Nagpur: Unfazed by her arrest, Sunita Jamgade, 43, who made two failed attempts to enter
Pakistan
before crossing the Line of Control near Kargil on May 14, told interrogators on Thursday that she will again visit Pakistan after securing bail.
Police sources said, she appeared emboldened after her nine-day stay on the other side of the border, and was deftly changing her versions during questioning.
Sunita, who previously visited Nepal, stated she enjoyed going abroad, but Pakistan was her "dream destination". Security agencies, however, believe such statements may be intended to mislead the investigation.
Sunita, a former nurse, stayed in Mumbai and attempted to secure small-time acting roles, and later took up nursing to fund her son's education.
She also had a brief stint with a real estate group in Nagpur and Mumbai. She told police she crossed the LoC from Hundermaan hamlet in Kargil to find a job at a hospital and raise money to return to Nagpur with her son. Cold and starving, her son was bleeding from the nose, when she abandoned him.
With limited money and resources, Sunita relied on Google maps to travel and hitchhiked to reach different destinations. She would join langars and partake of free-food services along the way, said sources.

"Also, Sunita would request a hotspot to operate data on her phone and scour the Internet for information," said an official privy to the probe. Unable to pay hotel bills at Kargil, Sunita reportedly told the owners she would soon find a job and pay up.
Separated from her husband in 2014, Sunita entered her profile on a matrimonial site in 2018. She met a gem and jewellery businessman from Wardhaman Nagar who agreed to help her in the gem and jewellery business. Later, Sunita found a Pakistani friend on Instagram, @Zulfi_anshul, who showed interest in engaging with Sunita in her jewellery business. Her dreams of sneaking into Pakistan to meet @Zulfi_Anshul began on the Instagram platform.

Bengaluru Stampede: Kumaraswamy urges CM to fire Shivakumar

Union Heavy Industries & Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday alleged that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was responsible for the tragic stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that claimed the lives of 11 cricket fans. Addressing a late-night press conference at his official residence in New Delhi, the Union Minister urged chief minister Siddaramaiah to sack Shivakumar holding him responsible for the tragedy. He criticized the current government in Karnataka as being run by "arrogant fools" and added, 'It pains me to say this, but we have a Chief Minister who is completely inactive. He has no control over the Deputy CM. As for the Home Minister, there's no point even discussing, he merely obeys commands. If told to sit, he sits; if told to stand, he stands.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sistema TMS para empresas de logística Sistema TMS embarcador Saiba Mais Undo Referring to the government's felicitation event near Vidhana Soudha, Kumaraswamy said, 'While four people lay dead in a stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Shivakumar continued with the felicitation ceremony as if nothing had happened. How else do you describe such a government other than calling it an arrogant one?' Kumaraswamy expressed dismay over the state's haste in organizing a felicitation: 'On Tuesday night, the team won the IPL trophy. What was the rush to organize a felicitation event immediately? Who invited the team? Why this urgency? Everyone knows the role the Deputy CM played in all this,' he lashed out. Live Events 'Why hold two separate events? One program, well-organized with proper preparation, would have been enough. There should have been appropriate security and caution. Instead, everything was rushed simply to glorify himself. As a result of this recklessness, sports fans lost their lives,' he said. Kumaraswamy criticized the Dy CM's conduct at the stadium, saying: 'After his show at Vidhana Soudha, the DCM reached the stadium. Right outside the stadium lay the bodies of the deceased. Rather than stopping the event, he walked into the ground, lifted the trophy, and kissed it. Did he play the match and win the cup himself? Perhaps even the players didn't get the opportunity to touch the trophy. In the midst of deaths, he used RCB's win for his own PR and self-glorification.' 'This kind of recklessness cannot be tolerated. If the Chief Minister truly has any strength, courage, or leadership, he should start by removing such a person from his cabinet,' the Union Minister demanded.

Counsellor arrested for duping Pune-based edu institute

Pune: The crime branch of the Pune police arrested Kunalkumar Vidyarthi, an education counsellor and a resident of Bihar, for publishing an online advertisement with the photograph of a Pune-based education institute, its webpage, and logo in an alleged admission fraud case. "Vidyarthi and his wife were in the process of boarding a flight to Thailand from Kolkata airport on May 31. We took him into custody following a tip-off and brought him to the city for further action," said senior inspector Ulhas Kadam from the crime branch's anti-narcotics cell. The police produced Vidyarthi before a magisterial court, which ordered his custodial remand till June 5. Kadam said the modus operandi of Vidyarthi involved issuing an online advertisement to lure students and promising to help them secure admission to various courses in exchange for money. When this came to the notice of the institute, its official registered an FIR relating to cheating against Vidyarthi and two others with the Deccan Gymkhana police on April 2, 2024. A police team conducted searches at suspected places in Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi to trace Vidyarthi, but his whereabouts remained unknown as he constantly changed his hideouts to evade arrest. Kadam said, "We collected details of Vidyarthi's criminal antecedents and came to know that he is also wanted in a cheating case registered with the city cybercrime police in 2021. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo His anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the sessions court, but he did not surrender himself before the police." We arrested him a few minutes before his boarding," he said. "We are interrogating him to find out the number of students he duped and to arrest his two accomplices who are on the run," Kadam added.

Ruckus over online posts on PM: 2 from Cong face cases

Raipur: A ruckus erupted in Chhattisgarh late Tuesday as BJP leaders staged a protest at the Vaishali Nagar police station in Durg-Bhilai, demanding action against senior Congress leader Brijmohan Singh over an allegedly obscene Facebook comment targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the recently launched counter-terror 'Operation Sindoor'. The controversy escalated after Singh responded to a contentious post originally made by an individual named Ishwar Dubey, adding a vulgar remark aimed at PM Modi. Later, after hours of uproar and initial probe, an FIR was lodged and Singh was taken into custody for questioning. The BJP leaders, upon discovering the post, gathered in large numbers at the police station led by party members including Sharad Gupta, Nitesh Mishra, and Sweety Kaushik, pressing for immediate legal action. Senior BJP leaders said that Singh, a former Congress candidate from Vaishali Nagar and a known face in local politics, had crossed all lines of decency. "This kind of language against the Prime Minister is unacceptable and deeply offensive," said a BJP representative. CSP Bhilai Nagar Satyaprakash Tiwari told the media that Singh was detained and was being interrogated. Police have initiated further proceedings in the case. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 이 게임은 쉽고 무료로 플레이할 수 있지만 잊기 어렵습니다 레이드 섀도우 레전드 Undo Calling it politically motivated, opposition Congress condemned police action, sayinf that the party was not even informed about the exact nature of the allegations. "We are asking the police what had Brijmohan posted or what crime he has committed, but there is no clear response." they said. In another incident in Bilaspur, another Congress figure, former MLA Arun Tiwari, was booked under similar charges for a derogatory Facebook post targeting PM Modi, his wife, and Operation Sindoor. Though Tiwari later deleted the post, it was flagged by another used who shared it publicly, calling out the former MLA. Acting on a complaint filed by BJP worker Ranjit Singh Yadav, Civil Lines police in Bilaspur registered a case against Tiwari.
