'I feel truly blessed!' Aaron Paul joins psychological thriller The Midnight Pool
Aaron Paul is to star in psychological thriller 'The Midnight Pool'.
The 'Breaking Bad' actor is to portray jaded journalist Johnny Black, who is "lured into the shadows of an elite, exclusive society" following a personal tragedy.
Paul admitted the story "stayed with [him]" long after he had read the script for James McTeigue's forthcoming film.
He is quoted by Variety as saying: "The moment 'Midnight Pool' landed on my desk I knew I had to sit down with James.
"The world created by Jonathan Easley really stayed with me long after I put the script down."
Paul told how he and McTeigue spoke "for hours" about filmmaking in his backyard, and he feels "truly blessed" to be a part of the movie.
He added: "The idea of James holding the reins to tell this story got me extremely excited to tackle this world with him.
"We sat down in my backyard and spoke for hours about the love of filmmaking.
"After that meeting it was very clear we both wanted to lean in.
"I am such a huge admirer of James and I feel truly blessed to be on this journey with him and the rest of the team."
McTeigue believes Paul joining the cast has turned the film into "something truly special".
He said: "'The Midnight Pool' felt like the culmination of my career - a gripping psychological drama with mind-bending visuals and action.
"When Aaron Paul agreed to play Johnny Black, I knew we had something truly special.
McTeigue will also produce the movie alongside the likes of Jason Tamasco, Zak Kristofek, Ford Corbett and Nathan Klingher.
Kristofek said: "Jason and I couldn't be more thrilled to bring to life with the extraordinary talents of James McTeigue and Aaron Paul.
"James' sharp eye for tension and psychological depth, combined with Aaron's magnetic intensity, makes this an exceptionally exciting collaboration.

Mason Eways, Keith Danko, Joshua Harris, Mark Fasano, Brandon Burrows, Nat McCormick, and Danny Gusman will executive produce 'The Midnight Pool'.

Mia Goth has joined the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter. Levy has been working on the movie with Lucasfilm since 2022. Character and plot details remain unknown but last year, Levy said he is not planning to connect his work to any other films or TV shows in the long-running series. Speaking on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, he said: "I'll say that the experience of crafting this story has forced me to think about that question. Because there's only so many times that 'Star Wars' movies can revisit the same section of the timeline, and so it's really forced me, because I don't want to do a 'Star Wars' movie that is redundant to others, nor am I interested in doing one that has to serve another movie." The filmmaker - who has teamed up with his The Adam Project co-writer Tropper on the project - added he was making the flick with "tone and characters" at the forefront. He said: "I really wanted to craft something that felt organic to me, both in tone and characters, so I think that there is certainly the Force and a connection to something bigger than our individual selves. "And the way that that can make us powerful, those themes, combined with visual delight and wish fulfilment, that's Star Wars to me."

Seth Rogen calls directing Martin Scorsese the 'worst thing in the world'
Seth Rogen has admitted directing Martin Scorsese in The Studio was the "worst thing in the world". The actor stars in and directs the Apple TV Plus series in which he plays the head of a movie studio and it's featured cameos from industry titans including Goodfellas director Scorsese, Ron Howard, Anthony Mackie, Zoe Kravitz, Olivia Wilde and Zac Efron - and Rogen has now admitted he was "nervous" working with big name stars on his project. In an interview with Jason Segel for Variety, Rogen explained: " I'd say half of them [the cameos] were people I didn't know at all. We wanted people you haven't seen us with before. "Martin Scorsese, we just sent it to his manager. I'd met Zoe Kravitz once or twice. I met a lot of these people in passing. I'm sure you have at a party." When asked if he was "intimidated" to direct people like Scorsese, Rogen replied: "It was the worst thing in the whole world. We were shooting the show in such a specific way that I was so nervous it would be creatively rejected. " In the show, his character Matt Remick is often desperate for directors and actors to like him and worries about making them angry - and Rogen admits he's a lot like Matt in many ways. He added: "The character is me in many, many ways. And the crux of the character is that he doesn't want to let down his idols. "And that's one of the biggest things that I'm navigating: Whenever I get anyone to come do a thing we're doing, I'm so aware of how upset I'll be if they think it's bad. " Segel went on to add of Scorsese: "I did meet Martin Scorsese once. I met him at the Golden Globes, and we peed next to each other at the urinals. But I had the kids' one and he had the tall one. So everything about it was just way off. That's a great memory." Rogen the added: "He's a little guy." Rogen previously admitted he's had plenty of pushback from industry pals after he used their real life experiences as inspiration for The Studio. He told Vanity Fair magazine: "I think more [often] people have not wanted to accept that we have based things off of them, rather than claiming that we have based things off of them. "If anything, people are like: 'That's not me though.' But I think in general they really see that it comes from a place of love."

Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood finally address 'ridiculous' reports of White Lotus feud
Walton Goggins has confirmed there is "no feud" with Aimee Lou Wood after 'The White Lotus'. The 53-year-old actor and his co-star - who played Rick Hatchett and Chelsea on the hit HBO show - have faced claims of a rift between them after he unfollowed her on Instagram once season three of Mike White's anthology drama was finished. He explained: "My catharsis in this experience was different than other people's, because of my history in this place. "I knew what we had gone through, and I knew how close that we had gotten, and I needed to begin to process saying goodbye to Rick and Chelsea. 'And I knew that that was going to take a while for me, so I let her know, this is what I've gotta do. And she was extremely supportive about that.' He "needed to just back away from everyone", noting it wasn't a case of solely ignoring Aimee. He said: "I haven't spoken to anyone. I couldn't handle it. Judge me or don't. I don't give a f*** what you think. "This is my process. Rick means everything to me, and Chelsea means everything to me. And so that's what I needed to do for me to process all of this.'
