilled to welcome City Quarter Brokers to SRG. Their strong technical expertise in construction and engineering, combined with a global outlook and a dedication to broker service, is completely aligned with our values.
'As we continue to build out our wholesale platform, City Quarter Brokers represents the kind of deep specialism that makes a real difference to brokers and clients navigating complex risk.'
City Quarter Brokers CEO Rob Walton stated: 'We have built a strong reputation for delivering tailored solutions on technically challenging risks, and SRG's platform will enable us to expand our reach while staying true to our specialist ethos. Together we look forward to unlocking opportunities while preserving the qualities our clients value most.'
Last month, SRG purchased Generation Underwriting from WF Risk Group.
Generation Underwriting, which collaborates with brokers serving small to medium-sized enterprises and the mid-market, provides a variety of insurance products such as commercial combined, property owners, fleet and contractors all risks.
With this addition, SRG expanded its resources, benefitting from improved data analytics and wider distribution networks.
"Specialist Risk Group buys City Quarter Brokers " was originally created and published by Life Insurance International, a GlobalData owned brand.

JOST Werke SE (XTER:JST) Q2 2025 Earnings Call Highlights: Strong Sales Growth Amid Market ...

Release Date: August 14, 2025 For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. Positive Points JOST Werke SE (XTER:JST) reported a 31% increase in sales for Q2 2025, driven by mergers and acquisitions, despite challenging global markets. The integration of the Huba acquisition is on track, with initial synergies being realized, contributing positively to the company's performance. The company successfully placed a promissory note loan of 320 million euros under attractive conditions, strengthening its financial position. Market share gains were achieved in the agriculture sector in the APEC region and South America, supported by new long-term contracts with agricultural OEMs. The adjusted EBIT grew by 10% to 37 million euros, with an adjusted EBIT margin of 9.5%, indicating solid operational performance. Negative Points Organic sales declined by 3% compared to Q2 2024, indicating challenges in maintaining growth without acquisitions. Free cash flow declined to 5 million euros due to higher working capital requirements, impacting liquidity. The leverage ratio increased to 2.78, temporarily above the target threshold of 2.5%, due to dividend payments. The North American market contracted significantly due to uncertainties related to tariffs and economic policies, affecting overall performance. The equity ratio decreased to 21.3%, impacted by the devaluation of the USD against the euro and the financing of acquisitions. Q & A Highlights Warning! GuruFocus has detected 9 Warning Signs with XTER:JST. Q: Can you provide more details on the long-term contracts in agriculture and their potential contribution? A: The strategy to be a global tier one supplier for agricultural groups like CNH, AGCO, and John Deere is confirmed by these contracts. While specific numbers for next year aren't shared, the contracts are expected to contribute a low double-digit million amount once fully active. The agricultural business is on a good growth path due to these contracts and market recovery. (CEO) Q: Could you elaborate on the contribution of HiA to adjusted EBIT and the impact of synergies? A: The adjusted EBIT margin for HiA is running between 7% and 8% after excluding the cranes business. Synergies are beginning to be realized, with a run rate of approximately EUR 45 million expected for 2025. (CFO) Q: How is the aftermarket business performing, particularly in North America? A: The aftermarket business contributed over 30% to the group's performance, with North America seeing months where it reached close to 40%. This strong aftermarket performance is helping stabilize margins despite market challenges. (CFO) Q: What is the outlook for North America in the second half of the year? A: The second half is expected to be similar to the first half, with stable but low levels of business. While customer production rates may slightly decline, the overall environment is expected to stabilize. (CEO) Q: Can you provide insights into the disposal of the cranes business and its financial implications? A: The cranes business was sold free of debt for a low double-digit euro amount, with a portion of the sale price subject to earnouts. This disposal allows the company to focus on core businesses and realize synergies from recent acquisitions. Les Amis, the European app helping women form friendships, launches in New York

Making friends as an adult can be tough, especially after moving to a new city. Luckily, modern technology exists, and more people are turning to apps like Bumble For Friends, Flox, and Timeleft to form new friendships quickly. One app called Les Amis aims to stand out by targeting women, transgender, and LGBTQ+ individuals, primarily in the mid-20s to early 40s age demographic. Les Amis uses AI to pair users with similar interests and encourages them to join local events offered within the app, such as pottery classes, book clubs, wine tastings, and pilates. Anna Bilych (ex-PayPal) created the app in 2022 alongside her co-founder, Oleg Pashinin (ex-Google AI), after struggling to rebuild her social circle after relocating. Now the European-founded app is currently rolling out to U.S. markets. It launched in New York earlier this month. Les Amis (the French word for 'friends') is designed to make it easy for users to connect with like-minded individuals in their area. It features a setup similar to dating apps, where users create profiles by selecting profile photos, writing a bio, and choosing from a list of interests, which include poetry, gardening, yoga, martial arts, and more. The app includes an AI assistant named 'Amis,' which aids in the matching process. Every two weeks, users can participate in matching rounds where the AI connects them with a potential friend based on shared interests. It also connects them to others in similar life stages—whether they're single, married, a mother, new to town, or even looking to network with someone in a comparable career field. The AI determines matches on Mondays, giving users ample time to chat and coordinate meetups later in the week. Additionally, the app features an explore page for users to sign up for local events and experiences, such as workshops, social gatherings, and recreational activities. It also recently launched 'Trips,' where users can travel in groups to destinations like Morocco, Iceland, and the Amalfi Coast. The app operates on a membership-based business model, with fees that vary by city. For example, the monthly fee is $70 in New York and €55 in Amsterdam. The membership includes a flexible credit system to spend toward experiences, which can be spent in any city where Les Amis is available, enabling members to attend events while traveling. Les Amis is available on iOS and Android devices across Europe, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Stockholm. As for U.S. markets, the app was introduced in Austin last May, in addition to New York. Les Amis plans to expand to Boston next, followed by Washington, D.C., next month, and Miami in October. A launch in Los Angeles is also on the roadmap. It's important to note that there are currently no Les Amis events happening in New York, but they will soon launch on August 25. The app is still in the application acceptance phase and has received over 2,000 applications from users in New York. In total, the app touts about 120,000 installs, and around 30,000 women have attended events to date. The company also reports that it has recently reached an annual run rate of $1 million.
