Red Bull's Marko: Vettel's return 'not on the cards' for now
"The succession plan is something that is of course on the table, but there are no concrete names and no concrete talks," Marko told Sky TV on Friday at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Earlier this week, Vettel revealed that he was in early talks with his former team and Marko about the idea of succeeding the 82-year-old Austrian when his contract with the team ends in 2026.
"We're in contact about this, though maybe not so intensively or in-depth yet, but it's possible," Vettel told Austrian broadcasters ORF.
"What form that might take will have to be seen. He's already said a few times that he'd stop, but he's still here, and I wish him all the best so that he stays around for a very long time."
Marko has been involved with Red Bull since the team's beginnings in 2005. He has previously described Vettel as the "ideal candidate" to replace him.

Vettel won his four F1 titles with Red Bull between 2010 and 2013 before moving to Ferrari in 2015, where he stayed until 2020. The German driver retired in 2022 after two years with Aston Martin.
Since then, the father of three has been particularly committed to diversity and sustainability projects.

Liga MX's most successful club in history has won three of the league's last four titles. Henry Martin is a reliable goalscorer, Alvaro Fidalgo is the key cog in the midfield, and Luis Malagon is among the best keepers in CONCACAF. Despite their continual disappointment in Liga MX play, La Maquina are among the deepest squads around. They'll ride the momentum of winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup in May. Kevin Mier is an outstanding keeper, Ángel Sepulvada has been a goal-producing machine over the past year. This is a deep squad that recently finished competing at the Club World Cup and normally performs better in international competition than in the league. Living legend Sergio Ramos commands the backline, midfielder Sergio Canales is one of the best playmakers in the league, and German Berterame has a nose for the ball. Tigres have been a model of consistency and success for a while now, so don't expect them to bow down in a tournament setting. Angel Correa's summer arrival from Atlético Madrid continues the team's trend of signing quality players. Plenty of depth, even if André-Pierre Gignac and Uriel Antuna are likely to not play due to injuries. The team that broke Club America's quest for a Liga MX four-peat, the reigning Liga MX champions are riding high behind star striker Paulinho, who finished the Clausura season with 13 goals and won the league's Balon d'Or award. Alexis Vega, who led the league in assists, has also been instrumental to Los Diablos Rojos' recent success. One of Liga MX's most pedigreed sides, this is a dark-horse candidate and worth taking a flyer. They've stayed busy this summer with signings and could be poised to make a splash despite a slow start to the season. Aaron Ramsey? Keylor Navas? Why not? Evander is making a strong MVP case (15 goals this season) and FCC have been steadily climbing up the league standings. The absence of Kevin Denkey from the midfield due to injury puts a damper on things, but Miles Robinson in defense can help stem Liga MX attacks. Columbus Crew The pending arrival of forward Wessam Abou Ali will boost the attack, but it remains to be seen if the Club World Cup standout will find his rhythm in time for the tournament. The opportunity to repeat as Leagues Cup champions and further fill out the trophy cabinet should motivate one of MLS' better teams this season. It was at this tournament that Lionel Messi claimed Miami's first ever trophy two years ago. The addition of Rodrigo de Paul will inject further championship experience in this team that has no shortage of battle-hardened players. Playing against Liga MX teams provides a great barometer for Messi and Co., and expect them to make a deep run. On paper, LAFC has one of the better squads and definitely knows how to play in tournament settings. But an injury to defender Aaron Long will certainly test this backline even with Hugo Lloris in goal. Denis Bounaga, on pace for a third straight season with 20+ goals, will be the focal point attack and has elite playmaking skills. Can the first-year side win this trophy? They remained near or atop the West standings all season long and will use that momentum going into the tourney. Chucky Lozano grabs the attention but its Danish midfielder Anders Dreyer has been the revelation. He has 11 goals and leads MLS with 16 assists. QuarterfinalsAmérica over ColumbusToluca over LAFCMonterrey over San DiegoInter Miami over Cruz Azul Three Liga MX teams will advance out of the quarterfinals, with Messi's Miami side the sole representative from MLS. Much like in CONCACAF Champions Cup play, the depth and experience will give the Liga MX teams a slight edge. Miami wins in a hard fought battle to reach another final. Meanwhile, Club America get some revenge on Toluca, who spoiled their four-peat chances earlier in the summer. Barcelona release statement following Marc-Andre ter Stegen surgery
Barcelona have confirmed that captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen has undergone surgery for a recurring back problem. There is plenty of intrigue surrounding his diagnosis, given the length of his injury could have a major impact on Barcelona's ability to register new players in the coming month. The German goalkeeper announced the decision last week, explaining that he would be out for three months, one month short of the required four-month period for Barcelona to activate La Liga's injury rule. There are several ways to buy a new car, from purchasing one outright with cash to financing it through a car loan. Now, however, a provision in the recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) provides a little tax incentive for anyone thinking of financing a car through 2028. What the Provision Says Effective immediately (and retroactively through 2025), for any car purchased between 2025 and 2028, you may deduct interest paid on a loan of a 'qualified vehicle' so long as the vehicle is for personal use. A qualified vehicle, according to the IRS page, 'is a car, minivan, van, SUV, pick-up truck or motorcycle, with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 14,000 pounds.' This only applies to new vehicles, so used car buyers will have to find other ways to justify their purchases. Learn More: Focus on American Made For lovers of Japanese, German and other overseas carmakers, there won't be as much tax incentive for you. Ruth Calkins, auto expert and general manager at Findbyplate, pointed out that 'The OBBB limits its tax deductions to American assembled new vehicles alone, and does not include a provision for used vehicles, much less those assembled outside America.' While there's a lot of gray area around whether a car has been fully made or assembled in the U.S., you'll be able to get this answer through your car's vehicle identification number (VIN). However, unlike the clean vehicle tax credit that only covers electric vehicles (EVs), the OBBB vehicle loan deduction is more inclusive and accommodating of both internal combustion engine vehicles and EVs, Calkins said. And, since that EV credit is going to be phased out after Sept. 30, 2025, this might be a good way to get a bit of a break. Be Aware of Income Limitations While there is a limit on how much interest you can deduct, 'as long as the vehicle satisfies the eligibility requirements, the vehicle qualifies for the tax deduction,' Calkins said. Apart from the loan origination date, Calkins said, 'another caveat that buyers should take note of before daydreaming about all the things they could do with this tax break come next taxing season, is the income limitation.' Additionally, given that the deduction only extends to individual consumers with a modified adjusted gross income (AGI) of $100,000 or less, and $200,000 for those filing jointly, many people will not qualify for this deduction. Itemizers Only There's one more caveat, Black said. 'You will have to itemize your deductions in order for you to claim it, something not everyone does anymore since the standard deduction went up.' So, if you normally take the standard, this may not help you. What If You Bought a Car This Year Already? If you already took out a loan on an otherwise qualifying vehicle and you're wondering if you're eligible based on purchase date, the key is simple: If you purchased it in 2025, you can still qualify for the deduction. 'However, if you are already in a car loan [from 2024 or earlier], sorry — no discount for you,' Black said. How Much Can You Save? How much you can save will depend on how much you borrow and your interest rate, Black said. However, it is worth noting that the average person taking advantage of this tax break isn't going to spend anywhere close to $10,000 in auto loan interest in a year. According to car website Edmunds, you'd have to take out an auto loan of around $112,000, which is more than double the average price of a new vehicle, to even pay that much in annual interest. Let's say you did take out a $25,000 loan at 7% interest, Black said 'You'll pay roughly $1,750 in interest in year one. If you're in the 22% tax bracket, you might get nearly $400 off your tax bill. Not bad.' Overall Impact on Auto Buyers? Black suggested the tax credit may make more people choose buying over leasing and it can also soften the blow of rising interest rates a bit. 'It won't make a significant impact, though, but it could very well decide for price-conscious buyers.'
