Telangana man kills woman for jewellery, cash to fuel online betting obsession
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Telangana's Sangareddy for allegedly murdering a woman to steal her ornaments and cash to fund his habit of online cricket betting.According to police, the accused, Prashanth, was heavily addicted to online betting games and, being short of money, targeted Ranemma, 48, who lived alone in the village. The incident occurred on May 25.advertisementA police probe was launched following a complaint from Ranemma's son. Based on circumstantial and technical evidence, the investigation team narrowed down on Prashanth and took him into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder and theft.
Police have recovered approximately 69.96 grams of gold jewellery and Rs 2,720 in cash based on his confession, in the presence of witnesses.Prashanth was produced before the court on Saturday and has been remanded to judicial custody.Must Watch

AIIMS student,intern among 3 held for RajNEET fraud
Jaipur: A final-year MBBS student of AIIMS Jodhpur and a medical intern from Bharatpur were among three persons arrested Friday for alleged involvement in a dummy candidate racket in NEET-UG 2020 exam, police said. Ajit has completed his MBBS and is interning at Shri Jagannath Pahadia Medical College, Bharatpur, while Saini is posted as a community health officer in Jaipur. All three are residents of Jaipur's Chomu. Sachin allegedly paid Rs 60 lakh to Saini to arrange the impersonation. Saini was previously arrested in a 2013 exam fraud of Rs 65 lakh. Kumar said a case was registered after it emerged that Ajit may have appeared in NEET 2020 in place of Sachin. Sachin's admit card featured Ajit's photograph, and the impersonation helped Sachin to score 667 marks and secure an All-India Rank of 1,443 — good enough for admission to AIIMS Jodhpur. "Ajit had cleared NEET in 2019 after eight years of preparation. Ironically, while he had struggled with backlogs during his MBBS, Sachin, who never took the exam himself, is performing well at AIIMS," DCP Kumar said. The investigators are ascertaining if it was Ajit or someone else who had appeared on behalf of Sachin in the test, Kumar said. Saini, an ayurvedic doctor, allegedly used forged documents and his contacts to facilitate the fraud. The investigators have sought records from National Testing Agency (NTA) — which conducts NEET — AIIMS Jodhpur and Pahadia Medical College. Their plans were foiled by a police raid. "Saini is a habitual offender. We suspect there's a major cheating racket in Chomu given this is the second time in 30 days that we busted another NEET fraud," said an officer.

2 convicted to 5 years in 68cr bank fraud case
Mumbai: A magistrate's court on Thursday convicted and sentenced two men, Raza Naqvi (38) and Varun Rana (41), to five years of rigorous imprisonment for their involvement in a sophisticated financial fraud amounting to Rs 68.22 crore against Shinhan Bank in 2020. Naqvi and Rana were found guilty of flouting norms by sending Rs 68 crore in two months to companies in the US and Singapore. The fraudulent scheme involved crediting significant amounts into accounts in Mumbai (M/s ID Technologies Private Limited) and Delhi (M/s Liqus Tradex Private Limited). Instructions were then given to immediately remit equivalent sums in foreign currency, primarily to Singapore and the US. The fraud, which took place between Sept and Dec 2020, came to light after Shinhan Bank's New Delhi branch received a notice from the Cyber Cell, Odisha Police, regarding suspicious activities in M/s Liqus Tradex Pvt Ltd's account. This prompted an internal inquiry by the bank's Compliance Department, which uncovered high-volume, high-value domestic transactions inconsistent with the account holder's profile. While another accused, Sumit Verma, was acquitted, two others, Anuj Kumar Chand and Sunita Devi, remain absconding. Public prosecutor Pravina Patil argued that it is a white-collar crime and had a significant effect on society. In a 60-page judgment, the magistrate stated that evidence from prosecution witnesses established that Raza Naqvi appeared before Shinhan Bank officials and participated in the account opening process of M/s ID Technologies Pvt Ltd by falsely identifying himself as Santosh Kumar. "Subsequently, this account was used to carry out large-scale foreign remittances amounting to Rs 68 crore, based on documents and representation believed to be genuine by bank officials. ..," additional chief judicial magistrate RD Chavan said. "12 naxals with total bounty of over Rs 1 crore surrendered today": Maharashtra CM Fadnavis
Gadchiroli (Maharashtra) [India], June 6 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Friday that around 12 naxals, having a total bounty of over Rs one crore, surrendered before him in Gadhchiroli. Speaking with the media, CM Fadnavis urged the Naxals to surrender, adding that if they don't, then action will be taken against them. 'Today, around 12 naxals with a total bounty of over Rs 1 crore surrendered before me here. This is a big blow to Naxalism. The Naxals want to join the mainstream now. I believe this is a significant incident. There are very few Naxals left in the state today. I urge them to surrender. If they do not surrender, then action will be taken against them,' the Maharashtra CM said. According to a press note from the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli, a total of 704 active Maoists till date have surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police. It mentioned the 12 Maoists who surrendered today. 'Today, twelve Senior Maoist Cadre Sapana (55), Ramdas (55), Shivlal (60), Pushpa (55), Kosa Kumma Gota (Commander of Kutul LOS) aged 35 years, Durgi (35), Ajay (27), Sangita (40), Savita (35), Anju (25), Aruna (30) and Dilip (28) have surrendered before the Chief Minister,' the release stated. The release also mentioned the rewards announced by the Centre and Maharashtra government for the surrendered Naxals.'After surrender, Sapana, Ramdas, Shivlal, and Pushpa will receive Rs 8.5 Lakhs as reward declared by the Central & Maharashtra Government for rehabilitation,' the release stated. Kosa Kumma Gota will receive Rs. 5.5 Lakhs, Durgi and Ajay receive Rs 05 Lakhs, while Sangita, Savita, Anju and Aruna will receive Rs 4.5 lakhs. Dilip will receive Rs 5 lakhs as reward for rehabilitation. 'State government has announced a reward of Rs. 1.5 lakhs as additional assistance to Maoist members who are husband and wife for their surrender.
